Hello Newbie an all....

This is my second run using CFL's for flowering!!!
My oppinion is that you CAN grow serios nugz with CFL's.
The strain i am gonna show is my PINE#5 i created in clones.
You may be growin in a cab as much of you have your lights
set in 1 stop there TO FAR AWAY the wattage i use is 25-30wCFL's!!!

SOUNDS WIMPY HAAAAAAH wel i think you wanna know my method.
As i show piX ill describe how there grown,READY lets go!!

Let me go over how i set the lights first and shit cool!!
Now the wattage i use lets you put the bulbs very close without burn.
Have not tried 40watters they may be to hot for right absorbtion of light?
PLUS were tryin to go low heat low cost and test lumens nessessary!!!!!!!!

ANyway set the lights overhead hanging down, base above to burn hotter!
It says on package in base down position you may loose 5% light lummens?
These piX will give and idea what it looks like,its hard getting pics under
my 600w table thats were i stuffed this CFL grow.There is 215 watts and
the 2 smaller tinny Banana's were a test to show how CFL lighting keeps plants from stretching in flower PERIOD.This strain Banana will stretch 4 inch
nodes in flower DWC hope ya seen my DWC thread at indoor hydro hehehe...

So ill show the Banana's that are clone and when 1 or 2 roots came out i stuck them in a small pot soil.They flowered a little for want energy they got.
You can veg plants right to were you want them,then put into 12/12 and NO stretch just bud growth!!!SO DONT TAKE THERE GROWTH AS YEILD please...
Just showing another thing you will like,TRICHOME PRODUCTION hahahahahaha hahahahaha hahahahahahah yes my friends your favorite frost!

CFL's give off a comfee light ray that makes trichomes bloom early and fast!!!
YOU CAN PRODUCE NUGZ THAT ARE JUST AS GOOD AS ANY 1000 watt bulb...
Your yields WILL be alot different but when it comes to excellent smoke you got it baby!!!!

Lets amagine there were at least 2 buds growin around every bulb!
Thats what i WILL do the next run,the 1rst time i wasnt shure what
CFL's would do but with a second try with 2 different strains i know now!!!!!
There not bad lights at all,so give them another try using my style.....

The lights are basically set up in a triangle shape over plants hangin down.
Lots a good piX here so im shure you will see what i mean there kids

Cool A1 buds aaaah!!!!!

ok the food i use is my trusty Miracle gro water soliable bud ferts!!!!
1 gallon pots with my soil mix,use a tray or dish to collect over run of the
water every time you water!Use blocks or books to get the plants to right
height under bulbs if lights are in a set possition overhead.If not move lights!
KEEPING THEM 1 inch away from main section of plants.The bulbs will only
pennitrate about 5 inches maximum.So you have 5 inches from each side of bulbs to work with so plants must be tied sideways like scrog plant style.

The way to grow best is soil i would say hydro would outgrow the space???
NOT tested yet???
At the time of flower you have to top the plants witch helps bottom buds!
try getting your plants to about 8 inches tall then tie to the side giving the
other bottom and side branches time to catch up to the top(may veg longer)
What ever you need to get the side buds close to bulbs.......GOT IT!!!!!!

Food your choice?i like what MJ does for my grows,fast easy and all needs!!!
Fed only 2 times as clones they only grew a few week in veg then flowered.
The YEILD can be better ofcorse and you WILL see in up commin grows!!!!
Lets look at the pine#5 i love so much shall we hehehehe!!

Details!

60 days from clone may go 70?
Every 5 lights you can fit 2 plants comfee!
Use fan but dont kill them with it when young,they need to say still almost!
When older put fan on them to stiffen up for budding and cooler climate....
Had 8 bulbs total,18/6 veg 3 weeks almost?
tied to side at 8 inches or so for maximum light penitration to branches/bud sites!
Made shure of good water with dish under pots to re-absorb runoff a MUST......
Last 3 weeks of flower NO food just lots a water and that's about it folks chop chop!!
Hope that HELPED SOME NEWBIES or anyone interested in other projects/grows!!!!!!!
Hell you can stuff a good grow like this anywere,and NO reflector needed just 6"fan...

Hey Lou,

Here's some pics of 3 NLxHZ plants flowered under Red Spectrum (2700k) 300w CFLs. This grow yielded 6oz's of premium smoke with super frosty buds. The trick to getting good buds with CFLs is to postion the bulbs within an inch or two above the plant canopy.

Good job guys...man oh man great report on your CFL.. Did you use any 2700k warm spectrum lighting or was it the 5100k or full..Man I was wondering howd you actually kept it to 1 inch off the canopy...during my first grow I tried to position it but it wouldnt stay so I moved the plants up..which was ok..

Cool thread. I like the CFL grow I got a lot of em. But to me it seems cheaper to spend 45 bucks on a 150w HPS then to buy all those CFLs and outlets. But the heat issue gets solved with this style. Small plants work good I bet you could LST or scrog real good with this too. You might want to try that sometime.

Hi Lou; I am looking at one of these ^ for a veg / Gerret from Magus is using these & had them as a 'new product entry' at the 420. / I got to see them in action & there was NO heat = IMHO a great closet/mother light

I am using 2 - 150 cfls as secodary lighting

One of the winners used all cfls

(Big storm - golf ball sized hale = fricken tornado warnings going off ) - I will just grab my seeds & dog

hey Lougrew! My question is this. I currently have 3 45 watt CFL's (supposed to be equivalent light output of 200 watt bulbs, 2700 lumens a piece) working with a 70 watt HPS. Occasionally I leave the cab door open and put a fan on them to strengthen stems. When I do this, I seem to notice a less intense light from the CFL's due to the fan blowing on them, even on a low setting. Is it just me or have you ever noticed this?

Hey Dankbud!!

Usually i start with the fan when they go into flower!
70watt HPS and CFL's should do ya good,possibly 2 0z's??
For just CFL grows let them be still in veg so they take it in best!
ill tell ya AGAIN the light from CFL's seems to grow trichomes great see!!!
let me get some nice soil plants sweated in frost again grown under CFL's...

I grew with just fluor. in the past with decent results

my biggest gripe/warning about CFL's is how fast they loose lumen/light output and need to be replaced way to often imo
and at around $5 or more each bulb that can add up quick when you are using around 400 real watts worth to get a decent grow....none of that equal to so many incandscent watt bullshit

doesn't take long to spend more on a cfl grow then one decent 400wt HID with a bulb that will last alot longer then CFL's


...once you go hid you will never turn back to CFL's....though I do line my side walls with them for some extra light color/spectrum

Hey guys,

I grow with CFLs primarily for heat issues and would recommend to anyone using them to invest in some mylar. Doing grows with and without it, I have noticed it helps with the developement of the buds not directly under the CFLs. I have lined the growroom walls with mylar and made reflectors by covering cardboard panels with mylar and positioning them above the CFLs. These are pics of NLxHZ, the buds grow just like haze with long, vine style buds and is one of the best strains for CFL grows. The trichs cover the entire plant.
