I promised id be back, this time I'm rolling up my sleeves and breaking out the new HPS. The old MH 400 wasnt doing it for me so out with the 7 year old MH and in with the HPS.

The metal Halide is making a short lived guest appearance as the veg light while i acquire a male end for the lumatek ballast.

MY NEW TOY

And a rooted haze clone starting the perpetual grow. my plan is to get the haze rolling, switch the light and then show you guys what the veg room can do and start pulling monthly harvest from this bad boy again. for this clone the goal dry weight is 60 grams. we will see if the light was my problem soon.

Keep it Green !

welcome to the show boys! we will be getting along shortly, should take 3-5 days for the clone to set roots and another week after that before i drain the res and add some full strength nutrient mix to the res. for that time i will be nursing my double gum clone and the mothers for more clones.

DOWNER ALERT - the Borg is back. i suspect a few of them hopped a ride on my new clone, i got some good stuff for those fuckers! gonna let them hear my war cry in a second! the stuff i use in veg kills on contact. and I'm a relentless bastard with that shit.

Glad to see you up and running. The Lumatek and haze looks killer. Can you run a CMH bulb with that thing?

Give the borg hell Hazy.

So today was spent installing the new ballast. the lumatek is up and running. picked up a 15 buck pig tail for a sun systems reflector and off i went. i took some before and after shots. i think its apparent that the old ballast wasn't kicking the lumens out any more. For what its worth the MH bulb is all i have hanging around i have to go and grab a HPS bulb soon...

Edit: The temps are holding steady at 80 degrees, the top of the plant shows 74.3* with the infrared gun so i dont think that over heating is an issue... more like the probe for my thermometer is black plastic and in direct light right now.

The purple bud producer's new home.

Old mag ballast hooked up, notice how blue it is...

picture.php

The lumatek Doing its Thang. the light is much more white. and much more intense. the temps have risen in my cab by 4 degrees...

Onto the battle raging in the mom room.... I've treated those little bastards with my secret weapon, BMK which i believe means BETTER MITE KILLER. you can literally watch this stuff kill them on contact, no sissy smothering them in oil, f-that, i want the little bastards dead and i wanna watch them die in front of me. this stuff does just that. Its a proprietary blend made by a local outfit. he hasnt produced any in over a year but this stuff is the cats ass. it says its all natural on the label, but being this effective i doubt it. i don't use it in flower for that reason but in veg..... GAME ON!! they look droopy because they were just sprayed with the miticide.

We have Roots!

We have Roots!

Today she dropped roots and as you can see is growing. i might have over shot the ppm level with this one she is clawing slightly and i'm seeing some burning on the serrations but i suspect she will be fine in a couple days with some root mass behind her.

And on to the battle of the mites.

i'm winning this war. the reason is i don't play by organic rules. neem smothers pest, my shit kills on contact. there is a rather large difference and there IS NO COLONY anymore to show the difference. sure there will be a few stragglers and that why i treat for 3 weeks + to make sure.

PS - dont mind the ugly durban at the right. she is getting phased out for the double gum. the haze mom needs a transplant, maybe tomorrow.

figured id drop a line before tonight's large update.

The haze is taking off with authority. i can tell just by the vegetative growth that the old ballast was hurting my system. the leaves are bigger, the plant is more vigorous and the inter node spacing is much much tighter.

The burning that the clone was exhibiting is gone. the new growth looks nice and green. tonight i plan to; top her and install the screen and get the training moving along and switch the res for some stronger nutrients. at this rate of growth i am looking at a week maybe two and then flip time.

On other news, the Durban poison was culled and removed from my op. It just didn't produce the way i wanted too and its stretch is just completely out of line with what I'm attempting to do. so out it goes and the Double Gum takes its place!!

That's all for now, pics to come later tonight.

Its photo update time....

Welcome to all that have pulled up a chair to check this out.

Sarge- yes the temps have risen but not into dangerous territory yet. right now it holds 77-79 consistently. that's with ambient around 70 degrees. the summer time will require me to turn the bulb down to the low setting. which is no major deal to me. save a little electricity and i get to experiment with lower wattage, go Lumatek.

So here is the lady before topping her. the burn has gone away. they always get a little screwy while setting roots.

this is after hacking the top 2-3 nodes off. vertical is no good in micro.... severed appendage to the right.

And imprisoned into the scrog screen. beautiful honestly.

Then i decided to show you the water change action. dump valve and an extra piece of hose. 5 gallon bucket and life is awesome. both buckets and the reservoir empty and i expend no extra energy completing a change out. ease of change out is key when you do it every week or two. While this is only 30 gallons or so at running capacity, it sucks having to go through elaborate means to drain a system. a single point is always best.

and to keep you all on your toes. ROOT PORN AT THE END! sorry its sideways!

Looking good HazyD.
The dial on the Lumatek is a nice feature. Do you get 50%, 75%, 100% and superlumens?
That's a great tool to compensate for changes in ambient temps.

it runs a 250w, 250w super lumens, 400 watt, 400 watt super lumens. ill have to re read the manual but i believe it will run a 400 at like 300w/250 watt super lumens. turn it down a bit. i'm sure adding the hps to the mix will heat the room more. so we will see. if all else fails i down grade to a 250watt bulb, and still win.

im cool with the lumatek it adds flexibility.

Things are moving along nicely. leave shave a nice light green. the solution is rising in pH a tenth a day every day. ppm is slowly dropping as well. id say a week or 10 days from now will be flip time.

I have a double gum clone in a rapid rooter, she is a looking sad but ill still have hope, Ive seen worse come back. the Durban was culled as stated above and the haze transplanted. the double gum mom to the left is growing nicely after the topping and i figured id take the opportunity to start another haze mom in dirt. notice the nice green leaves with no spotting. no mites, hmm surprised? I'm not at all. You can see the DG clone in the top of the shot. its wilted, that's nothing new thought she could still come back. ill see what it looks like tomorrow. the haze clone in the middle is taking off, and the haze mom at the right is a little light green but still growing at an alarming rate.

Spider Mite Colony 0 - Hazydreams 3 ----Come get some you bastards!

Hopefully all is well on your side for those that are watchin. Keep it green.

All right, its time to de-leaf again and get the screen coverage where i need it to be. this haze will be ready for the flip in a week maybe less. ill keep an eye out for here. I want to remind everyone that I'm using Ionic hard water Bloom with 5ml/g of cal mag, 5ml/gal diamond nectar and aqua shield at 10ml/gal. they are extremely healthy. this is the best i've seen the haze grow in this system. nice and green, no tip burn, Hearty stems and healthy healthy roots.

this is before i took the screen off and thinned out the fan leaves.

After a quick trim.
