Why do we go through this every time lol I'm not a communist. Telling you what communism is, isn't me promoting communism lol. Communism has nothing to do with dictatorships or government control or ownership of the means of production. Communism and classical anarchism seeks to end state control, class (rich v poor) and all forms of hierarchies. Which isn't even close to happening in the US.

Capitalism as a system has a vested interest to not promote communism or allow it or any other competing ideology to really exist for that matter. Like I said in the post you quoted. The US has a long history of supporting and grooming military dictators to beat socialists, communists and leftists in South American (& elsewhere) elections and/or coups.
This is basically one of Noam Chomsky's points on the subject and i tend to agree. If you have a monopoly on ideology (capitalism) why would you allow a competitor like communism which could potentially threaten everything if it were allowed to grow organically (without co-opting)? He obviously phrases it much better than I do. If I come across the material I'm talking about I'll post it up.
