20k watts sounds way cooler than 3k 🤷‍♂️

So we finally passed medicinal here this past election and are quickly approaching being able to grow. I decided to go ahead and get a jump start so when the regs come down I’ll be ready to plant. I decided to use a portable building for the build out and designed it and started work on it. I changed directions a few times during the build out but I think I’ve finally settled in on the finished product. My area is 15x11 and I had planned on having 4 raised beds with a walkway between each bed. After I finished building the beds it looked like way to much wasted space, so I decided to build one more bed bigger than the other 4 and put all the beds on rollers so I could utilize every inch I could. I have 20 led lights that claim they are putting out 1k watts of light but only draw 150 actual watts a pice. I have two 6 inch scrubbers mounted in opposite corners of the room and a 2 ton mini split ac I am installing in the next few days. I also have a co2 injection setup I will be plumbing in this week as well. How does it look to you guys?

Sorry to say that it ain't no 20k of light, no matter what marketing says. But it sure sounds nice (smile).

How are you planning to drain those grow boxen? Why do you feel you need CO2?

It’s a sealed room and running living soil. I will only ever water with plain water and will not be watering to runoff. Yeah I know it ain’t 20k of light but it sure sounds cool lmao

Generally speaking, LED is about 50% of HPS. So if you have 3k of LED you actually have about 6k of HPS comparison. Those 150's are good for about 2.5'x2.5' or maybe 3'x3'. I like the layout.

Well, I want to see it. So I could say I seen a 20kw grow on IcMag, you know.. :))).

p.s. 1 pulled 240 gr of bud with autos in a sq meter and in under 3 months with a very similar 150w (actual power draw 138 w) unit from mars hydro led. So you could do wonders in there with your "20 kw".

20K, Awesome Dave. Your going to need some sunglasses in there :)

While you can, think about a lino. The casters are a bit small so it may not work, but it's easy on the knees, makes an air tight barrier, but mainly it's good for spills.

Lol the led green tint glasses came in today.
I was also thinking of a liner in the beginning for spills but I thought the rolling beds would rip it so I scratched the idea and just lined the bins. I did however have to upgrade to a much better metal caster as the plastic/rubber casters broke under the load of my soil.

my ro water system came in today as well and I mounted it and only had a small amount of time to mess with it so I don’t know if it’s working right or if I’ve done something wrong because the drain line is constantly running.
my plan is to have two res in my dead room which i will use one to be plain water and the other in case i need to add anything, and setup some drip tapes throughout the length of my beds. I have found some nifty water house quick connectors like what is used on air lines for shop tools etc. I was thinking I could set up a pump and one main line through the wall and each bed have it’s own independent line that could be connected to the mainline when I need to water the bed and be disconnected when I need to roll the beds. Pretty much making a semi automated watering system that doesn’t have a bunch of hoses running everywhere and being a pain in the ass to work around with the rolling benches.

I am also looking at using the wider bed as a veg bed and hanging a blackout curtain to one side of the space. If I do that I’ll add another 5 lights.

Wuuurt! 5000 more watts? lol
I guess you could varnish the floor or something. That would stop stuff getting quite so ingrained.

Soak ideas interesting. You could always fall back on drippes if it's not what you imagined.

The RO machine does waste water constantly. Maybe 10x more than it cleans. Maybe worse... There is often a tap to control the waste. As you block it, the filter see's more pressure, so more contaminants get through to the clean side. That's how it seems to work. Though it sounds like you need a science class to really understand it.

If your RO system is operating at a 10:1 ratio, the filters are long overdue for change. 2:1 is typical, 1:1 is achievable by increasing the incoming pressure. 90psi booster pumps work wonders. After the flow restrictor on the waste line I add a valve which allows me to fine tune the ratio. I'll get about 15ppm outflow at around 2:1, if I close the valve further to a 1:1 flow I get about 25ppm. Not much difference for a 50% reduction in waste water. This is coming from well water that is 250+ ppm. Producing 50 to 100gal per day, depending on need.

It’s a brand new system and I’m not sure of my psi on my mainline. I read the book and opened the extra drain valve and allowed it to run for a few hours. I then cut it back off and it seems that it’s about 50.50 to good and waste. I was unaware that The drain water stopped when the good line was shut off. But that’s what my dumbass gets for not reading the directions before using it. It is taking my Tao water from 350ish ppm to 40 ish so it’s def stripping the water. My system only does 3 gph so it takes a while to fill my res. I ordered a float valve for the res so I can let it run continuous till it fills up. Right now I have a 35 gallon tote but looking at replacing with a 35 gallon olive barrel and maybe lining a couple up to transfer into to mix compost teas and what not instead of doing the one res. Still in the deciding phase.
