Auto Duck (Dutch Passion)

Windowsill-grown Auto Duck from Dutch Passion. Started mid-April harvested mid-July.

The buds have a loose structure with small individual bracts spaced along the stem. Reasonable bud density and resin coverage but rather small trichome glands. Very low bag appeal overall. But this may be due to the low-light conditions it was grown in (south-facing window but no supplemental lighting).

Fruity smell at least before curing. Mild skunky taste, none of the throat-covering unpleasant earthy Lowryder taste. Very smooth smoke even before curing.

The onset of the high is very fast and the initial peak is strong. It's a psychedelic yet familiar, comatose body but active head high at first but this does not last too long and after a while it transforms into a pure head high. Basically it is like the White Widow high, which is one of the strain's ancestors so that makes sense.

I wondered about that strain. It's been around a long time and I've seen the seeds a few places here and there. Thanks for sharing.your hard work. 😎

Thanks. Just a little fun windowsill grow (a houseplant really), not exactly hard work.

The strain caught my interest because of the webbed leaves. And while it did have some (the bigger fan leaves mainly), it also had a lot of regular shaped leaves, and especially during lowering the look of the plant was unmistakably cannabis. Also, while advertised as a low odor strain, I wouldn't totally agree with that. It just has a more fruity rather than pungent smell. So overall the stealth qualities of the strain are limited.

I do enjoy the high but it's a low/mid potency strain. I can't really complain about the latter though as that is what the official breeder description says, and therefore it was to be expected. Potency is not everything anyway.

Overall I would say that it's an interesting strain ornamentally that will also produce some nice smoke, but there are more potent and higher yielding autos on the market that finish weeks faster, at least according to the internet.

Very cool, i copped some in spring for an outdoor guerilla spot but planted something else (green-o-matic) instead.
Thanks for sharing your impressions!

yeah, `according to the internet/breeders´ descriptions, lol. These darling autos don´t finish that all fast in my experience ;)
Thank you for sharing about this auto strain . I´ve often come across it too whilst browsing for strains.
When I grew a single lowryder it produced a hell of a pot stink (it´s usually nice, yes but not if you need to be as discreet and as `invisible´ as possible, lol.

Can you also share how large your grow pot was and how much (roughly) smokeables you got out of it and the plant height was ? :)

It was grown in a "self-watering" pot with 6l of soil and a 2l water reservoir. AN Sensi Coco Bloom used as fertilizer.

Height of the plant was about 60cm, it was trained into a "menorah" shape (to fit between window and reflective white curtains).

I don't have a scale so I don't know the yield. Difficult to eyeball with the less-common bud structure as well. I was able to fit most but not quite all of the bud in a single 1l jar with some pushing in. What would that be, 30g?

wow, 1 Liters worth :) way more than what I got from mine :)
My pot was also about 5-6 L but I watered by hand.
So you grew in coco? My first attempt at coco went horribly wrong. All my poor tiny seedlings died before they grew any real roots :(
I just bought fresh soil and still have coco brick left and would be willing to give this combo a go but I´m out of seed, lol
I dunno but maybe the autos would be quicker if you start growing them now...???
BTW, If you put the dried and crushed bud into a 1 L jar, then no! It´s way more than 1 ounce/ 30 g ;) maybe even it it was fresh bud, I´m not sure

Nah it was in soil, I just used the coco fertilizer because I already had the bottles and didn't want to go buy something else just for this.

Sorry to hear about your coco seedlings. I have done a couple of runs in coco and they have gone ok. If you try again make sure you hydrate the coco with a fertilized solution as it doesn't have any nutrients in it. If you did do that then well, could be anything, pythium, bunk seeds, bunk coco...

The bud is dry but not crushed. Might be more than 30g but probably not way more. Or who knows. Really need a scale but if busted it's one of the things they use to determine if it's a personal grow or not, which is the difference of just a fine or prison time.

yeah, I only used water to soak the bricks . I did use a little fertilizer but was also afraid of burning the babies. I may try a coco grow again at some point though. Or maybe one with both.

Revisiting this weed after a cure.

It's not the first jar that went empty. More the jar that I damn near forgot about. But today I remembered it and felt like having some.

Mild woody taste on the inhale, nothing to write home about. Paradoxically seems to have a stronger aftertaste than actual taste.

Potency-wise still needs a full joint rather than a pinner. But the high is very nice. :D

Positive mental state.

Seems to alter perception of taste. Candy tastes super intense.

It was nice to read this report,
i see a few traits that came from the original duck have prevailed ,
the pungent smell of the plant , the original ducks were stinkers ,
you couldnt carry it around without being noticed ...

the after taste , i remember licking my lips and tasting it ,
it was a pleasant taste that lasted a long time on the palate,
and finally the positive mental state ,
that stuff used to make me smile , i would just cruise around smiling ,
brings back some good memories ,
thanks for the read mr grey ...
