the truncheon blulab ph meters are fucked... their ec meters are good. i've had my hanna combo pen for 3 years and works great.. had to replace the ph bulb once a few months ago but was only $30. i never should have bought the blulab ph meter :bashhead:

bluelab for me ,ive had my cf/ec truncheon 11 years ,,
i had problems with the first ph truncheon i got about 10 years ago so sent it back and switched back to hanna,

i recently used the bluelab ph truncheon and it works perfectly ,just keep the sponge in the probe cover wet and you'll have no problems

Hanna HI 98129.
-low cost
-easy replacement parts
-easy to calibrate
-accurate
-extremely dependable

Need to keep the pH bulb wet and it will last at least 5year (and still ticking). Use to not do so since I started no bulb failure.

EC and ppm with adjustable coefficient.

Nothing more to say.......

Peace

i been getting great reviews of the trunchean blue labs
^^^ the shit, I love em, no problems so far... I've gone through 3 milwakee ph pens (their tds are fine); before you say, man that was stupid of you to get 3 of the same pens, my hydro guy just replaces them... free is free; its the backup pen now :rasta:

I've been using a hanna handhelp, model escapes me, but it has a corded probe so I enjoy it a lot more than pen model I own (also hanna). Calibration is a breeze with the little dials and all your readings on one stick. My probe did finally go out, purchased just over 3 years ago and it has seen at least 48 hours of "dry" time w/o the cap on due to friends I'd let borrow my shit. I would buy a hanna again if for some reason my unit went out but as long as it's just probes I'll be ok, but at $100 for a new probe and $230 for the unit itself(probe included) it's a costly maintenance fee.

what's up hazy... there may be a prob with ph truncheons released this year??.. both mine and my buddies have the same prob; it reads fine for a week then starts reading almost a full point high and they won't calibrate, even after a cleaning and contact ring replacment per instructions. i thought i may need a new ph bulb (even although mine is only 5-6 months old) and the dealer said they've been having probs with them...after i buy the damn thing :bashhead:

the guy felt bad i guess and gave me a new ph bulb for free and the same exact thing happened... worked for a week then reads a point high and won't calibrate. i keep really good care of my stuff and the tip was kept wet so i'm convinced there are some bad ones out there.

i just wanted to post this up so anyone who's thinking of a getting the blulab can ask their dealer some questions before buying one.

I had the same problem with Milwaukee PH51 pen...dealer replaces for free. No problems at all with the black TDS meter.

But doesnt the nutradrip tri meter only tell you ph,tds, and temp? Is there any other reliable ones like this that measure EC? Im used to only testing ph so im a little new at this but isnt EC a more accurate instant reading rather than waiting days watching ppm fluctuate to be able to tell if everything is ok? And are tds and ppm the same thing just different words? My thought is that ppm is a measurement of total dissolved solids, ex: if tds is 60, then 60 tds=blank ppm. am i right? I could use some help here please. I know this is an easy one guys! thank u

HI 98129 waterproof pH, EC/TDS
and temperature meters. The housing has been completely
sealed against humidity and designed to float.
All pH and EC/TDS readings are automatically temperature
compensated (ATC), and temperature values
can be displayed in °C or °F units.
For EC/TDS readings, the EC/TDS conversion factor
(CONV) is selectable by the user, as well as the
temperature compensation coefficient β (BETA).
The meters can be calibrated at one or two points for
pH (with auto-buffer recognition and against five
memorized buffer values), and at one point for EC/
TDS.
Measurements are highly accurate with a unique
stability indicator right on the LCD.
A low battery symbol warns the user when the batteries
are to be replaced. In addition the Battery Error
Prevention System (BEPS) avoids erroneous reading
caused by low voltage level by turning the meter off.
The HI 73127 pH electrode, supplied with the meters,
is interchangeable and can be easily replaced by the
user.
The stainless steel encapsulated temperature sensor
facilitates faster and more accurate temperature measurement
and compensation.
