Anyone try Sweet Leaf during flush? I'm growing in soil and a buddy was saying its a good idea to flush with some sort of sugary carb. i've got sweet leaf and molasses not sure which would be better. sweet leaf has more goodies than molasses and i'm not sure if that would lead to harsher final product.. any help would be great.

quit listening to your budy, thats what you need to do. its called "flush" you can but you bud isnt going to smoke its going to smolder, it wont burn well and wont be what you expect. its going to taste burnt every time. ive done nutes till end of 10 weeks and its not what you'd think.

So are you talking about the flush at the end of flower or the flush in like a feed flush feed routine , Sweatleaf affects the flavor of ur bud ive seen people use it in every watering in flower and just do a 3 day flush there weed burned fine but it tasted like sw you will know if you over do it id recomend using it at 1ml a litre untill the last 2 weeks of bloom used right it will give u a tastier herb imo.

Sweetleaf is a great product and probably will keep your plants alittle healthier but the main thing it does is effect the flavor some people like the stuff some people dont only way to find out if you like it is to try it for ur self . Molasses will mess up the flavor in the same way if used to long into flowering it will leave your buds tasting like molasses .

I dont think possible to burn your plants with sweet leaf not really much in there was is it like a 0.1 .0 .0 .

The bottle says use at 2-4mls per litre i reccomended 1ml that seems like a pretty light dose to me, lots of people who grow in soil flush with carbs up untill the last two weeks before harvest then switch to plain water for the final streach.

it's the cranberry extract that gives it the characteristic Sweet Leaf flavor.
that's why folks in my neck of the woods add all kinds of crazy shit:
grape juice (white or concord), apple juice, corn syrup, kool aid, whatever......
it does work though, minimal hype for an AN product. LOL

yeah i know. every time i try one of these new ideas, i end up with dead seedlings or burnt leaves... i have never tried any product during flush except final phase which honestly i couldnt tell any difference. probably cause i'm in soil.

thanks 4 the help. hopefully i didn't use too much. i've always used molasses, never had an issue with the bud tasting weird. i've been using 1-2 tsp + 1 tsp of molasses. now that i've read this, that probably is too much :joint: oh well, i've only got 2 plants coming down. i'll lighten the load next time if it takes away from the flavor too much. i love the flavor of bud, don't want to change it just enhance it :rasta:

personally I like the plant to express it's own phenotypic aroma/flavor.
i don't use sweet leaf anymore for this reason.
some strains that are low odor benefit from sweet leaf.
the only thing I liked it on was bubblejack, and the regular bubblejack flavor by itself is amazing.
think of it as ketchup. great for french fries. not so great for filet mignon.

if i find it messing with the flavor, i'll stop using it. i'm growing mostly og kush and all the strains i'm growing have great flavor on their own. i didn't think a plant could uptake flavor like that. i thought the whole benefit was the carbs and other shit in sweetleaf.

Your might be thinking of Sweet that ones more like a carb , Sweet leaf has lots of ingridents but i dont think any of them count for carbs i could be wrong though. i think its mainly just marketed as a flavor enhancer somtimes it really does seem to be able to make the second half of the joint taste alittle better . and somtimes i dont notice a thing lol its fun to play around with fo sho .

carbs are just a complex form of sugar;
sweet leaf is just an educated sugar liquid with flavor;
i never thought flavor could transfer in this way until i experienced it myself.

OK. So I have smoked a few batches now. Some plants I cut down to 5ml\gal of Sweetleaf other I used 10ml\gal. This is every watering. In addition I use 5ml\gal of Heavyweight every watering. Heavyweight is molasses in a fancy packaging.

Everything else environmentally and strainwise was the same. The plants love Sweetleaf no doubt about it. The ones w\higher dosages had bigger buds\yields.

I noticed zero difference in flavor, absolutely nothing. definitely not like molasses. it tasted just like the bud I grew last time without the sweet leaf except this time the buds were fatter.

So my conclusion - Sweetleaf is a great source of carbs and other minerals\vitamins. Use it heavy and you will not notice a flavor difference at all. I would've been pissed if my OG tasted like molasses... It tasted like the regular goodness but my yield this time was much better. This is just my experience. I chopped a few other strains today so we'll see if they taste any different but I seriously doubt it. I highly recommend Sweetleaf, it rocks
