What's new

Aruba (Bodhi)

Think these are relatively new. Anyone finished flowering these yet? I have a friend that just popped a pack , so I will see some in a couple months. I am excited though and am looking for something on these. The description has me, stating that they have an "indica" growth pattern with sativa buds with a tropical scent.
Pics, or anything to say about these, anyone?

Might well be Central or South American genetics that were brought over, e.g., Colombian Santa Marta.

Based on the flowering time, it sounds like a sativa hybrid liked you'd find through much of the Caribbean. Check out the Strainhunters vid on Trinidad / St Vincent.

well, I have been to Aruba and know the place quite well... Aruba used to be a territory of the Netherlands, up until 1999 I believe... so they have a lot of dutch varieties being cultivated.

finding herb in Aruba is super easy, although is quite pricey. all I found there has been grown locally and outdoors, one time even got some freshly chopped buds out of an almost finished flowering plant. took me a few days to dry it and all.

probably there have been crosses with Colombian plants grown out of the brick that may reach their shores... Aruba is so close to Venezuela that you can actually see the island lights at night from the state of Falcon.

great beaches and nice people usually. but expensive.

be good!

Hey Man!!

I am going to the Dutch ABC Islands shortly, can you rank the availability, and the price of weed there?

Like Aruba Easy to get but pricey.

Bonaire hard to get pricey.

Curacao, easy pricey.

Many Props thanks.

Peace

I just put up pics of mine in the Bodhi Seeds thread in the Strains and Hybrids forum. They will be flowering in about a month.

They don't have the appearance of a typical sativa aside from being lanky with spaced out internodes.

I wonder if it is the typical Santa Marta gold of the Caribbean with some Dutch genes mixed in.

Anyway, hope everyone can share some pics soon.

Bodhi Seeds Aruba Male

Bodhi Seeds Aruba Male

Here is a male Aruba that just showed sex. The females look exactly the same, though some are more columnar in structure, having one main stem and less branching. Indica appearance but slow to show sex, maybe the last strain. Should get good from here

Update: I have three females that are slowly starting to flower. Some pink pistils possibly from Columbian or Panamanian influence, they are still stretching, still have fairly indica appearance. I have two males to collect pollen from and will be making some F2s. I'll post pics in a few week when the bud structure is more evident. They have quite a funky smell and I'm excited to see what develops.

Also, I am training my plants and one of the Arubans stems does not like to be bent, it snaps easily but has not broken yet, akin to super cropping, it recovers and keeps on growing but does not like being tied down. None of my other plants is having this issue, some bend easily others do not but no snapping, but this has done it several times.

Also, I will add that they seem pest resistant and survived a severe slug infestation as seedlings better than 10 or so other varieties I have. I have taken some clones and they seem to have taken root despite my terrible success rate with taking clones.

I had some aruba, that were about to finish in next weeks. I had two phenos with all pink pistils, really beautiful, with more indica structure to them really, and then there were some other phenos, a little more sativa, but not to much stretch really. Unfortunately they were lost to boys in blue.. All that is left is some male pollen..
If you get the chance I would recommend to grow them

All the best

going to be growing some aruba f2's outdoors this year in the northeast. i needed something quick with good resistance to the outdoor elements and i believe bodhi recommended this one to me for just those reasons.

i'll take some pics when the time comes for anyone that wants to see them as i havent found much info or pics on this one from bodhi.

One of my favorite strains… period

Tight and dense. Bulbous fat calyxes. Smells like sunscreen, bananas, caramel/burnt sugar, and nutmeg.

Definitely in my Top 10 favorite strains of all time. Happy creative fun buzz that’s good for adventures, sunny days, the beach (imagine that!), and just relaxing if you want. It’s potent, but I’ve found it to have very low anxiety.

Don’t have her anymore but luckily made an F1 outcross with her and a Sakura male (also by Bodhi. Lineage: Bubba Kush x Wookie #15)

One of these daze I’ll certainly run em and F2 the hell out of them bc this line is as special and unique as they come.

Never heard that Aruba had a Cannabis landrace like some other countries in the Caribbean.

From the ex colonies of the Netherlands only Indonesia is interesting. The Dutch brought seeds in the 19th century from India to Aceh to use it in the coffee plantation against caterpillars.

All those Caribbean islands "belonged" to the Medellín cartel in the 70s and 80s, even Carlos Ledher, a famous Colombian trafficker, who owned an island in the Bahamas called Cayo Norman, and they were used as a check point on his trafficking routes, the airplanes and boats that were used did not have the autonomy to arrive in a direct route to the US and they had to use those Caribbean islands to refuel or do it in mid-flight (it was also done) someone was tied with a rope and from a drum in flight they refueled with a hose.
All that weed from the Caribbean is almost 100% Colombian weed
