hi everyone, and welcome to my diary. it's my first grow, so wish me luck!
one closet. 8 feet long, 8 feet tall, 2 feet wide. split pretty much even, with the bloom side a few inches longer to accommodate the longer bloom light. for veg, i have an internally ballasted Sunleaves Comet 200 watt fluorescent fixture. i started with 10 Chrystal seeds and 10 Super Ice seeds, from Buydutchseeds.com. (i just googled seeds and that's where i went. all the information they gave on growing seemed legit, so i figured what the hell. i'm told now they are probably imitation seeds from nirvana, so there's my first lesson in growing! that being said, things still look good so far.) right now in the veg room, we've got 11 plants left, around a foot tall. the pic you see here is day 28. on the bloom side, a Sunleaves Pioneer IV with T5 tubes. the space is small, so heat was the deciding issue on going all flo. you see eight plans here. since the idea was to start with twenty and end up with the six best of the best, these were the "lagging" nine plants out of the original twenty. after three days of 12/12, i was happy to find out that only ONE was a male! so out of my nine worst ones, eight are healthy females. hopefully i'll have as good luck with the big girls still in veg. for the veg. room, 73-76 deg. and around 80% humidity when the lights are on. temp drops five deg. or so at night, the humidity down to 50%. for bloom, about five degrees higher, but only around 30% humidity. soil is a 60-40% soil-perlite mix. i'm using only sensi1 veg. and sensi1 bloom nutrients, and brita-filtered water oxiginated in a five-gallon bucket with an air pump and stone. ph is normal. i don't have a digital ph-meter but it is around 6.0. fairly simple grow. well, that's it for the first entry. thanks for reading, and i hope you enjoy!

cloning
well, regardless of the technical problems i'm having, the weed grows on!
this is my first attempt at cloning. i know it would be much better to have the clones a little bigger, but i was moving five plants to the bloom room so i used it for practice. we'll see if i can get them to root. here's the veggies now. "is there anybody IN there?" lol peace

Everything looks healthy and green!
Just wondering are you covering those clones in anyway? I'm new to cloning as well but I always put a clear bag over mine to hold in moisture, not sure how necessary it is though. Peace, best of luck |

week one of bloom
here' an update for those still watching. after putting all but the best six out of twenty in the bloom room, i was happy as heck to see 12 out of 14 were healthy girls.
![]() not much else worth taking a pic of, but here is a shot of the first little buds appearing. that's it for today. i'm going to be transplanting the four best girls (fingers crossed) to 8 inch pots tomorrow, and probably clone and transfer them shortly after that. on that note, does anybody know if it is harmful to clone and transplant at the same time? setting them back a week or so is not a concern, but i don't want to do any real damage. thanks for reading!

hey,
nice plants bro. Don't worry about taking cuts and transplanting won't hurt em. worst case scenario transplanting will stunt them a little just try to do it when your soil is nice and dry(makes it easier to get'em out clean). One piece of advice if your plants are over 1ft tall you might want to go with something a little bigger than 8inch so your girls don't get root bound. how far along are you in flower? if more than 2 weeks cloning is gonna become a pain in the ass(you are gonna have to reveg em) and the stress of transplanting might lower your yield a little. peace Last edited by mtlgrower; 09-29-2007 at 10:26 PM.. |

cloning
motlgrw, thanks for the tip bro. the cloning i was referring to will be from the six girls i still have in veg. they are just under a foot tall. i know i should probably repot them all, but i'm not sure if i have room. since they've all been females i ended up with way more plants than i planned for. serves me right for not being optimistic enough.
![]() do you think they would make it okay if i left them in smaller pots? i water with a light nutrient solution every day, and they seem to be doing pretty well... if it justs reduces yield a bit i could handle that... thanks

hey,
leaving'em in smaller pots wont be a problem as long as they aren't vegged too long. i grew out romulan start to finish in 6 inch pots with no problems. i was suggesting bigger pots because i thought they were still vegging, 8in pots =about 2 to 3 gal so you will be alright. as far as your feeding the plants look awesome so don't change a thing just remember to cut off nitrogen after 1 week of flowering for indicas. |

word
right on, that's what i was hoping you meant. i went ahead and transplanted the four best looking ones to 8" and left them in veg with a good number of clones, so the veg room is in good order. the bloom room is pretty packed for space, but i suppose that's not a bad problem to have.
on the bigger four i repotted and am leaving in veg. my plan is to top/fim/pinch/supercrop them and let them grow for another few weeks. what is the most user-friendly, hard-to-screw-up method for bushing out plants? just take off the first node or two? i'd like to leave that top cola there since its the first generation plant... any suggestions help. thanks.

Your plants look happy, they like you, and your care shows. Nice work.

hey,
the easiest way to keep' em low and even out the canopy is tying down. that way you dont lose the top cola and cause minimal stress on the plant(there is a good how to thread somewhere). btw if you are within your plant limit take clones of as many of the girls as possible, the most potent are not always the healthiest looking. peace |

haps: that is a fine compliment, and i thank you for it. i've played in the dirt my whole life, farming, garden, houseplants, etc., but these girls have such a cool energy unlike any other plants... i love it.
mtlgr: i'll have to do some thinking. i love the tie-down suggestion, i'll end up doing that for sure, but right now there's no room. i might end up having to just ease this crop through and get more detailed with my grows after the space is a bit more manageable. either way, thanks again for the info.

water system / buds
just a quick update. here's what the veg room looks like now. the four bushiest out of the twenty seeds, and some new clones:
and here's a quick pic of one of the chrystal plants: and since someone asked me about my water system (somewhere else), here's a couple of pics. i just fill the brita filter from the kitchen tap, run it into a five gallon bucket under the sink. i've got a air pump beside it running a good steady pressure through a H-shaped air stone in the bottom of the bucket. i keep a couple feet of 1/4 inch vinyl tubing coiled up on the lid of the bucket (the lid rests lightly on the top, to stop evaporation but not obstruct the air flow through the tubing). when its time to water, i use the tubing to syphon the water down into a four liter water pitcher on the floor. simple as can be!

What a great start you have for your grow, also I agree with everyone about the LST, it really helped me alot on my last grow with all the sativas I had, this time I have mostly indica.
