Element Nutrients has a pretty good bloom booster called Flower Fuel. They just came out with a base nutrient salt that caught my interest. Element Nutrients Complete Crop 9-5-15 is an interesting product.

It has some really unique features.
  • The NPK is good for start-to finish growing.
  • The calcium content is 6%, so you can get away without a cal-mag supplement as long as your pH is in check. The cal-mag ratio is 3:1, so it is suitable for soil and hydroponics.
  • It has kelp, aminos, chelated micronutrients, vitamin B-1 and a humate (*more about that later) as biostimulants
  • The big difference with this product compared to any other on the market is that it has 7:1 nitrate:ammoniacal nitrogen to help keep pH from drifting up over a longer period.
There were a couple things that could use improvement:
  • Leonardite is an awful source of humate in this formula. It contains very little soluble fulvic acid. The carbon content may encourage microbial bloom in hydroponics. It may also cause precipitation and biofilm in hydroponics if using hypochlorous acid or the pH drifts up.
  • There is overlap/redundancy with B vitamins and kelp with their Flower Fuel bloom booster.
  • It is $25 for kilo making it one of the most expensive soluble salts on the market.
The features are great in Complete Crop from Element Nutrients. If you can justify the price tag for a truly all-in-one base nutrient it may be a great product to use in your garden.
