New Nextdoor Neighbor is LEO

Have a very small 2 auto closet grow going in a red state. Have my security pretty tight and researching any holes I may have daily. Being responsible.

The house behind me is empty/available for rent, and my closet is in my back upstairs room, it's a music studio.

New renters moved into the house behind me last weekend. He is LEO. Squad car is parked there all the time, except when he is on shift.

Is my microgrow over?

I have blinds up, a tent which is inside a closet. Some slight light in the room but I go outside at night and can't see anything in the window.

I am concerned about them having visibility to my backyard, though I don't bring plants back there. I do have my garbage cans directly in their view.

What would you do in this situation?

I've introduced myself when I saw him moving in, quick friendly introduction and he asked to pet my dog which I allowed him to do. What is my next move?

Show them nothing weird and you should be golden. Be friendly if they are. Even if he's a cop, especially if not working in your area.. I bet he likes to unwind and forget about work while at home. That doesn't mean he would not see something and put info toghether if you give him the oportunity, but I bet he should not suspect some friendly neighbours with no reason. There is where you do your part. Give him no reason to think about you doing illegal stuff.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reassurance. That's what I thought, but it is my first grow, and you can never be too careful in my situation. Eager to see some more responses.

Best neighbor to have really. Do your thing and do it right and there should never be a problem plus you have added security.
I wouldn't think twice about growing next to cops. They would never know a thing

I don't have any issues with LEO but didn't know if this was just cause to tear down the grow. Why do you say it's more secure? Less chance of robbery?

Just be polite and friendly as normal,,
ice was broken when he stroked your dog,,,
a nice trusting neighbour is way more important then a few plants in the back,,,
Being a good neighbour trumps a few plants even for US LEO I imagine,,,
But if you don’t have “ peace of mind” and it’s causing you anxiety then pull it down,,,,
That big old squad car is sure gonna keep any rippers away,,,

Only thing I'm worried about is possible small light leaks. Only light is coming through the passive intake hole. I usually have the closet doors open when I can to let new air in, so at night there is a tiny bit of light coming out of the tent.

Still relatively dark in the room. I go outside and cannot see anything from the ground level as far as light leaks. I'm wondering if he can see anything more from his second floor window looking into my second floor room where the grow closet is...

Get a good filter. And make sure it’s not sent in a box that says “badass weed filter”. 👍

haha fortunately they don't face my front porch, but my backyard.

I do have a good filter, I think. Not that they've started smelling enough for me to find out yet....

I´d be more worried about the weed odour than the plants. Open the blinds and turn the light on in the room sometimes. Don´t make anyone think you´re hiding anything in that room because that sort of thing is much more suspicious than seeing someone actually `living´ in the room.

Weed odor from the plants or from just smoking weed?

Both I would say. Bad to have them around even with no cops.

I have a filter/fan setup that I'm hoping will get the job done. I didn't cheap out in that department, especially for how small my tent is.

I only smoke out of a volcano hybrid vaporizer, so I would say the smell is much less than a house where real combustion smoking is going on

Does his county still bust people?
He doesn't sound like the ass hole 'must obey me' type.
Does his car use indicate small town? where policing is about peace keeping. Not scoring points.

Non of the above matters much. It's all about the smell. It's not called Skunk for nothing. Smokers forget what having a good sense of smell is. Non smokers sometimes complain about it coming through the wall. Obviously it shouldn't but it shows how much the smell carries. It's smell, strange comings and goings, and curtains always closed. They draw attention.

I don't know why a tent in a closet would leak light into the room. Perhaps you could have main lights and auxiliary lighting, plug in within the bedroom. So you can reduce the light before opening the tent (if that's when the light gets out)
