Checking in.

Actually in the process of trying to buy some land with a mile of Gold Medal river running through it.

Good thread!

I sat there and forgot and forgot, until what remained was the river that went by and I who watched. On the river the heat mirages danced with each other and then they danced through each other and then they joined hands and danced around each other. Eventually the watcher joined the river, and there was only one of us. I believe it was the river. -Norman Maclean

A fisherman, though, takes a hangover as a matter of course - after a couple of hours of fishing, it goes away, all except the dehydration, but then he is standing all day in water. -Norman Maclean

Odd it took me so long to look at this section of the forum and to find this title really made me smile. I to am a manic flyfisher man about 80 trips a year mostly in Alberta and the Bahamas once a year for a week or two. It's cold here in the canadian rockies and due to back problems I haven't skied in 4 seasons causing a serious case of winter shack nasties. Usually I simply tie flies to over come the nasties but have taken up gardening in the winter months legally and it's just as rewarding as tying. Nothing beats sitting down in my camp after a day of casting flies I've tied on rods that I've built drinking a river cooled beer smoking weed that I've grown.

OH yeah!! Lifelong flyrodder here. Grew up in the trout streams of New England, moved out to fishing the beaches and bays for striped bass and blues (before it was cool). I have traveled all over the tropics, and the lower 48 fishing just about everywhere. Now I am settled in Alaska for good.

I have done a lot of flyrodding all over North and South America and the islands, and so far tarpon on the fly is the ultimate. The explosive reaction once the line goes tight is unreal.

Tight Lines to you all.

I enjoy fishing small streams... mainly because that is all we have here in the desert southwest.

Flyfishing in the north

Flyfishing in the north

The season is just starting here in the northern norway!

Was out yesterday, caught a nice trout, approx. 2 kg. Good way to kick start the season... :dance013: I hope it's a good omen, and that it wont be the only one i catch this year...

It's still cold as shit out and almost no insects, so flyfishing in the north in June can be quite challenging.

I tried to fly fish, over and over, I had a river, the trout, the gear, the will, and I put in the time. To poor results, not even good enough to lie about. I could see the bloody fish, they heard me walking up to the river and just ignored me, and all that I could offer them.

And then I hear something 50 feet away through the dense folage, and there was a mother fucking poacher catching my trout with a damn net! I lost it.

At that time, on that land, it was my policy to fire a warning shot upon encountering tresspassers, I implemented my policy. Mofo [laotian, I think] thought he was gonna die, rather freaked my young son out as well. I escorted the chap, at gun point, back about a mile to his car, impressing upon him the importance of his never coming back there again, or his relatives. He did not get to keep his net.

Yep, I am one piss poor fly fisherman, couldn't keep myself alive, but poachers, them I kin catch.
