i've tried straight soil, no good!, I've tried jiffy peat pucks with 50% surviving only after 12 - 14 days... I've been using rapid rooters recently and have had some root in 8 days...
so rapid rooters it is for now!..
I heard 5 days for the areo-cloners??
just thinking is all!....
holla... :joint:

Ya, my first run in the bubble cloner took me ~14 days as well with good success. Will hopefully see about my second run too.

2 weeks or more here, and not a very high success rate. i just place them in soil/perlite/peat. i think my problem lies in where i take the cuts from. i seem to be having better luck now with side branches, rather than taking cuts from the top part of the plant. i DID try a bubble cloner and was 0 for 8 ... grrrrr ! still working on my cloning technique.

Usually it takes me two to three weeks as my basement is on the rather cool side. I just recently bought one of those seed starter plug in heat blankets and used that in conjunction with my regular cloning thermo-dome with peat pellets and have got roots in 1 week! This was the quickest for me ever, so for now on I am going to use the heat blanket. I think it was made by Jiffy.

what technique??

Sorry It took so long.

But here is what I do.

I use quart size chinese food containers.
Soak the rockwool.
Place the cap to the chinese food container under my light.
Wipe eveything down with alcohol.
Take the cutting
scrape the bottom of the cut
dip it in my hormone powder
place it in the rock wool
place that on the chinese food lid
spray the inside of the container and then just place it over the clone.
then once a day spray the inside of the cover and make sure the cover never dries out.
you might have to check the cube, but if it is moist enough you might only have to spritz the cube 1 or 2 time untill it roots.

As simple and cheep as your going to get, and I get 100%, I lose no clone since I started doing it this way.

Hope this helps.

Stay safe and high.

I use straight pro-mix and perlite..old school...use a rooting hormone, cut at a 45 degree angle...dip into water, then the rooting...wound the plant alittle, then into the a dixie type cup full of the soaked promix......14-21 days...very good sucess rate..for me like 90%..BUT, I'm going give the bubble cloner that Major explained a couple posts ago...that looks good to me.

14days untill plant starts to grow again. no root powder just put in soil with a cloche on top.
trying with rooting powder this year so i expect or hope they will be a little bit quicker.

I can get a cutting to start rooting much earlier than 14 days but not enough to considered fully roots, I can start seeing new growth after the first week when the rooting begins, and after another week the plants can start taking off again. Of course some strains respond quicker than others to rooting, at least for me :)

100% with bubbler cloner. Has anyone done bubbler to soil? Worried about damaging roots.

Deft
03-22-2008, 10:06 AM
I haven't done it yet bud_me but people say a humidity dome is best because they can dry out easy when making the switch.

I'm wondering if you guys put anything special in the bubbler watter like nutes or if plain low ppm water is best?

Ohh and I have gotten about a 80% success rate with hormone peat pucks and a dome. I even cloned a 1cm bud in a jiffy puck lol here it is after revegging a little.

i use a daisy cloner with rootech, 100% success rate. after removing the cutting from the mother, soak for 15 minutes in tap water. make a 45 degree angle cut with a sterile blade (everything needs to be as clean as possible). personally, i make the 45 degree cut under water. it prevents air from getting in the stem. another thing i do is gently run the razor blade over the area of the stem where the rootech will be applied. dip in rootech and pop in the cloner. i get roots in 3-14 days depending on the strain and thickness. i've noticed thicker clones

prior to the daisy cloner, i used rapid rooters, humidity dome, and rootech. this method took 14+ days to root and towards the end i had about 70% success rate. i learned cloning with this method, a WHOLE lot of trial and error (and dead clones) lol :joint: things are better now :rasta:

10-14 days is how long I wait before I start to check for roots.

I use a very cheap and easy method. I use Green Light Rooting Hormone from Lowes 5$. I then take a 2-4" cut and shave the rooting end with a razor blade, then make a quick cut at a 45 degree angle, then I immidiately dip it in the Green Light Hormone powder.

I then take a little piece of paper towel, I use the good/expensive paper towel, just a little piece I dip in water so it is wet and I rap it around the part where I shaved the skin off the clone. This helps keep the hormone powder on when I slide the cutting into the little pod.

I am using a 12 pod humidor domed cheap 3$ setup.

This works well for small cuttings, but when I have a larger cutting or I want a better success ratio. I will do everything the same except after I put the clone in the pod I will use 1 liter water bottle that I cut the bottom off and fill it w/ perlite. I then just seat the little pod in the perlite and spray some water inside w/ some superthrive mixed in and put the top of the bottle on it.

I have had a 80% or better cloning success when I use the bottles w/ perlite.
I have had about a 50-60% ratio when using my little cloner dome.

Either way I am happy with my results.

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Here's some roots of mine after seven days.

I use Green Light Rooting Powder (Lowe's US$5.00), liquid Clonex and Superthrive. Root in Rapid Rooters under a dome. (Yeah, I know that's a r/w cube in the pic, but that was a special order; I usually use Rapid Rooters.)

A couple of month's ago I quit using Superthrive in my mix. (I ran out and didn't think it was really important, so I didn't replace it right away.) Rooting time went from seven days to 14, and the roots weren't as studly. I recently did some side-by-sides and the Superthrive really makes a significant improvement. I use a couple drops per liter of solution.

Depends on strain for me. Just cloned some super girl and some showed roots in just 6 days with the others finishing in 12. I also cloned some sensi star at the same time, same dome and they took fromm 10 to 18 days. Ak47 took me 3 fing weeks, chronic 2. c4 around 2, c99xnl around 10 days, etc...

5-7 days.. 100% success rate

my style is to take small cuttings, use rooting hormone, straight into peat pucks, placed into a small hothouse I got from my local grow shop sitting on top of a 7w heat padand within 5-7 days I have rooted clones.. I mist daily and keep it very humid in there

when I see roots, I put them into a 45% peat type mix, 35% perlite, 35% vermiculiate mix and away you go!

heres a few pic of a white russian clones I just potted up into the above mix yesterday, 9 days after cloning, 2 days after roots..

Do sativa/sativa hybrids generally root more easily or faster than do indicas? My sat dom clones are 80-90% in 14 days w/root gel and soil. The indica dom clones are much lower success rate, and the ones that do root seem to take longer.

I use peat pellets, Rootech gel, w/great success. And rockwool cubes, w/equal success. The key, I believe, is the dome environment. 75-80F High humidity. Recently, I've taken to setting the pellets/cubes in perlite that is moist on the bottom. Time: 1-2 wks xcellent root growth. Nice thing w/the perlite is that you can let them root ongoing. See Jorge DVD and check out Jeff Tek in recent Skunk mag.
