High,
well i have sucessfully raised the main section of the roof,it (the room) is actually a smaller storage room turned into the orginal grow room it has a fixed height that cannot be raised :badday:

the larger section we added to it,as you can see below it was up until yesteday the same heigh,6'6" and adding the light rail and mover, shade and globe gave me virtually no grow height.

but now with the extra height added,i have sucessfully picked up over 12" of extra grow space/height :woohoo:

this will give me a little "play room" above the canopy to run ducting / fans and circuler fans (suspended upside down) :woohoo:

i over estamated on my orignal calcuation of room height under the globe, ive come up with 6'6" of grow space,so im happy enough with that anyhow.

so... what way is best to run the shade as you can see in the 2 pics i have the 2 shade positions the above position was how i had it in the smaller / lower room in pic. (you can see where i raised the roof)

or this way.

looks like i'll be able to suspend the back 2 lights in the corners up high enought for reasonable sized plants as well,so its all good so far.

altough,im a bit woprried about how to achive the 50watts per sruare foot,to 4640w's! i might have t re-think my light configurations

i suppose a 600w and a 1000w in each corner and the 1000w m/h up the guts

of corse all this has to come off again so the room can be sealed and repainted, intake holes for ac units and intake fans ectt cut and screened...

i also have most of this list here as well ready to go in the room once once shes finished.
a can filter.
CAN FILTER – CAN 100 ( CARBON)

a DIMPLEX DEHUMIDIFYER
Finally a dehumidifier at a reasonable price! There is no doubt that the use of a dehumidifier in the growing area is highly beneficial, particularly in a fully controlled environment. Dehumidifiers are a valuable asset to any growing envirinment - remove unwanyted moisture from the air, highly reducing the risk of airborne pathogens that lead to fungal diseases like botrytis and other forms of crop mould.
Key Features;
• Removes up to 10 litres of moisture per day
• High / Low setting

Hey Father Time
Looking good cant wait to see that room up and running !!
Ok after rereading all the post on your room and you saying that you are going to get cool tubes for the added lights I figure you could save money by
running another 1000w hps cheaper than two 600w !!!!
This is how i would look at it . You have a 6' light rail you can split the rail to 2 3' rails one on each side of the room . Get an add a light kit for the rail @60$ US. mount the rails about 2.5' from the walls and run 1000wmh on one side and 1000w hps on the other both aircooled with the fan drawing through your can 100. this will allow you to move the lights around 6 to 8 inches and cover an 7X8 area 56squarefeet with no problem and still maintain light intensity. This should let you put @28 plants in 4 to 5 gal containers and giving the plant @2 square feet each to grow in . depending on the strain and veg time as you know and shooting for 2oz per squareft or 4oz per plant you should be able to reach some where in the neighborhood of 7lbs per harvest. :joint:
Still having the 3X8 space in the back of the room for equipment and such !!!
If this is not enough then you can always add a 600w to one of the 3X4 areas in the corner .
Oh and dont forget you need room to work in there too
Happy growing !!!
and remember to keep it simple it will cause less headaches in the end

SouthenSmoker,
thanks very much for your contrubation to my questions,
i heve decided to put the 1000m/h in storage and buy 1000hps instead, this way i can use them with the cool tubes as i cannot access cool tubes for Mh where i am.

the untis come with "duel spectrum" globes are these any good,or would it be best to buy "vege" and "flower" globes and just keep the "duel spectrum" as spares.

Kindest Regards,FT

High Friends,
well have been busy lately, got the room mostly finished, the lights will arrive this week, and ill fit them,i have alrady fitted a 1000wM/H.

i have fitted the room with 2 X 1.5hp air cons, one at each end,as well as the circuler fans'.

the air cons are enough to turn over a 70cube Meter room and i have barlely have 20,so im hopeing this wil be enough to combat the heat from the 1 x 1000w and the 4 x 600w :chin:

the intake for the air has been finished, and i have made a removable filter out of an AC Unit filter fitted to the flumeing spigets to keep the bugs out, :dueling: so thats a load off.

the smoke alarms and fire extinsures are fitted as well as all the remote temp senders. :joint:

so really, now all i have to do is save up the bucks for the 2 x fans and the Can filter,i have gone over budget and just need these last few things.

also knocked up a small chamber for vegeing and putting cuts in as well.
Kind Regards,FT

High JonnyB
no worrys mate,hehehehe

i just finished filling the cavity between the rooms wall and the outta wall with inslutation as well as double insluated the cieling/roof. :woohoo:

as you can see by the tarp i have wrapped it and fitted it to the room useing self tapping screws, then i have sat/put large sheets of 12mm (1/2") MDF Board on the tarp as well as all my other crap i orginally had stored up the roof. hehehehe

this is all a pre-cautionary measure as im trying to avoid battling the extreme summer heat :dueling:

i took a few White widow X Bubblegum cuts of a big re-vegeing girl i have out the patch as well and popped them into the home made cloner in the small room to get going prior to going into the room.

Kind Regards.FT

things are slow today,am waiting for shipment of lights to arrive (if thay ever do! :yoinks: )

so mucked aorund and fitted the intake fan to flumeing,i wasnt happy about loseing reflction to the red paint on the fan so i decided to cover it in alloy tape as well.hehehe :bat:

and yes,i know i scratched the paint on the flor, but have decided to fit the entire room out and re-paint it all again anyway. :bat:

JonnyB !
one of my faveriot genetic engineers, thanks for droping by man.

i have had a dummy spit, :cuss: and decided after speaking to my friend SouthenSmoker,to piss the flumeing off all togeather and just put a %90 bend on the intake tube on the outta side of the room.

this will do away with that unsightly flumeing and give me the bend i need to stop the light leakage, that the flumeing was ther to disapate in the first place. :woohoo:

stay tuned for up-date pics tommorow. :joint:

High,
so,while im waiting for the stuff to make the elbow for the intake to arrive,i decided to chop off that ugly flumeing so it is goooooooone, and i could not be happier. :woohoo:

so i then decided that,
i did not want to have to chop 2 holes in the room to 1 to run the lead for the light out to the external ballast,as well as have to chop/drill a seconed hole to run the ballest line into the room to draw power,so i back-to-backed the douoble power points.

the inside of the room

and the outside of the same socket, this way i can draw power for the ballest without choping a hole into the room, this will mean just one hole out the room for the light power to ballest :woohoo

see, i told you i was board!

when you put the 90 in, be sure to put a 3' piece of pipe on it with the inside painted black.... the longer the pipe, the better. that way you dont get light reflection down the tube. and if you dont paint the outside of the pipe, it wont transmit too much heat either! you could run it to shaded air!

I think you've got every thing pretty well covered dude!
You did a great job building this room, I think it's gonna work really well.
Can't wait to see!

High,
well got a few of the lights hung and pluged into the ballests. :woohoo:

now have to fit plugs in the holes drilled that i passed the plugs from the lights through, and seal them then where ready to re-paint.

i have to still cut the hole for the exaust flumeing tommorow, then its time to clean the room and re-paint the enitire thing, thers a few scratches on the floor form working in ther. :badday:

Very Cool M8, she's takin' shape quite nicely, in fact I'm envious of your setup...
"My compliments to the chef." :) Your doing an excellent job there. :lurk:
All those detail, details and more details, but I see your almost ready to start "rockin the house".
"Rockin the heavily insulated air conditioned storage room" just doesn't have the same ring to it, now does it. hehe ;) :)

i have fitted the room with 2 X 1.5hp air cons, one at each end,as well as the circuler fans'.

You've got me wondering how many "B.T.U.'s" are your air conditioners rated for, Father Time?

It is lookin Goood you ol' do it yourselfer, you do good work, very nice job!
That setup will work out very well for you I do predict.
Try not to work too hard you ambitious sonofagun. :)
Your Amigo,

IMB :)
