Good to see some of you folks getting plants out. I am going to dig a few more holes today but Im waiting until tomorrow because there is a frost warning for a lot of NY and Northern Penn tonight.

If you have a warning, and you can, make sure you cover them. After tonight the weather looks very good...........

I am getting some alright weather up in Rochest NY but it wont rise atleast to a daily and regular 75 degrees, It is still in the 60s but good enough sunlight. Can anyone help me out?
I put about 10 (3") seedlings in some soil outside a few days ago and the soil has a lot of worms and thick roots (chopped thru), looks nice and dark, and smells pretty rich but it does not have any coarse particles so i am afraid they might suffer in such a thick soil, no clay just heavy soil. It breaks up in large and rich looking clumps similar to the texture of the soil corn grows in around harvest time. Any thoughts, it would be sweet to keep and gain some NYers to JJs thread so people can relate, especially on weather.

JJ. I have some 23=100 watt cfls (helicals) but can only put one up to use so far. I am going to try and work with the artificial for prep work like u said and also get some started in the sun.

It sounds like good soil. You want to be careful because there is a freeze warning for Rochester from midnight tonight until 7 AM. It might be wise to cover them if possible.....

Thanks for the heads up, Exactly what i was talkin about. Everyone can relate in the area with the weather. Ive had them thru a few late and mild frosts but thats when they were in pots, hope they do well cause i have no materials to cover with yet.
I have only heard of translusent plastic (polyester), Who sells the transparent stuff, or how well does the tranlusent stuff work.
peace everyone

If they are small you can use flower pots, soda bottles half gallon milk jugs or most anything. If you are close to water that will keep things a little warmer....

we are a bit further south in ny and we planted 12 last week... when we came out of the woods, we took turns knocking the fuckin ticks off each other... must have been 20/25 on each of us... most were dog ticks, but there were a number of small red ones... deer ticks... i hate fucking ticks...

remember if you cover your plants , you may have to remove the cover early the next day ,it may get to hot inside your dome...

Like JJ said ,being near a body of water helps, 50 degree water may seem cold to swim in ,but it will help keep the surrounding air stay around 50 also.

some chunky soil will be ok, a good mix of textures is better than a ground up dust , or chunks as big as a fat mans head....if you can squeeze a handfull size piece ,and it breaks apart, thats good soil.

use good loose soil around your root bal to avoid air pockets, then use the larger stuff near the surface, they will break done, later in the season.

Good to hear you NY guys are moving outdoors..Have a great season.!!

Im around the NY area and i planted some plants outside but only 1 is a survivor. I want to plant some more outdoors. Is the only punishment of planting late say a week from now less buds? Thank you for your help. Also it was really shady to try and plant my plants when there was no vegatation around. I feel much more safer doing it around now.... Thankx for any help

To be honest, the plants I put in now will not be much different than the ones I put in the first week in June. Mother nature has a way of catching up.

The ones you will notice a difference in are the ones you veg for a couple months inside and then put them out. They will normally be your largest. Don't sweat putting plants out anytime in June.....

I finally got some plants into the ground today. I put in ten and hopefully will have time to do another 10 tomorrow. Here is a couple pics of the G13-Diesel from HeadSeeds. I don't think anyone has done them outside yet and I have big hopes for them. First is the pics of the clones and the other pics are from the plant I took the mother clone from that I grew inside.

JJ. Have you ever grown in soil conditions like mine with fine particles and very thick and heavy, they do break up in clumps but not nearly as loose as potting soil.
how many plants r you putting out and how old are the oldest ones.
