Firefox lets you resume downloads, where IE has problems with large files.
opera I've tried and I like but firefox just works nice.

It's disheartening to see so many Firefox users, as it performs worst on every benchmark out of every browser. People are clearly misinformed into believing it is somehow good. You've probably been convinced by some "tech savvy" friend of yours at one point or another that Firefox is where it's at. Let me clear that up for you.

Javascript engine performance (do you know why your Facebook runs like shit? Firefox)

javascript_wgreen.png

Cold and warm start up times (again, Firefox is shit. 16 seconds to load the fucking browser. No thank you.)

Tab loading times (Firefox loses)

Page rendering times (C'mon guys, why the fuck are you using Firefox?)

Not to mention, developing content for a Firefox-centric web is generally pretty miserable. It doesn't abide by W3C standards any more than IE does. Who knows what's going to happen when HTML5 is mainstream (by the way, HTML5 standards were authored by Google and Apple engineers working in tandem--fun trivia).

Though Firefox is certainly due its merits (pioneering tabbed browsing, providing a pleasant open-source development platform for script kiddies, establishing a great community for sharing ideas, and revolutionizing the browser extension), all of its ideas have been gleaned and made better by its competitor(s). A community developed browser like Firefox simply doesn't have the monetary "oomf" to rise to the next level. For this reason, one can see why Firefox's market share has plateaued and is beginning to drop (http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp).

Though Google is probably evil, they clearly have the budget and incentive to make the best browser. Take the training wheels off your web browsing experience and give Chrome a shot.

P.S. If you're concerned about adblock, there are (better) alternatives on Chrome such as Privoxy. There are also plenty of other extensions to muck around with.

I know i'm bumping a very old thread, but IE11 sucks donkey dicks..

was browsing a stereo site (no, it wasn't porn) and a fucking popup (I have most of them blocked) said I needed a new Adobe flash player.

Like a dumb-ass, I clicked it and it loaded... (It was a real Adobe download..)

Browser immediately fucked up and I ended up running Malwarebytes and found a Trojan, among a bunch of other shit...Quarenteened and deleted it...

Browser is all fucked up now..
In fact, ICmag is one of the VERY few websites I can even get on now... IC must have some bad-ass servers..

Tried uninstalling IE11 but it just reduced me to IE8...
Was able to get it back to IE10...
Still sucks donkey dicks.....

Offline, my computer works perfectly fine..

I can't even download Firefox or Chrome right now...

Man, I'm pissed off! I'm no computer expert, but I'm not a computer dummy either...
Looked around in my registry and found nothing out of order, but it's so big I can't look everywhere.

Thinking about doing a new back-up of my personal stuff and trying to find a Dell Windows7 OS disc, doing a total format and a clean install.. What a Pain in the ass that is...

Any other suggestions?

Chrome, about 150 windows open.

Firefox, about 30 windows open.

+ Seamonkey (continuation of Netscape, managed for Mozilla.)

I have to re-boot about once a day because memory just gets bogged.

Run Ubuntu instead of Windows and you won't have that problem.

Run Ubuntu instead of Windows and you won't have that problem.

Got too many apps that are installed on Windows 7, purchased via educational discount.

If I ever go back to a corporate job and ask to have "all my apps" on my new computer, it will raise eyebrows because Adobe Autodesk etc. are FLEECING people.

But Blender runs on Ubuntu. That's a good start.

I use chrome, but I"m thinking of switching to Firefox. I suffer from too-many-tabs syndrome and chrome hogs up all my memory. I'm also not cool with one company having access to my email, browsing, and search history...even if it is most likely benign.
