Cancel Culture

So you're going to use ICMag as a platform to influence its members to help you ruin the livelihoods of people you don't agree with?

"Cracker Barrel, Chick-A-Filet, Hobby Lobby, I don't shop there. Remember Goya, My Pillow?" - if I'm not mistaken, aren't alla those businesses located mainly in the South (USA) and owned by evangelican Christians?

......... and howz about the livelihoods of alla the innocent peeps working there?

................ not to mention the economy in general, retail/restaurants are already struggling especially with covid!

You say "I don't stop there" - shall we help you bring down the oil industry, Wall Street? :whistling:

It's funny, but alla these 'techniques': Calling in, Calling out, Canceling, shunning, social media campaigns, remind me strongly of all the BULLIES (and their little groups!) I've ever encountered, starting in Middle school on upward, these are the things they do to elevate themselves and control others.
You tell him :)

Here's the article. https://www.wellandgood.com/cancel-culture-examples/

I'm saying, before Cancel Culture really ramped up, I quit using products (MONSANTO, yikes!), or refraining from going to certain establishments where (to me) there was social/economic/ religious right wing references or beliefs that I boycotted any association with Monsanto and others. Man, oh, man!

That's what I, as one person, is doing in this CC. I know they won't go bankrupt because of me, that's not my intention, but to pay for products (and I have to sometimes do research) like Monsanto, Cracker Barrel, and others...they just don't get my business.

I'm not asking anyone to join me. It would be interesting to have a discussion.... others of what of the FOUR areas are as pertaining to post or article.

What/why do they boycott or call out/call in?

In education, rarely yet happened a few times, I'd have to call out behaviors or mind sets in the classroom- we're talking adult learning as well as lovely 7th graders.

I engage with municipal, state, federal representatives to make our state better.

I prefer not to buy (I guess out of habit now vs. taking a stand) products that do harm or they unsaid practices that are offensive. Although inequality and police walk/protests were in our area, due to COVID, I didn't participate.
That is what Facebook is for these days, not a Cannabis Forum! Although, that was not the intent of Facebook.

Nobody is forcing any of these companies to take political positions. Refusing to buy their goods is a right of the consumer.
If we refuse to buy Chinese goods are we bullying China or are we just enforcing our own rights? Nobody is owed a business.
+1

“What we’ve got here is, failure to communicate...,

some men.. you just can’t reach.

So.., you get what we had here last week,

which.. is .. the way he wanted it.

Well,.. he gets it!

*Whistleing*

I don’t like it anymore than you men”.

(intro by Strother Martin, from film Cool Hand Luke, on song Civil war by Guns and Roses)
Eyes glad you mentioned the movie boss. I rememebered the line, just couldn't remember where I heard it

Hey, I get it, the end justifies the means, group bullying as a political tactic has been used in my lifetime going all the way back to Sen Joe McCarthy/Roy Cohn 'purging' suspected communists from the film industry, etc.

As a lifelong, 3rd generation Liberal Democrat, it sickens me no end to see the new left employing these tactics that used to be the provenance of the Republicans and Tricky Dick Nixon types, etc.;)

Hypocrisy

Hypocrisy is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another or the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform. In moral psychology, it is the failure to follow one's own expressed moral rules and principles.

If people stop going to those mega chains people wont lose jobs they will just go to whatever smaller company fills the gaps.
Big corporations aren't helping anyone really.... their BS about creating jobs is horse doo doo.

..... and since arid brought the subject up, there's something strange, I've always wondered about Mike Lindell.

.......... he looks Jewish, is highly successful and Lindell could easily be a Jewish last name.

Is that why he always wears that honkin' big Cross displayed on the outside of his shirt ....... so no one will think he's Jewish????:tiphat:

It’s to ward off the devil, but it doesn’t always work.

I doubt it has anything to do with being Jewish.
Judaism passes down through the mother. Having a Jewish last name doesn’t make you Jewish.
