My favorite artist is my little nephew. The joy and pride I see in his eyes when he hands his Uncle Joe some of his art work is priceless. I have a refrigerator that's covered with it and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

jean-michel basquiat.http://artobserved.com/artimages/2008/06/basquiat-nyo.jpg

clayton pinkerton(google images has a very hard time finding any of his work, there are a couple good examples).http://images.artnet.com/artwork_images_424543416_600854_clayton-pinkerton.jpg

jean dubuffet(favor his earlier work, 1940s, before it got more cartoon/illustrative).http://madamepickwickartblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Dubuffet11.jpg

mark rothko(classic abstract expressionist master, color blocking, a must see in real life, photographs on the internet do absolutely no justice).

you can probably tell i love the visceral intuitive nature of abstract expressionism. the energy and spontaneity creates many areas of interest and information, it stimulates the mind, and keeps the viewer fully engaged. i have a huge bias for abstract expressionism, i am always ready to lay down some art appreciation on the ignorant asses.

charlie isoe, currently becoming recognized. look him up, i guarantee something about his work will inspire you.

^ the juxtapositions in his work, from tight illustrative to loose washy unfinished, as well as his brilliant contrast, plays on perspective, and graffiti aspects, it's awesome.

This is just some of the artists I really like. I chose artists that had not been mentioned yet. I am a fan of Alex Grey, Basquiat, and several others that were already mentioned.

These artists are Adam Scott Miller(1,2,16,17), Pablo Amaringo(3,6,7), Luke Brown(4,5), Mark Henson(8,9,10), Goya(11,12), Robert Venosa(13,14), and Amanda Sage(15).

Zdzisław Beksiński
bekskinski.jpg

Beksinski is a polish painter who does a lot of macabre surrealism and dark ambiance fantasy, other painters that come to mind are Norman Rockwell. I also like a lot of graphic novelists such as Jean 'Moebius' Girarde, Junji Ito, Theodore Giesel, and Jim Woodring. Art for me mainly pertains to traditional animation so there's a ton of animators I like; another post or another thread not off topic lol
