2.3 x 2.3 SCROG 15G's of Living Soil Under A TS1000

Hi.

This girl is Sunset Sherbert x Runtz, and just starting week 2 flower.

I vegged 6 weeks from seed, and made a lot of mistakes along the way. This is my first grow in many years, my first time growing under LED, and my first SCROG. I started out training for a 4-way LST into a SCROG, but I was about as gentle as Ike Turner, broke a main branch off pretty early on and ended up with a 3-way LST. I also misjudged the strength of the light after a bong session one night, and I sprayed my IPM with the lights on the lowest setting. I also stacked like 9 things in one of my IPMs. All organic, but it was still too much crap.

None of this worked out well for me, and she looks pretty beat up 😆 Classic case of loving the plant to death.

Here's a few from this week, and then I'm going to fill in some old pics in my next few posts.

Thanks for reading

Here are a few a real early shots. I did manage to dry out some fan leaves with that screw in. I wasn't used to dialing in distances with LEDs at all. Not even a little bit.

Here's a few shots of how I hung my screen and 6 inch fan. I just made it out of crap I had laying around the house. I did purchase the screen itself though.

Here's a few early training shots, including the main branch that I murdered. I do feel like losing that branch affected my SCROG. Even though I am a noob at scrogging.

At this point I have defoliated 5 times. Lots and lots and lots of fans have been removed both to open up air flow, and unblock bud sites. Here you can see some mutated foliage which I suspect is from that IPM I sprayed. Live and learn.

So that pretty much brings us up to date. Any questions, comments, advice or whatever -- It's all welcome here.

Thanks for reading.

Here's a clip of my veg tea brewing a couple of weeks back. I'll hit her with a bloom tea at the start of of week 5.

Looking good, ev3r. Sucks about that main branch and the spray but she seems okay. I bet you pull some pretty good bud outta that. Keep it up.

Thanks, bsgospel. I am hoping she flowers out OK for sure. She's looking healthier this week than last.

Here's a more zoomed out shot -- She's a big girl.

Yeah man, that thing is filling right in. Gonna be a beast. I know it.

I'm adjusting to some new LED's. I hit the same issue with walloping some leaves a little hard with a powerful light. Did you do anything different when in recovery mode? Or rather did you encourage recovery in any special way? My strategy at this point has been to just raise em up as high as possible and keep feeds high. We'll see if I can beat it....

Hi, tobedetermined thanks for stopping by. Hopefully things go smoothly from here 👍

Hey bsgospel,

I did not do anything special except raise the lights and top dress my soil with nutrient-infused composts and gro-kashi. Additionally, I added fish hydrolysate and dried seaweed extract to my one feed watering this week.

In the first watering of the new week, I feed anything I plan to feed, and the rest of the week is just water + yucca wetting agent at about 5% of the pots volume. I expect those nutes are kicking in, and you can see that the younger foliage looks nice and healthy again.

Everything moves slower in organic soil.

This the one thing that I bought that was probably a little extravagant for a guy growing 1 plant, but I really hate watering and this thing makes it ridiculously easy. I can sit in a chair 3 feet away, and slowly and evenly water and that was worth the money to me 😆

If I take care of it this is probably the last one I ever buy

Hello! Plant looks very happy. Can you tell me what you use to make the soil? I am looking at trying a new organic mix and yours looks like its doing the job.

Hey, thanks. This run I am running the 3.0 version bagged soil from buldasoil.com. I think (If I am not mistaken) the guy that runs buildasoil used to be or is maybe still a member here, and he learned all about the organic growing of cannabis on the organic board in the old ROLS threads like many of us did. The old living soil threads with coot and the boys were pretty popular here years ago, and I know I personally read the whole thing like many people did. It somehow devolved into a mess and a bunch of people got banned, but hey I still learned a lot.

Anyway, so now he has a company (buildasoil.com) that sells the stuff you need to grow in this style -- but he also teaches people how to do it yourself with locally sourced materials if you don't want to buy his stuff.

A good place to start with this is probably this educational post on his website that talks more about it - https://buildasoil.com/pages/the-complete-system

For this grow I just wanted to start growing right away, and I didn't want to have to mix and cook soil and all that so I took the easy way out and bought his gear.

EDIT: He's also got a great youtube channel that will teach you everything you need to know - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLzfA1TEGFy-1anN20nznqQ
