I thought I should write up a journal entry for the Mazar-I-Sharif female I have in flower.
I have used her to create two different cross strains using pollen from the other strains I have in my journals.
Nepali ~ Landrace from Baglung/Nepal (male)
Ethiopian Highland F3 Landrace (male)
I recently started a new journal for:
First seedling of my crossing between Mazar x Nepali
Since I decided to use this female as breeding stock, I thought I should say something regarding it's history.
I started out with ten seeds of these freebies Mazar.
I germinated 5 seeds and, out of them I have one female.
It was a robust grower yet remained quite compact up to the fifth node.
After new growth above the fifth node was half-way developed, I topped the plant.
My doing this forced the plant to branch two cola's
I manipulated the growth so that both branches grew equal in height.
When one was lagging behind, I would tilt the pot, sometimes pull the taller one lower and allow the runt to reach for dominance.
This form allowed me to pollinate one branch with Nepali pollen and the other with Ethiopian pollen.
When I harvest, it should be easy to keep the seed stock properly labeled.
I plan on using this seed production to experiment with breeding these two crosses.
Here is the only picture that is necessary given the delay in my posting this grow log.
I did take two clones from her before she flowered so I can have a mother to use for further breeding
with the seeds that were created from her this time around.
I harvested this plant a little more than a week ago.
The buds are curing very well, nice thick chunky buds that are turning a golden brown.
I haven't smoked any yet, so a smoke report will have to wait for another day.
I did however collect the seeds from a majority of the buds.
As I said, each cola was pollinated with a different pollen.
I have germinated some of the seeds, most show the Indica side so far in leaf shape.
I do have two seedlings that have shown the sativa side though.
It may be some time before I can post up a new report in the journal entry of the cross strain.
Take care my friends
