A few things that I've learned about growing in coco with a drip systm DTW

A few things that I've learned about growing in coco with a drip systm DTW

I am doing 1 gallon coco hempys, feeding every day right before lights out, 980 ppm, 5.8 pH with 10 - 20% runoff. Checked the ec and pH of my runoff this morning... 1,300 ppm and 6.1 pH. Is that high, low, just about right?

Reading thru this thread, now I'm going to feed once at lights on and once about two hours before lights off. I'm hand feeding now but I'm really, really, really interested in setting up a drip system. I'm in a 4x4... If anyone has suggestions or links, I'd be stoked.

Oh, using canna coco, a/b, Rhizo, Cannazyme, boost and CaliMagic

hi
thought i would add some input as i have learnt alot from this site and should contribute a bit back.
so i had what i suspected to be over fed/watered seedlings, probable cal/mag deficency and i think i read something about over rinsing coco?
photos should explain a bit better...

here are the fucked up seedlings about 4 weeks old, run off was coming out at 1.6 or something crazy

IMG_0468.jpg

so i lowered ppm way back and added calmag at 100ppm, and cut feeds back to help the roots a bit.
this is a week or so later. at about 1.0ec

fast forward till now at about 3.5 weeks on 12/12 and all looks cool
they were fliped at about 7 weeks from seed at 1.2ec on full house and garden range, in 6.5ltr coco/perlite mix.

What does everyone recommend for pot transfer of newly rooted clones? I'm getting new clones on the weekend and was wondering if I should just go straight into my final 2 gallon smart pot filled with Canna Coco or if plants should spend a week in some 4" pots? I'm thinking just going straight into the 2 gallon smart pots and eliminate that extra stress from transferring the girls twice...? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks! :thank you:

I recently switched to coco, this thread has been a great resource. I think it should be stickied! I switched from DWC, and my girls never looked so lush! I'm still experimenting though. What kind of veg times are you guys looking at? And how many plants would you recommend to fill 4.5'x4.5' under 1000w HPS with around 4-5 weeks veg? Preferably the lowest number possible!

I was finally convinced to do a run with coco, and I gotta say that so far it's going well beyond my expectations! Even in my current small and not-yet-dialed setup the growth is explosive and the plants look amazing so far.

Really gotta thank those who contributed to this and other extremely helpful and inspiring coco threads, I've really learned a lot here and have thoroughly enjoyed the reading :D

:thank you:

So my boy uses 3 gallon airports and blumats, but he wants to convert to multiple feedings top fed dtw. The only reason why he's doing this is because if he gets a free flowing tube or a pot that gets dried out(blumat line getting clogged) he can't get back there to fix the issue. It's a tight space. What size pump for 24 sites and how many basket stakes would it take to cover the 3 gallon airpot? DHF, do you have a picture of the valve you speak of that controls the slow and even water distribution? Thanks guys

Great read everyone! thanks for all the info.

All you coco drain to waste experts.....im looking for some suggestions. I will be running 2 ladies in around 2 gal smartpots using a 6 gal res so i was curious what kind of drip setup should i run? I was looking at the Halo rings due to complete coverage, thought of 2 1/4" open ends, or even basket stakes. I will be running H&G full coco line minus the algen due to the clogging of lines.

What kind of drip setup has worked best for you and what would you suggest for a small setup like myself?

thanks in advace cocoheads

Great thread. I am currently running #2 pots in a recirculating system as well as a DTW system, side by side.
DTW runs 4 minutes/day until run off, the other 5 and 5. Both are currently running the full FloraNova Expert recycling schedule, but I will be scaling back the DTW to half strength (DTW schedule) next change. I mixed 30/70 Hydroton/Coco, with a layer of Hydroton on the top, primarily to deter fungus gnats and slow evaporation. All pots have one small open drip line on a stake.
This is my 3rd Coco grow with each better than the last.
Great info HGO, I look forward to watching this thread progress further!

1 plant with super cropping and maybe 5 to 6 week or 4 plants with 3 weeks veg.

the site sucks, and i'm not sure why the video is broken but myself and my friends own quite a few of these total and I can't think of anything else I would want changed about the design ( fat 4mm or so holes).. I bought them in person in CO, but worth hitting that guy up and getting some.. Hydro halos are complete trash compared to these.. the hydro halos broke at the seam/clogged in less than a month with normal use.. been using these without cleaning or clogging for over a year now
