Here's the trick - They're playing on our horrid tendency to see everything in a 'tribal' light. 'Us' vs 'Them'. It's the oldest trick in the book.

You don't have to stand FOR anything if you convince the rubes that the OTHERS are sub-human.

Tribalism will be the death of us.

Uncle Screwtape will we ever learn?

I have studied the Bible for many years. I have read 8 or 9 of them cover to cover. From current distributions to the first 1611 KJ version. All of them are VERY different. I have also studied ancient Greek and Hebrew and have read and interpreted certain parts of ancient Greek and Hebrew scripts for myself.

I am not especially religious or spiritual. I believe in God and was raised Roman Catholic but no longer practice Catholicism.

I have found the following in 20+ years of Bible study.

1. Most modern interpretations are pure blasphemy. The interpretations have been changed SO much, it is a sin, literally.

2. What is taught in church is ANYTHING BUT what's in the Bible. Most churches take a passage or verse at random and the Priest/preacher/whatever gives HIS interpretation of it to the congregation. To me, that's like taking a wonderful story like Gone With The Wind and just picking a chapter and verse and reading it. OMG.... you are NOT going to understand the story that way. The Bible must be read from beginning to end for it to make sense..... just like any book.

The Old Testament and mostly the Torah (first five books) are mostly a guideline on how to live. When to fuck a women and be most likely to impregnate her. It tells a woman what to do when she's on her period. It tells us what foods are good (goat, sheep and cow) while it tells us, also, what not to eat (rats, shiteaters and bottom feeders.). It's really just a guide for ancient man to follow so he doesn't die off from disease and pestilence.

Later books just tell about the great Jewish horde, marching across the Middle East butchering and massacring everything in their path in the name of their god.

The New Testament is pretty cool as it talks about the life of Jesus but the later books, like the letters from Paul are all pretty boring.

OK, after 9+ Bibles and 20 years of study, here it is in a nutshell (my interpretation).

God/spacemen/whatever looked at this planet and saw the heathen uncivilized cultures. Picked what looks like the strongest/smartest one. Help them butcher off all the undesirable tribes.

Then, send your peace man (Jesus) to teach the remaining people how to live together in a communal tribe.

Pretty much a logical progression I would use if I were going to develop a plant of humanoids.

Here is the MOST important thing I learned from the Bible. Christians preach that you must believe in Jesus to get to Heaven. NOTHING COULD BE MORE MISQUOTED.

The pre-King James versions all say that you must believe in THE WAYS OF JESUS to get to Heaven.

I have friends who are Atheist. Stewie is the most generous, most wonderful and kind person I know (and, an incredible guitar player in my band). I have told him so many times that he walks in the path of Jesus WAY more than most of my "born again' Christian friends who lie, cheat and steal.... and go to church every Sunday. Even though he does not believe in God or Jesus I am quite sure he'll be on the fast path to Heaven when he dies. He doesn't even believe in afterlife so, if it DOES happen, it will be quite a surprise to him. LOL

God/Jesus/Spacemen/whatever all had the same message. Live in peace and harmony. Love and help your fellow man.

Unfortunately, it's not like that so I'll see you all in Hell.

Preach it, brother!!! “What would Jesus do?” has been the companion question of my life, and I’m no longer shocked to learn that even the most pious of others have no real idea *what* Jesus would do based on the Bible...almost as if they *don’t* have a personal relationship with him at all....

With greatest respect Mr Whitebeard ... it is not outside us. "What would Jesus do ..." is a statement based in fear. It denies individual autonomy. It is undemocratic. It is DEPENDANT.

Uncle Screwtape will we ever learn?

The author Tolle points out that we do worse things as a 'tribe' or 'nation' than we would as individuals. That the collective ego is more dreadful than the individual ego.
And it seems true to me that somehow ... whenever we view ourselves as something other than 'I am that I am" we are able to commit the most horrid of crimes against the Other by dehumanising her/him and seeing only an obstacle to the group opinion or aim.

Rather than say to yourself, "What would Jesus do?". Simply say to yourself, "What's the right thing to do?"

All creatures in the universe know right from wrong.

With greatest respect Mr Whitebeard ... it is not outside us. "What would Jesus do ..." is a statement based in fear. It denies individual autonomy. It is undemocratic. It is DEPENDANT.

But it’s a *question*, and the answer is NOT outside of us. My personal autonomy has never been threatened by posing myself the question, and the answer has typically been the same every time: uplift, share a burden, speak from the heart, act from the heart, leave the situation *better*....

It has never caused me to take a single step off the path, or to withhold words of comfort, kindness, forgiveness, blessing - or to forget we’re all in the shit together and that mercy is real.

If I follow you, you’re talking about the guilt/obedience that accompanies fear of judgement, which being imposed from without, is dependent on either skipping or passing the judgement, and makes one dependent regarding the outcome...and that is certainly undemocratic as no one really chooses to have their internal environment upheaved for a one-size-fits-all “solution” to someone elses’s problem.

T

Teddybrae

No ... I refer to Fear of obliteration. Of being overwhelmed by my Existence. Of being rendered NOBODY! And my need to Resort to something ... in this case Christianity ... in order to 'make' my Fear go away.

Of course I cannot make my Fear go away by referring to other peoples ideas, eg: Christianity. Taking on the ideas of others and neglecting one's own is Fantasy. It seems no different to me than the behaviour of a child escaping from imaginary monsters by telling themselves a story about a kind person who rescues them.

My Fear was washed away not by immersion in water (altho I dig the metaphor) but by being close to Death, to Obliteration, to becoming Nothing, for a lengthy period of time. And there was no wordy escape! I was in deep shit until I realised that in the Cosmic Order of things I am nothing except that I am.

Don't you have a sense of the things you say having been said many times before over aeons of time? Have you thought HOW these reams of words backwards and forwards will make a difference to your Life? Have you thought HOW the words will lead you to something NEW? A new sense of Being in the world?

For me something new arrived without effort as soon as I gave up my opinions. Whew! What a relief!

So no more from me. I will not butt-in further. Continue your Crusade ...

Thank you, Teddy, you’re so right! Life and death transcend our opinions of them and our feelings about them, and so often we are challenged to let go...and so often we cannot, because we’re holding on, and that causes pain.

I have buried my friends and my family, I have been near death many times. I do not fear it.
In fact, I’m rather tired of it....

John 12 NKJV

The Anointing at Bethany

12 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was [a]who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. 2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. 3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.

4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for [b]three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

7 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; [c]she has kept this for the day of My burial. 8 For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”

The Plot to Kill Lazarus

9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. 10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, 11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

The Triumphal Entry

12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:

“Hosanna!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
The King of Israel!”

14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:

15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion;
Behold, your King is coming,
Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.

17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. 18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. 19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”

The Fruitful Grain of Wheat

20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. 21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”

22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.

23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much [d]grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

Jesus Predicts His Death on the Cross

27 “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify Your name.”

Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”

29 Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”

30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. 31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 And I, if I am [e]lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” 33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.

34 The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.

Who Has Believed Our Report?

37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke:

“Lord, who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:

40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts,
Lest they should see with their eyes,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.”

41 These things Isaiah said [f]when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.

Walk in the Light

42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 47 And if anyone hears My words and does not [g]believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”

Scientists have looked ALL OVER what is called the "known universe"

and they've found 20+ different kinds of star and collapsed star.

But no Heaven.

The Jesus Mythology is simply a tool that the Criminal Sect of Judaism uses to manipulate the more stupid Gentiles.

People want to believe there is a "Heaven", that there is a "God" that listens to them.

That says more about their need to believe, than it does about the physical Universe.

2 Corinthians 5 NKJV

Assurance of the Resurrection

5 For we know that if our earthly [a]house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our [b]habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as [c]a guarantee.

6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

The Judgment Seat of Christ

9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

Be Reconciled to God

12 For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [d]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Matthew 11 NKJV

John the Baptist Sends Messengers to Jesus

11 Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

2 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he [a]sent two of his disciples 3 and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”

4 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: 5 The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

7 As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he of whom it is written:

‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face,
Who will prepare Your way before You.’

11 “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. 15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

16 “But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, 17 and saying:

‘We played the flute for you,
And you did not dance;
We mourned to you,
And you did not [b]lament.’

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a [c]winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her [d]children.”

Woe to the Impenitent Cities

20 Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent: 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, who[e] are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.”

Jesus Gives True Rest

25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. 26 Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [f]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Matthew 12 NKJV

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath

12 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 2 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!”

3 But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? 5 Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple [a]profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? 6 Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. 7 But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of Man is Lord [b]even of the Sabbath.”

Healing on the Sabbath

9 Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue. 10 And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—that they might accuse Him.

11 Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? 12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” 13 Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other. 14 Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.

Behold, My Servant

15 But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great [c]multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. 16 Yet He warned them not to make Him known, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

18 “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen,
My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!
I will put My Spirit upon Him,
And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.
19 He will not quarrel nor cry out,
Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench,
Till He sends forth justice to victory;
21 And in His name Gentiles will trust.”

A House Divided Cannot Stand

22 Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the [d]blind and mute man both spoke and saw. 23 And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by [e]Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

The Unpardonable Sin

31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

A Tree Known by Its Fruit

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood[f] of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure [g]of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

The Scribes and Pharisees Ask for a Sign

38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”

39 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here. 42 The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.

An Unclean Spirit Returns

43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Send for Him

46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”

48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”

The Jesus Mythology is simply a tool that the Criminal Sect of Judaism uses to manipulate the more stupid Gentiles.

If you dig deep enough literally every crazy ass conspiracy theory ever imagined ends up at the same place: "the Jews did it".

If you're gonna make stuff up the least you could do is be original.

I'm always amazed at how stupid - and greedy - American Christians are.

Scientists have looked everywhere from SCO-X1 to the Crab Nebula.

Haven't found any "God".

But they found a near infinite amount of Hydrogen, and lots of Nucleosynthesis going on. i.e. Elements being Created.

Christian Churches = America's version of a Madrassa.

Keep the Gentiles STUPID so they can't understand the details of Climate Change, or 9-11, or ANYTHING.
