Need advice-- 7yr old Sheperd with bone cancer

Hi, I'm new to the site... I was lead here by googling dogs with cancer and came across the boxer with bone cancer thread... The person never did reply how the dog made out...?

I have a 7 yr old female German Shepherd named Vesta, 4 days ago I brought her to the vet with a bump on her rear left leg, was limping, I thought she hurt it fucking around with my other sheps... They do play hard :/ .. Turns out its bone cancer. The vet said its aggressive and it probably has already spread. he suggested amputation followed by chemo and radiation... I'm opting outta the chemo and radiation.
I'm unsure about the amputation... She has hip problems and I'm not sure she can make it being a one legged dog. I mentioned pot oil to him as an alternative... He said, and I quote "what does she have to lose? And it will also help with the pain". He said he's skeptical about all the claims made for curing cancer but the survival rate for bone cancer is very low 0% without amputation, rad and chemo... With all that crap.. 50% for a year... That just ain't good enough for me.

I put her on RSO that afternoon, made from critical kush from Barney's farms.. Suppose to have 2.1 cbd 25% thc...
I had some on hand because I have made some 4 months ago to a guy I work with, he has/had lung cancer that spread to his ribs.. Had some ribs cut out and opted out of rad and chemo.. 4 months later.. The surgeon can't see any tumours on the X-ray.. He's cured, I guess.. I'm still in shock about the whole thing... I keep thinking they made a mistake... But he seems sure and he's back to pt work and feeling better. We just got the good news a week ago, then my dog gets cancer. Fuck!!

I started at 1 grain... But was too much for her... Went down to a 1/2 grain 2x a day... I'm just scared dosage is to low to help. I will try and build it up tho. And I'm giving her omega 3-6-9 gel caps.

I'm looking for advice from people who have dealt with dog cancer.
Should I do the amputation and continue with RSO? Or will the oil fix the leg as well... Maybe I should just wait and see how it goes...

I'm freaking out... It's just too hard to think clearly when it's close to home. Please help me with some advice.

And for those about to tell me I'm fucked for giving my dog oil... Just move on to another thread... I've talked to my vet about it... He never said anything about her liver... So beat it.

I want to know why you're opting out of the chemo and radiation? I know very little about it. I just know if it were my dogs i would do everything a good quality vet would say has the highest chance of the best outcome. I love the idea of the oil helping or curing the cancer but i think rick simpson oil is the type to do that. Thc from what ive learned isnt the key its cbd. Even then the results arent very consistent. First, id get a second opinion and make sure the vet has tons of experience or is a specialist in the field of canine cancers. Good vets are hard to come by, some are young and fresh from their education that involved newer techniques. Then there are the older vets with more experience but could lack the info on newer methods. Im so sorry to hear about this and i really hope for a good outcome. There are forums for this exact thing too. Dog forums are very very helpful. Im not saying im against the oil but i think if theres something with more consistent proven good results you should do all you can. Do you have pet insurance? Vpi or someone like them is a good idea. Honestly, playing vet at home with some random oil is not a good idea. You need a second or even third opinion and then to go with whats most likely to help. Just giving the dog any oil is not a good idea or fair to the dog. I wish you the best of luck.

Out of curiosity, is she spayed? If so at what age was this done?

I grew it and made it by Rick Simpson protocol and decarbed. I also have CBD Shark seeds and I'm growing them immediately. But that won't be ready for months. it's 6% cbd and 6% thc... It's also unproven.. The critical kush has worked. But my friend from work had surgery to remove some tumours on the rib and bones.... I'm just not sure if I should go ahead with the amputation to remove the large tumour. Rick Simpson would say no to chemo and radiation. FORSURE.

well the litter of pups could explain why she has hip problems. it sounds like the prognosis is pretty grim and I'm so so very sorry for your bad news! I would rub the RSO oil on the lump. that's what rick simpson did was topical applications if I remember right. I think you should enjoy your time with her now. even with the amputation the Dr said 50% chance she's get another year and she'll be in pain the whole time just so you don't have to put her down. imho, I think that's selfish to prolong her misery if she's in so much pain and there is not a good chance at all she's survive very long. this would be the hardest decision ever for me. I'm all misty-eyed just thinking about it.

If you do everything you can to help your family member. How much will she suffer. Animals do not react the same way humans do. If she is going to suffer then you need to stop that immediately. let her go with as little pain/suffering as possible. Its one of the hardest things we do as animal lovers. they are a part of our family. She needs you now more then ever. be there for her when she goes to sleep it will be the last thing she remembers it will comfort her. I know I have been there. When its time for me to do it again it wont hurt any less then it did the 1st time. My dogs is part of my life..

1st you need to find out if the cancer has spread. they can take a biopsy of the lymph nodes. if it has spread theirs nothing you can do..

The CBD ratio needs to be much higher. its not the THC that helps its the high CBD levels you want.

Okay... Thanks for the advice on how to put my bf to "sleep" guys...
ALL dogs with bone cancer have the same odds... I still haven't given up on my patient. I've had to mercy kill one before... There isn't a day goes by that I don't think about it...

Rick Simpson oil... Is also good pain med. I thought being a Marijane site you guys would be a little more enlightened. Unfortunately, there is some pain, but she is getting RSO 2x a day, there is also a very real chance she will beat this... So I will give it a chance to work before I kill her. But if it continues to spread and I am unable to stop this... I will do what is necessary. Until then, I need any constructive advice you people can offer.

I have saved a co worker with this very same strain, thank god no one put him to "sleep" before the oil had time to work.

I'm going to ask on the Rick Simpson face book page.. I will check back to see if anyone has positive recommendations.

Thanks

I can't get anything higher in cbd at this moment.. I'm starting cbd shark shock and I'm trying to distill some of the oil I have, cook at 355. Degrees Fahrenheit to boil off some of the thc so I can give a concentrated cbd extract.. The girlfriend tried some, it knocked her out without the high... very sedative.. that is the quality ricksimpson says to look for in an extract. She also has used the undisstiled oil in the past to cure ovarian cysts, successfully.

Do you really think it was YOU that saved your co worker? Not the surgery to remove the tumors!? That seems a lil off man. Im feeling bad for you but real is real and thats just unlikely with that low of cbd. Decarbed low cbd and high thc oil is everywhere and it is not the same thing as rick simpson oil. You need the cbd. Even then, does cbd have the data to back up the percentages of success as the chemo and radiation? When the vet said 50% was that for the dog to survive one year or for the dog to have a 50% chance of being cured after a year of treatment?

SHAKES HEAD. You need to listen the the vet.. I would have given the same advice if it was a human. I watched my mother die from cancer. I had cancer, My sister had cancer. I know all to well about suffering. I will leave it at that. I wish you and your BF all the best

Yes the oil saved my coworker... 3 weeks after surgery he was already on the oil, went for X-ray which showed numerous small tumours that remained, he opted out of chemo and radiation... He told the doctor about the oil and the doctor set a follow up for 3 months.. He Only used the oil!!!... 3 months later went for follow up... The tumours are gone. So how the fuck did surgery get rid of the remaining tumours??? Why the fuck would I lie?? You fucking dummies need to give your heads a shake... People like you argue about shit you know nothing about, please educate yourself before you talk someone outta doing the right thing and saving lives. There is nothing good about chemo or radiation... Except for the fact it makes big pharma loads of cash.
Ps. It's not me that saved him... It's Rick Simpson that did... I'm just the guy that had some on hand to help him out.

well it sounds like you know what you're gonna do so why are you asking advice? you obviously don't like the answer anyone including the vet is giving you. the first stage of grief is denial then anger. I'm sorry for your situation. i truly am but no need to be a dick.

Whoa dude. I was just trying to understand. Def were details you left out. All i knew was he had surgery to remove the tumors and you gave him oil you made. Not that there were remaining tumors that went away. Big detail there.

I got a reply from Rick Simpson... He says to hold off on amputation, and also use topical version on the skin around tumour, I will make tomorrow after work.
I'm not sure if its right or wrong. Is there any right answers when it comes to cancer..???
I'm just glad I'm doing something. Because I'm not a rich guy either and I doubt I could afford the big $$$ the vets would want for traditional treatment.
I,m sorry if I was a little short fused, I do tend to panick in these types of situations.
