Do they use more charcoal/wood to cook their beef over in TX? Maybe it’s the wood flavor youre noticing? Most good steakhouses in the Midwest just use super hot grills, gas or infrared (electric?), not wood or charcoal, which I think is hard to do indoors.

If they’re filleted and breaded and deep fried, a bull testicle might not be that bad, probably not any worse tasting than liver I imagine. If im ever in a restaurant that serves it id probably try it sure. YOLO.
I think it’s more cans and containers that have a built in filtration system, or maybe it’s like hash bags where you pour water into a hanging bag and it passes through filters at the bottom and then into your water jugs. In fact, maybe you can use your hash bags, should filter out all the gunk right? Maybe throw in a water purification tablet too just to kill any remaining bacteria.

That lady is molly Schuyler, she’s insane, she’s like the female joey chestnut (the nathan’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] of July hot dog contest winner for like 10 yrs in a row). Eaters like that have crazy stomach capacity (they chug 2-3 gallons of water during training sessions to stretch their stomach, that would kill a normal person) and barely need to chew before swallowing their food (no gag reflex or something haha). With people like that they just use their hands to eat since utensils take too long, watching them eat it’s gross to be honest.

Btw, Hawk, I think Pop is right, NFLbite is the best streaming site for nfl games nowadays, so if you ever find yourself wanting to watch a game you cant catch on tv, maybe that site will give you a decent stream.

but it was prbably my fault and here is th jist of it

i think the beef in tx tastes better because its closer to the source of meat
we were not far from this place called herford where they raise like over half the worlds beef
i saw the feed lots and there were more cows than you would believe, plus the smell
the best steak i had was cooked over hard wood but even the regular steaks were great
i totally agree that eating contests are kind of gross, kind of like watching dogs eat or an animal
we dident get the rocky mountain oysters this time but i will next time, plus we will save one for you; yolo for sure man
i always knew you were a ball eating dude!
i would totally take an honest bite out of one to try it and see and you know mrsChicky would have a taste!

I hate it when I spend a decent amount of time writing up a post then lose it in a browser window, which is why I usually type mine up in a word or text editor program and then paste it over.
That makes sense why beef would taste better in TX. Chicago used to be the slaughterhouse capital of the US so you would think steaks would have been very fresh here but not sure much slaughtering goes on here anymore. Plus transporting terrified animals days to be slaughtered might affect the taste of the meat negatively.
Yeah, that’s the thing with eating contests, it’s pretty much the limit of what’s humanly possible, a bear could dominate a pro eater but that’s like comparing a fish to an Olympic swimmer. I think one time years ago that Kobayashi dude who dominated the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] of July hot dog eating contest before joey chestnut appeared on a tv show competing against a bear in a hot dog eating contest. He lost of course, the bear would just lick up hot dogs and swallow them whole, like 1sec per dog, no human can match that.
Im trying to find out what reviewers have said rocky mountain oysters taste like and it’s a cross between venison (gamey) and calamari (chewy) so yeah, doesn’t sound too bad, I like both. It helps they’re filleted and breaded and deep fried and served with a dipping sauce; you see those things before cooking and they look gross, white sacs with veins visible. Ugh no way.

This week we have a Thurs game, 2 Fri games, bunch of Sat games, 2 Sun games and a MNF game. So yeah, still preseason but a good chance to look at your team’s rookies, see if any of them could start week 1.

with the crazy covid schedule most places dopnt have the game times listed yet and its gotten harder to find out whats on tv, at least in the rpeseason
i used to go to this site called 506 sports for the local games, then adjust my viewing based on what i want to watch and whats on tv
i would often have one game on the tv screen and another game going in the background on the computer or tablet
i forgot to grab a new tablet while i was in tx, my sister has the exact same tablet i did but she dosent use hers and was going to give it to me
but i forgot
i saw a ton of feed lots in tx and some with big industrial facilities attached
slaugherhouses no doubt
the funny thing is, the bear does not kn0ow its a contest and is just eatting hot dogs while im sure thehuman is going all out
i wonder howmuch raw meat a bear could eat in like say three minutes
im not big on gamey but i dont mind chewy and with dipping sauces it would not be that bad
i would probably go witha more savory type sauce, like a ranch than a spicy
but who knows what goes best with the rm'oysters
just got back from the dmv and had to jump through a whole lot of hoops and still dont have real california tags yet

I usually go to espn to see the schedule of games, if it’s a national broadcast (nfl network, espn, nbc fox cbs etc) then it’ll say so, otherwise you can bet it will be aired locally.
I like to multitask when watching games as well but it’s so hard to keep track of the action, seems like I miss most of the big plays when I do that. But it is a cool experience, like going to a sports bar or casino bookmaker with all sorts of games on screens all over the place.
All my tablets broke and im too cheap to buy another one, I do have an old hand me down tablet/laptop with a keyboard (it flips all the way around in tablet mode) that’s annoying to use but sorta does the job.

I found the old Kobayashi vs bear on y-tube, haha they had him going up against a damn full grown grizzly bear. And it was just hot dogs, no buns, and Kobayashi was eating 2 dogs at once, could swallow 2 in like 10 secs but that bear was just gulping them down all casual like, it finished before Kobayashi was half done. Maybe a human would have a chance against something more human sized, like a juvenile bear, but a damn 5-600lb bear? Might as well have a weightlifting contest between a human and a silverback gorilla.

I hate going to the DMV, then not having all the stuff you need and having to go back again. Shit’s a waste of time but I guess they have to justify the bureaucracy.

Man, I never thought I’d say this but now I want to try rocky mountain oysters, even though I know the taste wont justify the hassle. Theyre not really sold in the steakhouses here but a few Mexican restaurants sell criadillas (or credillas) de toro which is the same thing but braised in a sauce instead of breaded and deep fried.

I try to spread around the mosquito granules in any low spots in my yard where mosquitos might breed in standing water, then I also spray a commercial bug killer around the trees/bushes and around the house and that tends to keep the nasty biters away. Still, it’s not a perfect solution and them buggers seem to love biting me more than people im with, I hear theyre attracted to the amount of carbon dioxide we exhale so maybe that’s why they love us…

i havent tried the granules, are they safe for other animals like chickens?
i do throw a few splashes of chlorine into some of the standing water barrels we have to keep them in check but this year seems to have a lot of them
yeah man, i never thought i would want to try them either but here we are
when i get another chance im going to get some for sure
the braised ones sounds more hard core, like you could eat anything if you batter it up enough and fry it
braised would be like eatting straight balls! but if you could eat that you would ttoally be able to eat the fried ones

I use the mosquito dunks, which contains a beneficial bacteria (Bacillus thuringiensis or BT) which is deadly to larvae but supposed to be safe for food plants and animals. It helps to keep them from breeding in standing water on your property but obviously can’t do much about mosquitos coming from outside your property which is why I use a pump sprayer (cheap gallon one from home depot for like $10) with a permethrin solution. Permethrin I think is derived from chrysanthemum flowers and is toxic to bugs including skeeters but not to animals/humans. Some people even spray the solution on their clothes to keep the skeeters away. I find when I spray the plants around my house and even the deck and walls a little it provides good protection for a few days to over a week. Lots of rain will wash it off though so sometime when I spray plants I try to get under the leaves since it wont wash off so easily there.
But also just regular old mosquito repellant like Off does the trick for me when im being eaten alive, they even sell like 70-80% DEET in the camping section of stores. It does leave your skin a little sticky though.

I’m pretty sure with big testicles most places will filet them before cooking, but with things like turkey testicles theyre too small to bother cutting up. Supposedly there’s a few turkey testicle festivals around IL, in the more rural areas. Doesn’t sound too appealing tbh. I know pretty much every part of an animal is consumable besides bones and fur but man, eating things like brain and testicles and heart and lungs and stuff is just too hardcore for me. I guess if you live in an area where meat is scarce you’ll eat everything though.

Hey Hawk, good to hear from you. Yeah, TX might be right up your alley if you can handle the summer heat; winters are nice though.
Fox should get you almost every game; there might be 2-3 games a year or so that the bears play on CBS, when theyre playing an AFC team. NBC for Sunday night football, ESPN for Monday night football, a mix of networks for Thurs night football. But hopefully you can catch a stream if it’s not on Fox.
Didn’t know the bears are playing the bills this week. Trubisky is definitely going to play, in fact im not sure josh allen might play at all in the preseason; there’s only 3 preseason games this year, he didn’t play in the first one and probably wont in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] one. So mitch might play a half or more.
He pretty much sucked his last 2 years here but you have to admit he handled the criticism better than someone like Cutler would have.
I’m not sure, Im glad he’s not on the team anymore but I don’t wish him any specific ill will. If anything knowing he got drafted ahead of mahomes and Watson and theyre making 40M/year as elite starters and he’s on a 1yr 2.5M contract to be a backup is punishment enough. He is what he is at this point, 5 yrs into his career, and that’s a perennial backup. Nothing to be ashamed of, he’s legit one of the 50 best QBs on the planet, but a far cry from what he could have been if, y’know, he actually got a lot better in the pros instead of stagnating.

No worries Pop, we all wanted mitch to succeed, and just grew steadily more disappointed at his shortcomings. It was better for both sides to break up.
I think there’s like a zero percent chance of this happening, but if he does turn out to be a good QB later on then ill get pissed, haha, like where was this when you were on the bears?!?

I think there are a few black NHL players now, more than there used to be even 10 years ago, so that’s something. Probably still very few or nonexistent Hispanic and Asian NHL players though.

I think rocky mountain oysters are a common dish served in beef country, where a lot of cattle are raised and slaughtered: TX, CO, etc. Pop saw that on a menu in a steakhouse there but didn’t try it. Ive seen YT videos on it, I think the CO Rockies baseball team serves them in their stadium. I’d try it just to YOLO.
An internet search says there are supposedly a few turkey testicle festivals in IL but I imagine they’re smaller affairs. Definitely sweet corn festivals are more popular haha.

Ok, last story about animal genitals, but years ago I dated this one girl who took me and my buddy to an Argentinian steakhouse in the city. She urged us to order the ‘sweetmeat’ platter and I didn’t know what that was but turns out it was all the organ meat from the cow, grilled up: liver, heart, maybe lung, maybe brain, maybe there were even testicles im not sure. Don’t know cause me and my buddy took a few bites and noped the fuck out. And of course she didn’t take one bite haha, she ate a regular steak instead. Wasn’t too happy about that, like why would you encourage me to eat something you find too gross to eat yourself? Do you see me eating all sorts of kind of gross stuff when there’s all this delicious food on the menu?

I used the mosquito dunks for my indoor grows to keep the gnats out, didn’t seem to work too well since I still got gnats, lol, but maybe not as many as before. I think the dunks work best when there’s standing water, which there shouldnt be around your plants, at least not for long.

Man we could use some 60’s round here, temp wise it’s topped out at low 80s but with the high humidity and in the sun, it feels like 95 no cap.

I haven’t had Indian in a while, most of the Indian restaurants around here are a little pricey like it’s just potatoes and cheese why is this dish $10? Lol there’s some cheap indo-pak places in the city but it’s a little too far to be convenient and plus the woman isnt too fond of Indian food, she’ll eat it but it’s not really her fave.

I hear there’s a national change (coin) shortage so maybe that had something to do with it? But yeah everyone uses cards (debit and credit) or even using their phones (apply pay, google pay). I hear when you go to big festivals like Coachella you buy a wristband with a chip on it and put money on it at a terminal and then use that to pay for stuff at the vendors inside. Maybe it’s just a matter of time before we all get payment chips implanted under our skin. At least you’ll never forget your wallet haha.

Last night the patriots beat up on the eagles, i think joe flacco started for the eagles, jalen hurts didnt even play. Both Cam and Matt Jones played well for new england, who knows, jones might turn out to be the best of the rookie QBs?

Except for injury, trevor Lawrence almost surely wont be a bust. Even if he never gets one bit better than he was in college he’s about an average NFL starter, and of course if he gets better every year then he’s a multiple time All-pro and pro bowl selection.

I wish we could see some of Stafford in the preseason but almost certainly he wont play till week 1, Sunday night football vs da bears. Not sure what to expect, bears D is still pretty good but Stafford and that offense could put up 30 on them, and aaron Donald might get 3 sacks vs our bottom 10 O-line. At least if Fields is starting then he has a chance to scramble, Dalton and foles have no shot at outrunning Donald.

Rams have been going all in since 2019, that’s why they don’t have a 1[SUP]st[/SUP] rd pick till like 2026. I think mcvay is still a highly regarded coach but like any coach he needs good players, goff couldn’t hack it once the team around him got worse but Stafford is used to carrying crap teams. If anyone’s on the hot seat it might be their GM, Les Snead, who gave big contracts to Goff and Gurley and Cooks and had to trade them and eat cap hits when those investments went south. But if mcvay cant hack it with Stafford then yeah he could be gone too, but always when you fire a coach you have to think can I get anyone better? What if the next guy is worse?

We got a couple Friday games tonite, chiefs and cardinals and bengels vs WFT at 7pm. Get to see Joe Burrough, I think justin Herbert will have the better season, ur right he has the better roster. Burrough has his old LSU teammate, Jamarr chase, as his receiver now so that’s a weapon for him but his O-line might still be crap.
I know Pop and I will be watching the bears at noon on Sat as they go up against the bills with trubisky but that rams game isnt till 9pm CST, might be a little too late, plus mcvay never plays his starters. Still, might be worthwhile to watch the two rookie 7[SUP]th[/SUP] rd RBs play (one of them is white too) to get a feel if they need to upgrade that position later on.

This wasn't one of those Brazilian AYCE steakhouses where they bring the meat on skewers and slice off as much as you want, ive been to those a couple times in my life, theyre good but it is pricey, theyre like $40 ten years ago probably more like 60-70 bucks a person now. Not sure I would want to spend $150+ for dinner for two, for that much I could buy a bunch of meat and grill it at home and eat for a week not one day haha.

Dang Hawk you haven’t had a drink in 5 days? You didn’t get the DT’s? That’s great though that you were able to lay off the sauce for almost a week, I think that’s the longest ive been able to go without drinking recently. I guess it give me more clarity but ur right, sometimes you want to get a buzz on. And definitely for that game yesterday alcohol would have helped, Dalton was down 34-6 at halftime, when Fields came on da bears were down 41-6. Fields moved the offense some but final score was 41-15. Trubisky was dicing up the bears D, looking decisive and accurate and better than he ever has in a bears uniform. Maybe it’s our terrible coaching that ruined him?
I think Nagy is insistent that Dalton will start week 1 vs the Rams, if only to protect Fields from getting injured behind our terrible Off line, but once aaron Donald suplexes Dalton into a coma fields will have to come in. At least with his legs, if a play breaks down he can still pick up 1[SUP]st[/SUP] downs, extend drives, etc.

I didn’t get to drink during the game either so we were in the same boat, ah well. Hopefully you get your first check soon. Have you ever considered making your own booze? All it takes is like some sugar and yeast right? Prison hooch style, haha, but seriously if you can make booze in freaking prison why can't we? I even got some bread yeast that i never use cause im too lazy to make my own bread lol.

Im thinking the bears promised Dalton he would be the starter week 1 in order to get him to sign with them, so literally he could start week 1 but get pulled at halftime if he continues to suck. In his defense he wasn’t working with the first team offense, at least the skill players (Arob, DMont, etc) so maybe he’ll be better with all the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] string around him.

So yeah, you cant take preseason too seriously, every preseason game I look up the stats and theyre all guys I never heard of or if ive heard of them theyre backups who hardly ever play in the regular season. If you had to roll out a lineup of all 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] string guys during the season yeah you’re looking at a 1 or 2 win season but every team, even if theyre playing starters in the preseason, it isnt all the starters. Bears D looked bad against Mitch but none of the starting linebackers played, plus every preseason game they only call very vanilla, basic plays. Im pretty sure mitch would struggle when you bring some exotic blitzes or coverages with the starters. I don’t wish him ill specifically but it would burn my craw if he turned out to be very good after he leaves the bears.

there are a few brazillain steak houses here in san diego and they are pretty awesome

they also had a crazy salad selection, like crabs salad and stuff like that plus good veggie salads so i was worth the price
