i was trying to break away from autos but ive been having some problems with seedlings turning yellow and its getting expensive (not happy) so ive resulted back to autos to try and establish the problem

ive purchased some formulex and vitalink plant start in the hope that either of these products fix my issue

in 1 bucket im gonna run formulex and rhizotonic and in the other bucket im gonna run plantstart and rhizotonic

by now you guys should know my setup so ill spare the details

sour 60 is regular so it could go either way
mataro blue is feminized but im yet to see 1 of the breeders strains auto flower

anyways the main objective is to overcome the yellow seedling stage and hopefully put it to bed once and for all :)

ill add some pics later

the mataro blue is very much above ground and her leaves look quite big for a new born her new home has been standing for 24 hours and is ready for her to be transplanted into later on tonight, no waiting around is required get them in the dwc as quickly as poss :)

mataro, i was meant to get it ages ago with an order i placed but they didnt send it so i requested they send it with my last order, im also hoping it autoflowers

i can only go off my last experience with this breeders autoflowering seeds where i vegged an automatic la blanca for 10 weeks thinking she was gonna go into flower and never did lmfao however she was a nice plant but was way to big to flower, we will have to see what the mataro brings

heres a quick pic of s60's tap root flying out the net basket by the way its only 6 days old (ahhh)

and a cheeky photo of my mataro blue and she is only 24 hours old bless her

looking good mate,

might have to set up root-porn annonymous after this grow is finished :)

haha i love a good looking root system as much as i love the buds :)

i got my days mixed up and the sour 60 is only 7 days old not 9 so ill have to ammend my posts from now on

the formulex is working wonders in the sour 60 bucket but im still interested to see what sort of root system develops in the vitalink plantstart bucket in the coming days

both bottles pretty much contain the same nutrient ratio

formulex is 2.4 - 0.9 - 3.4

plantstart is 2.0 - 1.15 - 2.3

im hoping that they both prove to be equally as good although formulex is cheaper :)

day 5

sour 60 is 8 days old today and has had a fresh res change ive kept the feed @ .8ec and ph 5.8

mataro blue is 5 days old and her root system is starting to form just as nicely as the sour 60's did at this stage, her bucket is still on ph 5.8 and ec .8 and she looks sooo small, iirc its the small 1s that finsh the biggest

my arse is twitching about the sour 60 as it will be sexing shortly and its by far the best looking 1 ive grown upto now, will have to see what mother nature brings me :) (the joys of growing regs)

cant really seperate the formulex and plant start both are proving to be valuable purchases and will be used in my growing schedule from now on, explosive roots

pics sour 60 up 1st

Yo maybe you guys can help me figure something out..

I set up a friend with a DWC system I made for them, because I have wanted to try but can't do it at my place. It going great. Never seen plants grow so fast. They have long railroad track roots that have grown into a significant mass. I have been giving her age old organics ferts, grow and kelp. After some time the roots have become darker in color, and stained looking. Do you think that the kelp could be dying the roots darker, or is this an algae problem? What do you do to try and get rid of algae? hyrogen peroxide perhaps?

thanks

some nutes do turn your roots a funny colour but this is nothing to worry about however root rot or pythium is not as easy to spot, normally your roots have a slimey covering the res will have a weird smell and the ph will drop but this isnt always a sign of root rot

as long as you keep your temps in check and provide enough oxygen to the roots and keep light out then pythium isnt a problem, a quick tip would be that if you do have high res temps then use a bigger air pump for example

30ltr per minute airpump in a 15 ltr bucket is exchanging twice the amount of oxygen in the water every minute so even if you do have high temps your still supplying copious amounts of 02 to the res

ive never used h2o2 in my buckets as it can have diverse reactions with the nutrients basically it will kill all the good bacteria the only time i use h202 is when i finish a grow and clean out all my buckets

h202 is a bleach so use with caution

day 7

very eventfull 1st week ,both plants have had a fresh res change, im a massive fan of changing the res out every 7 days and its done religiously

both buckets are now upped to 1.0 ec of baby food the recommened starting dosage for vitalink start is 1.2 ec upwards but im being very cautious, slow and steady wins the race

sour 60 - formulex + rhizo 1.0ec ph 5.8

mataro blue vitalink plant start 1.0 ec ph 5.8

i will monitor both plants closely over the next few days to see if there is any adverse effects from the increase in ec, the next res change they get they will be intorduced to full nutrients

both plants are looking healthy and are growing quite quickly, im expecting the mataro blue to take off very soon :)

really cant seperate the baby food formulex and plantstart both get the thumbs up from me :good:
