Holy Grail 1.x an introduction

I have worked on this strain for the past few years and its easliy the most rerequested strain I run thru the room. Its a cross of Brothers Grimms C99 to some old Federations Mikado I have kept going. [ if someone else has already done this cross to you'll have to pardon the name.]

While its hard to generally improve on C99 I was experimenting with making it a more potent medicinal quality smoke. The Mikado I have I find is beyond that and for most purposes is kinda on the too strong side. The cross however is a beautiful mix of the two resulting in some easy to grow top notch smoke that smells great, yields comparable to C99, and is highly uniform.

The plant starts developing a light smell around dime size puff buds around 21 days into flower. Scents vary from the piney Mikado side to the fruity smells of the C99. As the plants develope those scents start to range and vary a bit like being around bulk candy bins. The scents seem to be oddly familiar like something from childhood you just quite cant pinpoint.

Theres more to say but lets get on to the pics. Heres a slew of Grail babies getting a nice start looking as uniform as can be.

Heres the progression of the initial 27 Grail babies. They'll usually show small preflowers on the top internodes [ only where the branch meets the stalk] around 6-9 inches tall making sexing a breeze long before needing to flower. So I ended up with 15 females out of 27 plants and transplanted 14 into 5 gallon buckets while saving one female for a friends outdoor garden.

I like my females to have a nice established rootbase in their last bucket before going into flower. This makes for zero transplant stress during flower times. I also waited until I was sure I had the best male of the remaining 12 to seed this batch. The small square pot is the selected male. Everything still looking pretty uniform.

As the progress continues we find the ladies around day 18 into flower out of an expected 55-60 days on plants around 32-36" tall so far with a wee bit of height left to go.

Thanks, heres an update of the lone female outside. We decided that with the plant being already over five feet this early in the season that we would tie it down sideways after the photo session.

That's great verite! I take it those are the f1's and you're making f2 parental selections from that group? Do you have any pics of the parents? I'm also curious about what brand and pheno of c99 you're using. Thanks for sharing the pics. Looking good!

I thought people might get up-in-arms over the name. I, for one, don't find it presumptuous or offensive in the slightest. :)

Especially since I've been enjoying some of Verite's HG buds for a few weeks now and have been thoroughly impressed. The smell is extremely unique and I won't even attempt to identify it. Very pleasant with a rank bite to it.

The high has that excellent, clear Cindy hightype but with a little bit of sinister thrown in there. It has an evil edge to it, but not enough to put you into paranoia territory-- Just enough to make it interesting.

The potency is excellent... personally, I can share a bowl with a friend and I'm GOOD for a few hours. Like way good.

For the record, I don't know Verite but was sent a nice sample from a friend of his, so my opinion of this smoke is pretty much non-biased. I was very pleasantly surprised by the end product. In fact, I was blown away.

Excellent work, V. I'd say you DID manage to improve on the C99, while taking nothing away from it. Congratulations.
