The Existentialist philosopher Sartre said: "Hell is Others".

But I can't get along without them. Just need to remember they come in all colours, size, shapes and persuasions.

We're still hardwired for social contact, just as we were when we were cave dwellers and agrarians. The need was diminished with the industrial revolution, but the 'group identity' remained the same, more or less (just look at partisan group think, inter-family feuds, nationalism, sports team fans, etc.).

But anyone who has ever witnessed the goings-on in divorce court or family court knows that those who are closest to us, the most trusted in our inner circles, are often the folks who will break our heart or skewer us the most. Sometimes simply because they are the people we're most vulnerable to, but also because they are the folks who know our darkest secrets, or can identify the Achilles tendon we all tend to carry around, etc.

Our loved ones know the chinks in our armor, and we tend to take greater advantage of our loved ones, too.

Love's a 'need', but it can often surprisingly become convoluted or even absent in expression in what are supposed to be our most tender relationships.

S4L might've posted this cover tune video if he were still here. Nothing like a gorgeous young woman will phenomenal lead guitar skills.

Yes, that's how I see things too.

Sartre is OK ... he saw the Ying and Yang of it ... but his conclusions were dark ... he was not hopeful. He had grown up in the shadow of Europe's wars.

With war in Europe ... the Germans guilty of continuing to put up with Russia because of their dependence on Russian gas ... price rises etc etc it's also hard today to be hopeful.

Don't dwell, I guess ...

Qatar and that general area have chosen not to increase production. They will instead make their money by putting the price up.

So, we all know that we have really pissed Mother Earth off with all of the shit we have done to her oceans, her atmosphere but we haven’t really been rooting around too much inside. Just superficial surface stuff like mining and and oil pumping. But now you want to drill crazy deep holes.

Headline . . Las Vegas Sun . . . April 2, 2044 . . .

Geo Plant Spews Lava Threatening Las Vegas Strip

Lava is spewing out of a wellhead on the flanks of Frenchman Mountain from a 17.5 mile deep geothermal laser-drilled hole into the earth’s mantle. The well has inexplicably and unexpectedly encountered a pressurized lava stream. This plant replaced the Hoover Dam generating facility when the Colorado River ran dry in 2031. Fire crews are hosing down the advancing lava without much success . . .
