View Full Version : If you want something done...do it yourself....HOW LONG INTO FLOWER CAN YOU CLIP CLON

Well, I had 10 easy sativas a while ago. Some things came up, and i had to give the plants to another care taker. The exchange went with the following. I get 15 clones and 15% of the final yield.
Anyways, this guy didn't do a good job with them either, and its gettin on my nerves. I cant go over there either an do the work myself because i am on a tight schedule with school right now with 3 midterms this weekend (Differential Equations....a true bitch of a class, a real ball buster). So, this is like the 12 or 13 day these plants have been in flower under a 1000w hps. My question is, how long can you wait till clippin clones is no longer recommended. I could give a rats ass about final yield from the mother plants, or anythign being stunted. This is what i need
1. Roots
2. Nothing Females. Will the stress fuck them up?
3. These plants apparently flower under 18 hours of light. This is why I bought them..for outdoor grow this summer...and i hope that this lighting period is not affected.
IF you have the answers to my questions...please give me the answers. If the clones are not done by sunday, i will be making time to go over there and get it done.
Thanks

If stressing the donor plants doesn't bother you then you can pretty well take clones all the way through flower. Even a bud will reveg given long enough under 24hr light. To reveg anything there must always be at least a small amount of bud and leaf material to work with.
If the donors have only been flowering for a couple of weeks then the clones shouldn't take very much longer than usual to grow correctly.
Not quite sure I understand your points 1 to 3, but if these plants show signs of flowering under 18hrs of light then you definately want to be vegging with 24hrs of light.

i've had clones rooted form plants a month into flowering it just toke them longer to pop roots. LOL Differential Equations, yah i remember those days

I just cloned six slips from a plant 3 weeks into 12/12. But, I'm growing T*HazexSkunk with a 120 day flower period. 3 weeks of 12/12 may not mean that much to them.

You can clone no matter what although it isnt recomended after 2-3 weeks into flowering i took some clones during the 4 or 5 week and they are doing great.

The longer into flower the longer it will take the clones to root, then you have to reveg them which takes the longest.
I now have a clone that is revegged after 3 months. (it was taken from a plant almost 2 months into flowering) It took like 20 days to show roots, when normally it takes like 7-9 days for roots on a vegging plant.

I took clones from plant before harvest and rooted normaly, but after 6 months is still not properly reveged. :D

I took this clone a week after my friend harvested the rest of the plant it came from. This plant had ten weeks of flower before I took a cutting. It took over two weeks to root, but roots took off once they sprouted. All seven cuttings I took rooted.

I was taking ALL my cuts between week 1-2 of flower. Using this time frame I even had a couple root nicely in 6-7 days, where it had been taking 9-12 from veg cuts.

I noticed mine also took alot longer than normal to root, im glad you all brought this up i just thought i was going something wrong.

If it's at all feasible, a better option would be to reveg one of them after harvest and then take cuts. Otherwise yeah, you can take them whenever but it will take longer to root, and it may or may not completely revert back to veg. Sounds like Ruderalis genetics though, which just isn't worth all the trouble IMO. But, ya do what ya gotta do.

"may not completely revert back to veg."
This is also very true my 3 inch clone is growing new calyxes everyday, it's under 24/7 im just hoping that it will eventually stop, because we are going to veg this out till it's pretty short and bushy i think.

I've had plenty of 'em over the years get stuck somewhere in between and never go back either way. Those are just wierd.

looks like the only fix will be to take more clones and grow more, hopefully after it's finished either me or one of my friends will be putting up some pics of this wonderful clone, it simply amazes me what schwaggy bag seed can actually grow into.
