LED grow lights...

Me and my buddy picked these up to try out.
We got a ton of seedlings started under these.
Looking great. We got 6 of em now, probably get more soon.
So with these there is no Heat, it runs off of like 2 watts per light.
No wasted green light spectrum, Just what the plant can use.
So there is no bright glow like HPS or MH. More like strip club lighting.
Tons of Lumens and a much more full spectrum. A 5 light fixture is equal to a 250 or 400 watt light.
Forget which one.
And if you lay under these lights with your eyes closed. It looks like your outdoors laying on the ground with your eyes closed. In full sunlight.
Thats what sold me. If you opened your eyes it would be blinding.
It tells you not to do that.
Just eyes closed.

don't expect that you will grow big yield under that setup. it has been said and tested a couple of times and at the end the growers always claimed that they got screwed.
i hope you get good results under that, but i seriously doubt about that.

Do you think we should just use them along with the Hps lights?
My buddy is sprung on these things, but I keep telling him they look like it might grow with thinner stems for one. And a lower yield also, like you said. Do you have any links to other grows with it?

they would be great if using them to make a better spectrum to let's say hps, cfl or enviro. but led only, i think you won't get much (with that setup).
if the distance is too big, you will have much stretching, if it is too close, you have uncovered areas.
i don't remember where exactly i saw that threads (ic, uk420, overgrow), but it's not worth looking at.
if it's not a secret, what is the price for those bars? i know you overpayed them, but i don't know how much. it's much better (and cheaper) to build your own lamp.

My friend is the one who bought em. I kind of just walked into the experiment.
But I believe he payed up the ass for them. like a couple grand for like 6 of em.
I keep telling him he's crazy. He wants to buy way more before even testing them. And I'm like dude, just hang on and see what they do.

It's always interesting when these new things come out that gives a whole new view to indoor growing, but as sience didnt really go far enough yet concerning led growlights i think that u should use them to complement a hps or MH

$600 and they're sold out after 18 days! :yoinks: Can't imagine spending that much w/o seeing results from my peers.
Not to mention knowing how the price will drop to 1/2 in a couple of yrs.

Thanks Boerman, I'll check it out.
Looks good so far. At least for veg.
At the very least it would be an improvment for the veg cycle.
But if we could grow a house full of plants with led lights, even if the yield was stronger ,it would balance out maybe because the cut in heat and electricity.

Check out Dav Zaps thread on LED growing - I think he calculated lumens and things during his grow, not sure it was as good as HPS but he still got a decent yield.

they are very cool, but like most have said yield is where its lacking. my buddy had 4 of those strips over a couple plants, just wasn't as good as hps imho

he did have some mite issues though. good luck
