I'm browsing around Webshots.com, and came across someone's album of Azerbaijan.
Within it, I found this....gem of a...woman? I'm only guessing it's a woman because of the head scarf.

Let's make this thread something different---Let's share photos, either our own, or found online, of people from around the world.
I saw a couple of really beautiful cultural ones a while ago that I'm going to go dig up & post in a bit.

(Leaving in the link to the pic incase anyone's interested in the rest of the album)

this thread just made me think of some pictures that io found going through my grandads war photos, my grandad was in the area we call iraq now, and this one pic always stuck in my mind, the were women and had lots of tribal jewelly.... I looked at the back of the picture and i saw the generational difference between myself and my grandad. If id took the pic, id have written where and when it was taken, and who the people were, as in names or maybe the name of their tribe or whatever,,, My grandads picture however just said "Wogs" and the year and i was actually pretty mad about it-not because of the racism(and he was a hardcore racist old sod) but because i felt sort of cheated that i wanted to know the place and the ppls nsmes in the picture but all i got was "Wogs" ..... The pics in this thread just brought that to mind for some reason.....

Hey Yummy why is it then whenever I ask an Iranian person where they're from they always say they're Persian and I need to ask repeatedly to get them to admit they're form Iran?

don't know. I know Iranian isn't a race only 50% are persian like 40 percent are Azeris, rest are minorities like armenians, Turks etc.

like Andre Agassi the tennis player is Iranian but of Asyrrian/ Armenian ancestry but people just say he's Iranian.

maybe they think persian sounds cooler or something, no idea. That was also what the official name of the country was until the 1930s but it's also a race.
I know Iran means land of the aryans and was changed to please Hitler in world war two. Also to foreigners Iran sounds similar to Iraq so some people may think it's an Arab country.

I know a lot of people from Iran just call themselves persian even if they are not ethnically persian. Just like how Asian, black, white/ native people can call themselves Canadian.

And off to the left you'll see some hippies enjoying a morning drum circle in N. Washington. This is from the Okanogan Family Barter Faire, outside of Tonasket, WA.

lol people from Azerbaijan are Iranian. Iranian is not a race.

Theres West / East Azerbaijan two provinces in N.W Iran

according to wikipedia.

West Azarbaijan or West Azerbaijan Persian: Āzarbāijān-e Gharbī; Kurdish: Azerbaycanî Rojawa; Azeri: Qərbi Azərbaycan) is one of the 30 provinces of Iran.

The province of West Azarbaijan covers an area of 39,487 km², or 43,660 km² including Lake Urmia. In 2006 the province had a population of 3015361 [2]. The capital city of the province is Urmia.

East Azarbaijan or East Azerbaijan is one of the 30 provinces of Iran. It is in the northwest of the country, bordering Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the provinces of Ardabil, West Azarbaijan, and Zanjan. Its capital is Tabriz.
