2 -Yes, heating mats are great in winter for better germination. Less chances of seedlings dieing off

2. ...but since germany is not cali we need a good heating pad for the colder 6 months of the year.

3. Also a heating pad can be used to warm eggs of exotic animals. We all love parrots, dinosaurs and primeval cancer right!
