T5 Northern Lights Project

I started a grow log on another site. For some reason, it was removed as were some of my other threads. But others werent. Weird stuff so anyway I am here now and I have to backtrack a little. I will skip all the mistakes I made and advice I have up till now and just get up to speed.

First is I have a closet 5 x 4. It has an air draw from the outside down low through a filtered vent. It has an exhaust fan at the top of the room.

I have a Tek Light 48. I am using all 8 t-5 54 watt hid tubes. I hung it in the center of the closet by yo -yo s but have added a chain as a safety as I do not trust the yo yo.

I have a pack of 14 seeds. Northern Lights. I have bio cups filled with fresh CoCo soil.

I decided to sow directly into the cups. Keeping them moist and have the light about 8 inches above. Now we start...

You will find here there are people from all over the world that can help you with your grow. Thanks for starting a thread of your grow. Now lets see them pics.

Northern Light Project Day 3

Keeping the bio cups moist and all 14 seeds have popped. I raised the light to 18". Keeping them moist. Temp is about 86 and humidity is an issue but trying to keep things moist. Lights are on 18 hours per day.

Continuing to keep the plants moist. Monitoring with soil probe. Light at 18". Temp running high 80s to 90s. Fans on the plant. Holding heat in at light so never below 78. All look good.

Day 12

Have enjoyed watching them grow each day. Have learned tons of stuff of the boards. Lots of advice. I have given them a light watering of nutrients. I am using the General Hydroponics system and a really light feeding.

The girls ( I hope ) seem to enjoy it. Temps running high during the day but manage to keep the plants misted and the room below 90.

D Rock Great to hear from you!! I am rebuilding my log so we can look back. I am having to wait 5 minutes each time. Yes this board looks more like a serious board and not a how screwed up can I get board.

My nutrients and Day 12

that was the only thing I didnt like about this board, Before you get 50 post you can only post every 5 minutes and you cant post over 10 post per day. Once you hit 50 posts you can post till your hearts out or once every 60 seconds. Glad to see you here. Oh yeah this board has Private Messaging too, The other board didnt.

Nothern Light Project Day 14

Getting ready to transplant. After getting taken by a store in L.A., I came back with supplies and after some horsetrading, ended up with the Ocean potting soil that everyone is raving about. My friend D Rock sold me on the grow bags and I choose 3 gallon. Stinky sold me on the pH meter and such. So just before the transplant. Up to this point they have had a couple of mild waterings with weak nutrient.

Northern Lights Day 17

Plants looking good. So we got out our soil and it smelled great. I like the feel. Wife and I fill the grow bags. Very cool. Easy to handle. Move our tray out of the closet and put down a floor. Arrange the bags in nice rows. We cut the bottom of the bio cups on advice and then put them right into the soil. Gave them a brief watering. Set up the temp hygrometer and fans. Drop the light and shit, it is 20 inches above. Stupid yo yos. So I need to get a chain next time out. Plants seems to like it. Got a good inspection and I see no pests or problems.

Northern Lights Project Day 21

Things are great except the light is high (which may not be a bad thing). The bags are so easy compared to plastic cans. And cheap. They did not move all around like I thought they might.

At this point I am concentrating on Humidity. I got the pH down and a guy showed me a way to calibrate the meter and leave a sponge on the probe when not in use. But in the pictures you can see the best humidity is 21%. So I got a vaporizor that my kids used long ago and it is just a simple misting device and draws air through a filter. So we filled that up and set it on the timers. If the exhaust fan is off, the humidity reaches 50%. When they are on, the humidty drops right off. But the plants look good. ANy thoughts?? Ok from this point, I will start posting new stuff. I am on day 22 as of now.

looking very healthy. love to see other growers using t5s.

check underneath your leaves for bugs. those white spots might be from mites. seems unlikely though with your low humidity. get a bucket of water and put it near your plants. it's the easiest way to raise it.

keeping coco wet is a bitch. bigger the bag the less watering and more roots=more bud. try using cal/mag plus. it's good with coco.

Yeah Ive got 2 huge bowls behind my bags that each hold about 3 gallons of water. It keeps my Humidity around 45-58% just depends on the day I guess. Your plants are looking great. I know the more air flow you have the harder its going to be to keep your humidity up. Thats why i have a hard time keeping mine above 50% I have 3 fans to make sure I have a good air circulation. Glad to see you got the grow bags, there great arent they? Well not to much longer and you will be flowering right behind me. I Dont think you have mites. To me it looks like some type of liquid dryed up on the leaves. Do you spray with a foliar spray? If so thats what the white stuff on the leaves most probably is unless you been snorting lines near your garden..... J/k. anyway I will keep my seat pulled up to see how my fellow T5 grower does with his grow. I already know yours is going to turn out better than mine, Your growing Northern Lights Right? Im growing Bagseed........wonderful Bagseed
See ya round.

Looking absolutely great dude, keep up the good work.
I think its going to be really interesting if you're using that t5 for flowering.

I'd like to get a t5 setup once i get my own place. Problem being, what spectrum do those t5 bulbs emit? 6400k? I'm sure that will do just fine, but do they make 2700k bulbs for flowering? how much would it cost to replace 4 out 8 of them so you could use half of each spectrum the entire grow?
