After a little mishap at home a couple months back I am trying to get back on the web and share some of my recent work. WTF happened Doobie? 67 year old Doobie thought he would move his Kamado Joe Ceramic BBQ by himself off the back porch. Falling on the last step the Kamado landed on top of me and my head sending me to the emergency room. No shit....I've been to several specialists since and all they can tell me is a concussion. Go see this doctor, get this test, still nothing. I have been suffering shoulder pain since but the worst part? My memory was erased of just about everything other than the pain.

It's been several months since and I am just now bringing in sparks of memory, what happened, a month ago, a year ago, last week, it's all just a blurr. Good thing I have the wifey of forty some years. She is now counted on several times a day to fill me in on who, what, and where. All I seem to be able to say is "I did that?", "I went there?", "I talked to him?" it's truly miserable, much worse than the pain. So, I move on, back to being a disabled old photographer and what I do remember how to do, photography.

After finding myself here at ICMag and some of my memory returning I'm going to share my new images in a fresh thread, hope you don't mind my memory.
Here's some from my summer grow, enjoy, share, comment, anything might help. Cheers DD.

I don't know if this would apply to you as your symptoms are somewhat different but you have some similarity to a friend of mine and so I thought I'd share his experience as something you might look into. Okay so my friend was in a car accident that left him with a bad concussion and like you that's all the doctors could conclude but he kept having these persistent symptoms all likely related to his brain but it didn't affect his memory. Anyway after months of assorted tests that didn't reveal much of anything beyond the original diagnosis of a concussion it was suggest he might have developed a small leak where his skull and spinal column connect and that the slow leakage of spinal fluid could explain his symptoms. There was a fix for it that was fairly simple and able to be done on an outpatient basis. The fix was called a blood patch and essentially they could inject the area where the leak might be with a little bit of his blood and if there was in fact a leak there the blood should be able to plug up the leak and clot thereby stopping the leaking of any more spinal fluid. He had the procedure done and in a few days his symptoms cleared up and went away. Now as I said, in his case the symptoms were different. In his case it was mainly bad headaches (Migraines), ringing in his ears (tinnitus) and a slight problem with balance (vertigo). Anyway it might be worth looking into and see if it's something that might help with your memory loss?

Well that's good to hear because clearly you didn't forget how to take amazing pictures as you've proven with the pictures you've already posted in this thread. Chances are probably better then not that you don't have any leak going on and therefore don't need a blood patch. Unfortunately as we get older accidents and injuries are slower and more difficult to bounce back from. I really mentioned it more for if you find these odd symptoms of memory loss persisting well beyond any reasonable recovery from your accident it might be something worth looking into. Anyway good to see you being active and doing the things you enjoy doing, keep up the good work.

Unc I saw that post of yours! I'm still having memory issues. It's killing my wifey. I have a terrible time with short term. Like when I get up from writing you I won't remember doing it. The part that's killing the wifey is, I'm remembering things from my childhood, our early marriage, tons of stuff she doesn't! She just doesn't understand how I can be so good at that, but am at a loss for the first half of the day. It's truly a disability not being able to remember. One thing I have is my posts on the web. I can go to them and find out what I did this week!
And my grow, I always have kept a pretty good log, it is coming in so helpful now! Starting a new grow, shooting pics like mad, I can't wait to share all that! Stay upright on that bike!

Doobie, got you via pm, sorry to hear of the latest issues and hope you'll continue to improve. Cannabis, one of the few medicines that can pass through the blood-brain barrier, probably doesn't help with the short term memory but can be anti-inflammatory and propping up that immune system so you can continue to heal.

Checking in, I'll be lurking. All the best my friend, always love your pics and glad to see the old MPE65 still working hard! Thank you for sharing your art with us
