Hi @El Timbo Hope you had a good summer time! Did your Thais already show their gender ?

Hi dubi - summer was good but I prefer our autumns - it's like a second spring here for my "normal" plants! I took away the night lights from the terrace a couple of weeks ago and the thais are starting to show sex - the panamas are ahead of them.

This Thai line is very open pollinated, using dozens of females and males, so it has not inbred to a specific expression, all possible phenos can still be found, although it requires to grow a few plants to find the expression you like most.

In my experience, purple expressions in SE Asians tend to have more calm, centered effects than green expressions. Green citric-lemony expressions are usually my favorite for best quality clear, uplifting effects.

The perfumed, floral, musky and strawberry expressions have the best, most refined terpenes, but not necessarily best effects, these are rare to find and require to run bigger sized populations to pop up.

Pure Thai can hardly compete in raw potency with very highly worked poly hybrids such as Godlen Tiger x Panama, it's more about the quality of the effects (super clean and cerebral) of the best pure Thais.

Also, pure Thais can be done indoors with good results and good growing skills, but certainly they show their best potential when grown outdoors in the right climate.

I very much enjoy the Lemony Thai and the Double chocolate thai, but i rarely smoke because of dealing with sooooo many seeds.

But, finally after more than 2 long months i finally see the sex of the 3 Thai x DCT, 2 male and 1 female. It took a long time seeing sex on the parents, i see it as a good sign that the offspring all took a long time, males included.

The female is from the big beastly lemony thai mother, excited about seeing how this will be.

For sure, but challenge has been met, keep it in the cup until i see sex. The veg tent has been stuffed with large plants waiting for flower room.

My bad, one of the males in the other pic was a Super Panama Haze x DCT. There are 2 of the lemon thai x DCT females.

Yes they have made pre flowers but not what I would call flowering as such... The Panamas are flowering well and they are in the same part of the terrace. There is some ambient light at night from street lights - do you think the Thais might be more affected by this than the Panamas or are they just slow to start flowering?

Put in flowering tent with 11/13 light cycle using 600 watt HPS on 09/26/2023

I wanted to get these flowering before they got too big so I don't struggle with height issues as I have in the past. So 4 weeks from planting seed to moving to the flower tent. One week under the 600 watt and they've grown significantly. I'm glad I didn't veg them any longer as I can tell they can get tall. Still planning on a January harvest. The waiting is the hardest part.

beautiful lime green Thais @xtsho if your flowering space is small keep them in small pots till early flowering stretching is over, then transplant so the plants have new soil and nutrients to face the flowering stage with all their potential.

I've overfed some of your sativa genetics in the past. Some don't need much to grow and stay healthy. Less is definitely better with some strains. These are currently growing in reused soil from previous grows that I haven't added anything to. I've made sure that I don't overfeed as it negatively effects the flowering quality and the finished product.

I'll follow your advice and transplant to larger pots with fresh soil on the bottom and around the sides when it's time.

The Ethiopian and Old Timers Haze. I wasn't feeding much but got the dark green leaves and slight clawing from too much nitrogen the first time I grew them.

Which soil are you using? Most soils on the market are already chocked full of nitrogen. I had to learn that the hard way

I don't remember. If it was store bought it was FFOF or Black Gold. I was also mixing my own stuff back then.

Yeah FFOF is what i use. It runs really hot. You certainly don't need to feed anything for the first 6 weeks atleast

Yes! He (and his brother) will pollinate the Thai females and the Panama fems - next summer I plan to grow your Thai x Panama fems and the Panama x Thai regs.

Ok, so my wife won and I’m doing a Thai run next instead of hitting the zamaldelica breeder pack.
I’m going to start with a much lighter soil mix for these since my standard recycled soil is a bit on the hot side.

@dubi is there any specific soil mix you recommend for these Thai? About the best base mix I can get around here is standard Happy Frog which is fairly mild across npk.

A soft soil mix without excessive N is recommended to start pure SE Asians like this one.
I would mix the soil myself, or buy something similar to Bio Bizz light mix.

I cooked mine (ethiopia) but just let them go as it was a seed run. I figured I'd stop feeding after up-pot but wasnt paying attention and added food at half strength and that pretty much sealed the deal.
Never was able to flush. Maybe I should have gotten something that grabs nutes from the soil...
Oh well lesson learned and I still have a couple seeds plus the ones that came from this run.
I was asking to see if it was any of the seeds I have but their site does say N sensitive.
