Ogenko's 1200W NFT New Year

ogenko

Member
After a few runs with very bad luck (toxins)
and with a little nft inspiration from OverGrowingKiwi
Ogenko is back
1200W of hps
2 Suregrow nft tracks with a 20 gallon res
Lucas formula (Blunt_69 sold me on that), but ill switch to KISS (thats Maxibloom) method when my nutes run out
some mendo afgooey? and some sour diesel clones from a friend
day 13 in the tracks (would have went faster with better established clones, but it seems to be going ok)

One small eco pump (66 i think) circulates the nutrient solution
picture.php

No bubbes or air pumps
res aeration is just a small powerhead churning the water around
this method keeps fish tanks highly aerated so it should work fine for a res
picture.php

free and open source software GIMP works great for making animated gifs

the roots are starting to run down the channels (root porn later),
and the growth is begining to explode
afgoooeys took off faster, but i think the sour d's will kick in nicely too

Cool another NFT'er.

Good to see you were inspired by OGK's system it has inspired me to ... i have wide trays but i was thinking of ditching it and going with the narrow channel method like yours and OGK's , im having a nightmare with my PH swinging up over a 24hr period so the plants look like hell ... i'll keep an eye on your thread Ogenko as im always interested in others NFT set ups . Good luck ;)

day 15

day 15

thanks for visiting
rocket high...by wide trays do you mean the nutriculture grow tanks???
one thing i like about those is the waffley pattern on the bottom as opposed to a flat bottom.
it seems to me that it would help by giving your roots two seperate levels to kick it on
i used to use rain gutters from the hardware store which worked great;
the had ribbs running down the bottom of the channels which i liked
but those flat bottom channels seem to be working killer for OGK

i havent messed with my ph much
it's been sitting a little low i think
picture.php

also, iv'e seen some sour diesel threads here that suggest that the sd's can handle more nutes than some other plants
with Lucas ratio im at 1.66 ec/828 ppm
my sd's look like they might like a little ph or ppm adjustment, whereas my afgoo's look happy as pigs in *^%
here are one of each of them sharing a spot

heres a shot of the suregro nft tracks

saving pollen question

saving pollen question

on a side note, i got this White Widow (gh) male and i would like to save some pollen from it.
anybody got a good pollen saving method?

Whats up ogenko!!
In the past I would trim as many pollen
sacks as possible into a sandwich bag.
Then transfer all the pollen into an
empty film containner!! I kept the film
containner in my fridge inside the
drawer for the cheese LOL! It was
a great way to keep it at a cool temp
without letting it get too cold!
Cheers bro!

hi Ogenko.. yes its the nutriculture 6 ft Multi-duct with 125 litre res. but im thinking of saving space with the way you and OJK are doing it with the suregrow , is it the modified lucas method your using ,?

make sure your pollen is dead dry and that its in an airtight container with something to keep humidity down.

21 Days of Veg

thanks for chiming in fellas
got a little WW pollen saved away for when the right filly comes along

RocketHigh
: so far im using modified lucas yes
im just using the ratio though
i think i goofed a little by trying to start them into the nutes slowly
lucas says go full throttle right from the get go
i started with tap water and am topping off with ro water
trying to keep it aroung 1100-1200 @.5 ppm
the first week i gave them some ThriveAlive
and i have been giving them a some bennys/enzymes once a week
when i run out of my flora nutes im gonna try out the KISS method with MaxiBloom only
its the Lucas formula in cheap dry nuts

today is the end of week three
the afgoos are verrrrrry thick
gonna do a little defoliation and under trimming on them
the sour d's are finally catching on but are a little behind
next time i will make sure i have well established clones before i fire up the system

picture.php

to fimm or not to fimm?
that is the question
i'm gonna flip to 12/12 in eight days
is that enough time to if i fimm them now??

also any thoughts on gas/air exchange in the nft tracks
the res is well aerated with fresh air and one side of the tracks is open
sealed up tracks get more humid inside.....good??
but some nft references suggest fresh air flow through the tracks for gas exchange

Day 29; 28 veg and tonight will be first sleep

Day 29; 28 veg and tonight will be first sleep

i've never done 4 weeks of veg before
they would be a little bigger if not for some shock early on due to clones not being completely ready for the nft system
5 afgoo's are nice and dark; super thick ladies
2 sour d's seem a little malnourished but look like they will be fine
(are they supposed to be heavy eaters???)
picture.php

6 plants in 3 or 4 inch netpots with hydrotron
and one afgoo just dropped into the track with the 1" rockwool cube it was cloned in
its doing as the same as the rest but with almost no medium...true NFT
and it was actually dropped into the system almost a week later than the rest
no topping or fimming, but there will be some trimming and defoliation tonight and through early flower stage
it's same res. i started with
i just keep topping up with with RO water and bringing the nutes up every few days to about 2.6 ec
they eat a lot. the nute levels drop daily and they drink at least 2 gallons a day
there is heavy transpiration through the leaves on the afgoo
if one leave is sitting on another, water will form between the two

House Mix Anyone??

Thinned Out

Thinned Out

thanks fellas
yup, major trim job
heres the skeleton plants after the trim
picture.php

I can see through the afgoos now
they were a major bitch to trim though
I think they are a quick flowering strain (not sure)
if the turn out to be keepers i will do a quick veg
and try to get the whole grow down to 2 months

Very nice nft . I'm looking forward to seeing the progress . I'm switching mine to nft or top feed but I might do 4 pvc pipes at two different levels and bare bulb in the middle . Keep up the good work.

Day 36; Day 8 of 12/12

Day 36; Day 8 of 12/12

hopefully this grow stays nice and boring
no res changes so far
liking the Lucas "ratio"
nute levels drops fast as do the res levels
I refill every day with 2 - 4 gallons of RO
and jack nute levels back up to 2.6 ec 2-3 times a week
once a week I add half a capfull of Organic Digester
pH is on autopilot
havent had to adjust for over 3 weeks
tonight will be their 8th sleep and the stretch has begun

Hi Ogenko

wow things are looking good :)

Thats a high EC they can handle is that the lucas on full 8-ml/16ml feed? mines are little fussy bastards i swiched nutes to my old one and things have stabilised but the damage is done now.

Im thinking of going with House and Garden nutes for my next run ..seen good results elsewhere with them, its taylored for recirculating systems so thats got to be a plus.

lets see some root porn lol ;)
