Hello

A friend from the Canary Islands has sent to me a mail about there is a poll where we can vote for legalize cannabis in the Eurepean Union.

The proposition is to make economics alternatives and someone has made this one.

Here is the link, you must to join the web, but the only thing you need is to write a name or nick, an email and write your city or town name.

For Lithuania http://www.pasitarimas-su-europos-pilieciais.eu/propositions

For Latvia http://www.eiropas-pilsonu-debates.eu/propositions

For Estonia http://www.euroopa-kodanike-foorum.eu/propositions

As I see you must to do that proposal from your country, in Spain we have made it.

It is the most voted proposition in Spain.

Please excuse my poor English.

The REAL EU Citizens' initiative for legalizing cannabis

The REAL EU Citizens' initiative for legalizing cannabis

The links above don't seem to work but here is a link to the actual EU Citizens' initiative for legalizing cannabis

https://ec.europa.eu/citizens-initiative/REQ-ECI-2013-000023/public/?lang=en

...and here is a map showing the votes already collected

https://ec.europa.eu/citizens-initiative/REQ-ECI-2013-000023/public/map.do

Estonians are doing pretty well with about 25% of country-level quota already collected. Poles are doing even better with almost 70% and Bulgarians have 50%.

Anyway we will need a million votes by November 2014 to get this into process.

I had seen these (rather small, but well-made) stickers up around town, predominantly where college kids go, in Vilnius. As someone who was a front-line activist in the US, I was both ashamed and disappointed with the campaign here.

First, the green marijuana leaf did attract my attention... but the quaint slogan "Weed Like To Talk" was in english. The whole "talk" thing, you would imagine would be an invitation to discourse. There wasn't even a website on the stickers, let alone one where stereotypes and perceptions could be challenged.

I asked a friend's kid, a "pothead", if you will, if he knew anything about it. He introduced me to one of the KIDS who was putting up the stickers... a filthy-looking boy, walking around drinking a beer, who was glad to extoll the virtues of "Jah's herb" and peace. NOTHING about harm reduction, criminal enterprises, or taxes. I wasn't going to waste my breath telling him how he'd set back any notion of legalization in Lithuania about twenty years or so, single-handedly, at that.

Hopefully, whoever bankrolled the campaign will find some public figures who are somewhat respectable when this failure is over.

This could've gone over so much better...
