A5 Haze x New Killer Malawi Fem

*Edit* I realize already that it's New Malawi Killer... If possible could the mods/Dubi edit the title?

Alright guys, it's freaking awesome to be back growing some more Ace gear after a little downtime. Life gets busy and it sucks having responsibilities sometimes; I've missed you guys.

I'm having an internal debate here about how I want to do this grow. I've considered doing a SCROG but my gut tells me that vegging long enough to fill the screen will result in massive uncontrollable monsters -- my last sativa grow (Purple Haze x Honduras) produced 6' plants in 1.7g of coco with a short veg time. Literally had to top several weeks into flower to prevent the plants from touching the top of the tent. I'm expecting a significant amount of stretch from the A5 in this cross; I know a few fellas around here have already grown this out so I'll need to go do some digging and research. Right now I'm leaning towards a quick topping then throwing them right into flower.

I've learned a few things in the last big sativa grow:

    1. I'll be using larger containers. I got large plants from small pots watered/fed daily but I believe these plants will benefit from the larger pots since they continue growing so rapidly quite a few weeks into flower. Also the tiny pots made for a very top heavy situation where even looking at the plants caused them to lean.

    2. I'll be establishing bamboo supports from the beginning and providing more training. These long lanky sativas really start bending when they pack on the buds.

    3. Considering the larger container size I'm planning on using I plan to do little to no veg on these gals.

Strain: A5 Haze x New Malawi Killer
    Germination: N/A (4 Germinating)
Grow Medium: 100% coco in hempy
    Nutrients: None Yet

Water: N/A (Germinating in paper towel w/ tap water)
    PH: N/A
Lighting: T5 8 Bulb (Veg) 600w-1000w HPS (Flower)
    Temperature: N/A

It's good to be back with you folks!

No surprises here! 100% germination on the Ace gear. Prepping the coco now; will have it in some hempy buckets tonight.

          Cheers guys!

Dubi recommends waiting to transplant into last largest pot until after stretch is finished. This controls height and then gives more room and fuel for the roots to expand into as buds are set and swelling.

Good luck bro looking forward to watching you kick some ass!

              Hi Kaskadian

So nice to see you back around here, friend!
A pleasure to see you have decided to start the new Killer A5 Haze hybrid (A5 Haze x Killer Malawi) for this grow.

You won't be disappointed with the vigor, yield, resin production and potency of this new hybrid. It certainly has very good vigor although Killer A5 Haze is easier to keep under control than Purple Haze x Honduras F1 you previously grew. Unfortunately, I'm probably doing late to recommend you how to focus the growth of this round (sorry for that!), but to do a SCROG with the Killer A5 Haze is certainly a great idea ... i would recommend you to check deepwaterdude's grow with this genetics, he managed to get an outstanding yield with a single plant in a SCROG.

Looking forward for another epic grow diary of yours!

Hi Dubi! You're absolutely right about many things my friend... this is much easier to control; I see LOTS of A5 traits in this strain already. Amazing branching/structure! I think this would be a wonderful strain for SCROG. Shows so much potential already! No need to say sorry brother, I didn't even top them this grow and I'm excited to see the strains potential and structure without training/interference.

As always Dubi, it's a real honor growing your strains! You're doing god's work amigo!

Guys I'm really sorry for not updating this thread in a while. Works been crazy, and family + grad school on top of all that is sucking up literally ALL my free time. Semester just ended though and I'm ready to kick back, smoke a bowl, and hangout with you all. Plus lets be honest... veg isn't as exciting to watch as flower.

Strain: A5 Haze x New Malawi Killer Fem
                Breeder: Ace Seeds
                Grow Medium: 100% Coco Hempy
                Container: 3.5 Gallon Hempy
                Nutrients: Fed every other day
                Water: PH'd Tap Water
                PH: 6.1
                PH Runoff: 6.0
PPM: 400 (nutrients + tap water)
                Lighting: 600w Vero29 COB Led
                Light Schedule: 12/12
                Temperature: 23.8C/75F Day | 20C/68F Night
                Status: 45 days from seed | 26 days 12/12

You folks can see two slightly different phenos here -- both very consistent but two are slightly stretchier.

I REALLY love this structure. A5 is really shining through with this branching. As Dubi said -- this is ready to go for SCROG!

Beautiful sativa leaves! Really happy to see sativa shining through on this hybrid.

                    The pleasure is mine brother

Yesterday i was revisiting your amazing Purple Haze x Honduras thread and what a blast it was!

Sure! It's definitely interesting to grow first a new strain without topping to learn about its natural growth profile. So nice to see them already in flowering, and seems there are different expressions, it's going to be interesting to explore all of them.

And if the indoor temps allow it, and increase of light intensity is always recommended with this kind of more sativa genetics.

I’m a sucker for sativas. The Purple Haze x Honduras was a very exciting and fun grow! I might have to run one of your 16-20+ week strains soon.

I’m actually running these gals under a 600w cob LED (vero29). Supposedly this is about equivalent to a 1000w HPS. I may increase more lighting or find a way to get these plants even closer. I have another tent with a 1000w HPS ready to go if needed.

Also Dubi I bought a proper camera so I’m hoping I can get some high quality photos for you. The last grow’s photos were taken with my phone (12 megapixels), this time I’m using a 24+ megapixel camera where I can really capture detail. Setting up a proper photo area too so I can snag better shots by harvest time.

Thanks for stopping by brother, always a pleasure!

Don't mind me gents... picked up a new camera and I'm trying to get it dialed in before flowering really takes off. It's my first camera that wasn't total garbage and my god there are lots of settings. I feel dumb... expect quite a few tester pictures.

Your camera is working great, those are some great shots. I'm still trying to figure mine out too; I had to get the book for dummies. Those plants look great for what, 6 weeks from seed, almost 7? You have some skills my friend. Post all the pics you want, I won't mind.

And the award to the conqueror, if he also heeds the works of the Logos; that is, he observes the admonitions of the spiritual mind. He is absolute control and dominion over his lower forces and faculties in which he rules as with a rod of iron. And he receives the morning star, which symbolizes the divine love, that heralds the dawn of the coming day of full spiritual illumination.

Patience is a virtue and the hallmark of an experienced grower.

Hey man, thanks! Yeah they're about 7 weeks from seed. I flipped em' just under a month ago so stretch looks to be mostly over and now we can start stacking some serious flower. I got a lot of love for Ace and Dubi; never been disappointed. I'll always have Ace gear in my garden.

Sit down with your camera and do some YouTubing and just follow along going through the settings. That's what I've been doing; I still don't have a freaking clue what I'm doing but it's getting a little better each time. Hoping to have it dialed in when these ladies start to shine!

                            Cheers bro!

Basically, it’s all about finding the good aperture/speed balance to get the correct exposure. For sensibility, I guess 100-200 ISO will be ok. I read somewhere in here about playing with white balance and post processing to counter HPS effect. I’ll try to find that post when I am on my computer.
