whats up everyone,

another year of wonderful football is upon us and I am even more excited now that i have direct tv, I got the nfl package after years of dreaming about it.....I am a Cowboys fan so I be pretty happy the past week:woohoo:......But got fantasy teams to cheer about today as well so I got plenty to scream in anger and joy throughout the day.....Also I like gambling on games, I know some people like to go to the casino play slots, back jack, craps, hold'em, etc...But for me I like putting money down on a games college or nfl....

I'd like to keep the thread about all football NFL especially and discuss games to fantasy match up to spreads.....So if anyone else is a fan join in....

I usually don't like to put money down on games til week 5 of game usually gives me a better idea of which teams are real and which have been overhyped by the media, espn in general....but today I like three games Pats -5.5 New Orleans -7 and Houston -12.....my underdog pick would be Indy at +9.5 I think luck is gonna be that good, won't win in chicago but I think he'll keep it close.....

Enjoy Sundays AGAIN!

Saints are 0-2, looks like they miss Payton's playcalling more than most people thought they would.
What i dont get is they named joe vitt interim head coach even though he was going to be suspended for the first 6 games of the year, so he coaches the team through training camp and preseason and then aaron kromer takes over as interim-interim head coach? Why not name a head coach who, you know, is actually going to be there for the whole year? Or am i just oversimplifying things?

bababooey, Payton is def missed in New Orleans just look at how much Brees misses him, don't get me wrong he's moving his offense but he's been making more errors than normal, that pick 6 he threw in the end zone was just terrible....Also I don't understand the reasoning behind the coaching moves, seems like they trusted too much on Brees to carry the team the first 6 weeks, even then joe vitt is no sean payton...I feel its a down year for the saints without payton....

We got Broncos at Atlanta tonight, atlanta -4, If I had to bet I'd take Den+4 but I am not betting so easier said then done, that being said I know Atlanta is one of the best home teams in football but I feel Peyton can keep it within a field goal plus they got a good kicker who can make one in a dome from 60yrds or so...

also saw already other peeps posting in the thread from last year for this year, I am all about keeping this to one thread no need for two, so we can just toss this one and use the other or vice versa....

Watts, I actually think the refs screwed themselves, this time last year I feel we were all talking about how awful the refs were. This year they really haven't been that bad but its apparent they have people all over the field to help the refs too, you see all those dudes run over to refs during close calls or instant replays....Also the regular refs want a pension which they don't pay into, why should they deserve a part of it then?....plus I think those refs have it pretty sweet they don't work much more then 10-15 hrs a week, get paid much better than most high paid people in the workforce....on top of that most refs already have such great jobs as lawyers, doctors, professors, there are high standards to become a ref so the ref job is a part time gig that pays as much as their regular jobs....

Well, whoever started Peyton in their fantasy leagues this week regretted it.
After all the talk about he's back, those 3 INT's in the first quarter brought everyone back down to earth. I chalk it up to nerves more than ability, though. Peyton's not as mentally sturdy/oblivious as his brother, and i feel when the lights are brightest (ie Superbowls) his focus tends to waver a bit...

I'm 0-2 in one of my fantasy leagues so far, the one where i have stafford as my starting QB. I hope he turns it around quick, I have both him and Megatron on that team. They play the Titans next, who have been giving up a ton of points so far, so hopefully this is the week they both shine...

the donkeys should have lost by a whole lot more than 6 points last night. i have won a lot of money off die hard bronco fans in the last 5 years, but this year they might actually get something back.

don't count manning out until he leaves the field on a stretcher. if he would have gotten his hand on the ball one more time i think it would have been different.

hard to call it when they are only 2 games into the season

baba, its sure looks like Peyton's arm isn't what it used to be, those tight spirls are more wobbly now, he is certainly gonna need some time to get back into the swing of things. I think he still has a legit chance to win another super bowl, probably a 3-5 year window max. As far as fantasy he's looking like his dominance is a thing of the past. Stafford should be fine, last week vs the niners was no easy game, that D is for real not many QB's gonna slice them up, look at week 1 they made Aaron Rodgers look mortal....

greenmatter, def hard to tell plus playing in Atlanta is no easy task for any team, but I agree they should have lost by more, don't know if that a knock on atlanta or a sign of peyton getting into the swing of nfl speed again...

You make some very good points, Otto.
Peyton's arm strength is now league average at best but his strength has always been his accuracy and his recognition. His last two years playing his velocity was nothing special and he got along just fine.
I agree, he wont get back to his 4k yard, 40 td/yr level but i think he can average 2 tds a game. At least i hope he does, i offered to trade for him in my other league.

The Bronco's defense is pretty stout, is why i think the falcons didnt win by more. To have 3 1st quarter int's and only come away with 10pts? You knew then that it would be a struggle for them to score if they didnt get better in a hurry. Which they didnt. So the Falcons offense can't just roll over a good defense.

baba, totally agree 2tds a game and throw for 3,800-4,000 yrd is completely reasonable plus we can't forget just how important his brain is, that alone helps them win a couple games at least....probably the smartest and best regular season (NOT post season) QB to ever play the game....also baba what were you looking to give up for manning in that trade?

Nosmo, not many people can argue with you right now, they're are making a strong case of being the best team in the NFL

Watts, I originally started this thread cause I didn't see the other 2011 one then I noticed a few people posting on that thread that's why i mentioned we dump this one no need for two football threads, maybe we can get him to change the title to 2012 rather than 2011 to not confuse newer people wanting to join in....or just keep this one if it easier I can careless either way...

Interesting start so far to the season. I think the scab refs are getting worse as the game speed picks up.

Did anyone see that horrible pass interference call in the Steelers/Jets game? Holmes came across the middle, Ike Taylor is covering him cleanly and then as the ball comes in Ryan Clark launches himself into Holmes and breaks up the play. Completely clean. Ref flags Taylor for PI. Terrible call.

As the season progresses games will get faster and they'll likely do even worse refereeing. Steve Young nailed it, though. People will keep watching regardless so what is the incentive for the NFL to give in?

The union/league beef is tough, a pension for a part time job? Hard to back that but a 401K is a total joke. Then again it's a part time job that pays upwards of $170K. Not to mention, the regular refs are willing to support an agreement that says current refs are grandfathered for the pension, new refs get the 401K. Pretty sketchy IMO.

Week 3 is gonna be interesting. Potential for a lot of contending teams to go to 1-2. Like Yogi said, it gets late early. :D

Rasp, missed that call but its apparent the players have no respect for the replacement officials, don't get me wrong they are getting calls right but it takes them forever, the speed of the game is a little too much for these guys, I feel they haven't blown any games yet but if I gotta sit threw another hour and a half quarter like monday night i'll be switching channels more often...Also couldn't agree more about week 3 and contending teams, I have to say this and its kind of a bold statement but I think the Pats are in some trouble this year. Brady is starting to show his age and I believe is currently "on watch" under Bellicheck, he doesn't move around in the pocket well anymore and he can't make all the same throws, I've actually heard rumors of Bellicheck actually being worried about him ever being the same again.....

I heard about that Taylor PI call but so far the ref'ing hasnt bothered me too much, although its not something i pay much attention to. Plus, there were plenty of complaints about the regular refs, maybe not to this degree but still.
The Giants backups looked better than their starters, and Cam is looking positively average this season. Although constant pressure in your face will make any great QB look befuddled, and his line was getting dominated last night...

49ers look like the team to beat so far....Best Defense and Offensive Line...Shit they havent even had to unleash Moss yet...Once they down in a game ...they will let him run wild on the Deep Route...Keep him Fresh until then...

Texans O-Line looks insane too...Foster and Tate running wild so far....

Adrian Peterson is not Human...I repeat...is Not HUMAN ...Freak of Nature!

Babba, I couldn't agree more about Cam, sad this is I have him on my fantasy team. He is nice to have on a fantasy team but he still needs a long way to go as a starter in the NFL....He's got the arm, size, and toughness, it just above the shoulders with him....

burns, yes yes SF is looking strong....

Storm Shadow, you very right so far the amazing thing is this, just a couple years ago this team was average pretty much with all the same personnel. It goes to show what a good coach can do in this league, Harbaugh seems like one of those guys who is a complete dick unless he is on your side, then you love him. All that a side he is the reason the team is doing so well IMO...I mean com on he's got people calling Alex Smith a decent QB now, he def is one of the best coaches in the league. Not ranking on Alex but there is a reason why Harbaugh tried to bring Peyton in quietly over the off season; Smith is nothing but a game manager with his best attribute being not turning the ball over. Then again if Trent Dilfer can win a super bowl its not out of the question Alex Smith can, if he did though he be one of the worst QB's ever to win a SB....Also I feel Moss is all washed up, all you have to do it cover him over the top and he isn't a threat, they brought him in to help open up the run game a little more cause Smith isn't that much of a down field threat, good move by Harbaugh....

Watts, really hard to tell who the best team is at the moment, thats why I like betting on game starting week 6, gives you 5 games to evaluate teams which should give ya a idea of who is real and who is not.

Ive wacthed Randy Moss play football since his Marshall days... I can tell you one thing....he's so far from being washed up its not even funny.... They havent had the need to unleash him yet... The defense is keeping them up in games and allowing them to run Gore all day... 49ers have been playing with a lead for the most part...when they got the redzone last week...Moss drew a flag that gave Gore a 1-yard TD... If the 49ers are down in a game... Randy is going to run all over the field... I mean come on...Joey Galloway was like 35 years old his last years with Tampa bay and had an awsome year with over a 1,000 yards and 10tds... Randy's new attitude is insane... Harbaugh is an amazing coach...

New Refs are slowing the game down too much .... Im hoping Calvin Johnson explodes tommarow... need to put an end to that damn Madden Curse :)
