I would go with hardware cloth over chicken wire.

Chicken wire has huge holes in it and if you are rolling buds over it, then there is the potential to lose a lot of product.

The grate on the (expanded cloth/air filter/whatever that was) picture you posted earlier in the thread looks like it would be an sufficient & cheap solution.

      Nice find

Or get the chicken wire and snip off what I don't want to make an area of "parallelness"....? hmmmmmm

I'm not looking to order anything from trimpro to my house or spend $50 on this part of things.....it's too much fun to DIY!

Crap mailman came not here again :(

Now you're making noise on the chalkboard teach

While we are dreaming here -- waiting to get our hands on it --

How about being able to quickly and easily change screens?
Like first go w/ something like what you see on a BBQ grill to get the bigger "sticking out" stuff. Then slap on a top that has narrower access. Maybe even a third for that final hand trimmed look. The last pic above looks like a good candidate for that. I believe it is called expanded metal, as opposed to chicken wire. Any place that sells steel has a wide variety of size.

That may be possible, or make a single screen with different sizes on it

or maybe can be accomplished with changing the depth of the grill/how close it is to blade...

I'm looking forward to playing, but like you said, still dreaming for now

The hvac grate looks more like the Trim Pro grate.
But, it's got to be large enough to cover the 9" face.
And, then there's the slot spacing...

I'm leaning hard toward the $50 Trim Pro grate.

Perhaps super glue a couple of plastic blocks on the sides to mount the grates on.

then duct tape the grates on and off for easy changin??

                    Neat idea.

                          Xactly!

                          A quick overview =

The shell of the GG is all plastic.
The face plate screws go into plastic.

The face plate is referred to as the "stationary blade".
Then, there is the "rotary blade".

I assume that means they're designed to work together in a scissor action.
Or rather, more like bypass pruners...
There is about 1/8" gap between them...

We're gonna need an extension cord...GG has only a 12"(-ish) cord

                          ...

what about sewing a bubble bag on a shortened version of that collection tube as a kief catcher and try n kill them two birds??

great ideas in here too..I would def. try 1/4" hardware cloth before anything else though..
