I know this is a very basic question, but i am using Flora Nova and Pure Blend the original per capt. crip's instructions, and I was wondering if that is consider organic hydro?

Also, i deal with a a few small temp. swings in my reservoir, sometimes it gets up to 80 degrees(F). If I put sm-90 in my reservoir from veg all the way through harvest to battle pythium (sort of a pre-emptive strike on pythium, we've had too many bilateral talks already), would that kill or neutralize the organic components from the Pure Blend (original)?

Does anyone have any better recommendations to try and keep a healthy water culture? Thanks,

the p

Is Flora Nova organic? I can't remember.

The original Pure Blend is and some of their ammendments but not all are 100% certified organic

Tk,
So would sm-90 affect the uptake of nutrients if i used it all the way through? Or could you recommend a different product that would help me battle pythium before it ever starts. I heard hydrogen peroxide ruins some of the stuff in organic nutes, so i am trying to be careful here. any help always appreciated. :)

is a concentrated complete one part fertilizer with organic additives.

SM-90:
SM-90 is a root disease inhibitor which controls common anaerobic fungal and bacterial pathogens.
When SM-90 is added in small quantities directly to plant nutrient solutions, root disease infestations are inhibited and new root growth emerges.
Treated plants develop greater root area and root runs and exhibit a generally healthier root development.
Controlled lab and greenhouse tests revealed an unexpected benefit that was observed with the treated subjects.
Results indicate that SM-90 dramatically increases the transpiration rate which improves the plants water and nutrient uptake capability. The plants treated consistently used 30% more water and nutrients than the control plants.
This would result in an increased metabolism and accelerated growth rate.

It is a great solution additive to discourage pests and fungal disease and other bacterial pathogens.
If you are trying to promote bacteria growth this is probably not a desirable additive.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe the Pure Blend has live cultures in it, the product being a liquid "brewed" pre-composted product that is probably purified for bottling purposes using an Ultra-violet sterilization technique, (would be my guess.)
Fish Meal and seabird guano both are primary ingredients in the pure blend recipes, both would stink to high heaven bottled unless pre-composted and stabilized in some manner.
I would think it would be perfectly safe and logical to use your SM-90 supplement. Happy Growing :)

I'd have to say yes it would effect nutrient uptake. It would increase as your roots get bigger and stronger. Ever tried Hydroguard?

Hydroguard info:

made by Americanagritech, the manufacturer of PB.

Hydroguard made my ph go all whacky and wouldn't stablize. I quit usin it and everything went to normal and haven't used it since.

Maybe more benificial in a DWC set also with the total root saturation in water.

Adding it to the aerocloner didn't seem to make much difference but that was along time ago and I forget.hehe

Thanks tk and everyone else. i think i will go with sm-90, I am hoping the flora nova, the pH will be stable enough for anything that sm-90 could do to it. let's hope, once again thanks for the help.
