Better late than newer

As some one you might have read i had some difrent troubles getting seeds on top of the fact that im VERY late this year ( my last outdoor grow was some 15 years ago..).

After having troubles getting the seeds i ordered in the first place some helpfull DCF users offered to donate me some seeds.

A few days back i recieved some seeds from Ramone79 from DCF who sent me a batch of his Ramone79 outdoor skunk mix.
Some of them were unfortunatly smashed in the mail, but most of them survived and was put in wet toilet papir and covered with a news paper and put in a warm dark spot to germinate.

Was going to germinate for 48 hours and then plant them in soil but some stress and other things made me forget them and so they were germinating longer than planned and when i checked them today most of them were about 10 cm long and had pushed the upper wet towel upwards.

Time to plant them in soil immidiatly!

http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/8472/billede162sp2.th.jpg (http://img70.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede162sp2.jpg )

15 a little yellow but othervise healthy looking plants or now under flouresents a few days before going into outdoor soil.

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9168/billede163jc7.th.jpg (http://img514.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede163jc7.jpg )

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/525/billede164dr8.th.jpg (http://img514.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede164dr8.jpg )

Im awaiting yet another donor seed batch from a user that wants to remain anomous, and some Royal Dane seeds ordered online.
And a few seeds from unknown strain that was in some pot a friend gave me.

These are going to be my late outdoor grow for this year and im hoping for a fungiving harvest eventhough its a bit late and some things complicated it further.
No matter what ill update regullarly with pix and descriptions for all of them and also for each strain and offcourse af smoke report later this year.

The plants taking from sprouting and into soil or now looking healthy green and opened up fully starting to grow its first leaves.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/1862/billede165hv6.th.jpg (http://img526.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede165hv6.jpg )

Today was a lovely day when opening my mailbox at home.
Finally the Royal Danes had arrived and also the second seed batch from a kind
and helpful DCF user ( first one appears to have disapeared in the mail).

Now i added 5 new strains to my grow besides the Ramone79 skunkmix.

TAS/GG3 x DP

ERD/AR x DP

HK x Leb27

Royal Dane

X - Unknown seeds from some pot a friend gave me.

*TAS = Tripple Afghan Slam
GG3 = Guerilla Gold 3
DP = Danish Passion
ERD = Erdpurt
AR = Alpine Rocket(swiss classic)
HK = Hindu Kush
Leb27 = Lebanon 27, a strain from Lebanon grown in Denmark for many years.

All the strains except X ,which i know nothing about, is suppose to be early flowering so they should provide a decent outcome eventhough im a little late for a danish outdoor grow.
They have all been put directly into soil mix in a mini greenhouse

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/1313/billede168bm5.th.jpg (http://img526.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede168bm5.jpg )

Today i started germinating 60 new seeds in 5 difrent strains so soon ill hopefully be putting 75 plants in 6 difrent starins into outdoor soil if they all succeed.

Harvest time already seem so looong away...

Hey Gunnarguchi

Hygge

takker..

Today i saw the first signs of the latest 60 seeds beginning to surface, but as my current camera isnt good for closeups or macro ill wait with pix until they have grown free from the surface.

good luck dude kinda behind, no?
Yes, But that is also where the challenge and the fun is.
To get as good a harvest as possibel during those conditions.
Ill get a shorter vegetative stage but the same flowering period.
Im shure a lotta love, care and nutrients will make it happen anyway
And ofcourse.
Better late than newer :joint:

Additions to previous grow update:

TAS, Tripple Afghan Slam is by Reeferman
ErdPurt is the cross between Erdbeer and x Purpurea Ticinensis. ( as far as i know they are both some very popular Swiss strains adopted to the northern climate. Potent and very mold and fungus resistance)

My older plants ( http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=59696) which i thought had yellowing leaves and slow growth wasnt suffering from too much fertilizer or over watering but from a serious Nitrogen deficiency according to knowledge i gained on these sites
http://forum.everyonedoesit.co.uk/showthread.php?t=59335
http://www.weedfarmer.com/cannabis/plant_abuse_guide.php
Very highly recommended reading for any cannabis grower.

I had ordered both Canna Grow and Bloom but from a danish webshop with slow deliveringtime so in the meantime i was using some cheap liquid nutrient with too less N and was using it too carefully as the brand was unknown to other cannabis users and so also the effects regarding a possibel nutrient burn.

Its called Grøn Vækst - Organisk Plantegødning, bought in a shop chain here called Silvan for 25 DKR for half a liter ( thats about 4 $ )
N = 4,1%
P = 0,5%
K = 5,2%
So an NPK apr. 8:1:10 which is NOT suited for cannabis Vegetative growth as a stand alone furtilizer but could be used if suplement with added Nitrogen.
Check these very good pages on Cannabis nutrients and problems deraving from too much or too little etc

Still not having recieved the ordered Canna furtilizers and with plants in desperate need for Nitrogen i decided to make my own emergency nutrient mix using the cheap liquid nutrient and adding alot of the lacking N.

My emergency recipy:

First i took one hand showel of rabbit dirt containing lotsa N but also being one of the few animal furtilizers that is best for plants without buring roots.

Manures

source........................ .N P K comments
Rabbit manure.......... 2.4 1.4 0.6 Most concentrated of animal manures in fresh form.
Cow manure (dairy). 0.6 0.2 0.5 Often contains weed seeds, should be hot composted.
Steer manure.......... 0.7 0.3 0.4 Often contains weed seeds, should be hot composted if fresh.
Chicken manure....... 1.1 0.8 0.5 Fast acting, breaks down quickest of all manures. Use carefully, may burn. Also, stinks like hell - composting definitely recommended.

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/995/billede171ig9.th.jpg (http://img261.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede171ig9.jpg )

After having stirred it and killed any remaning larves and other bugs i added 6 liters of cold water and added 7 teaspoons of the other furtilizer to add the proper P, K, Mg and other nutrints.
7 teaspoons of marble siryp/molasses as its told to stimulate micro biologic processes and micro nutrients in the soil.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/9742/billede179yu6.th.jpg (http://img256.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede179yu6.jpg )

I decided to repot into larger containers before adding the "emergency nutrient mix"
From 1 liters to 4 liter pots always using Leca peas in the button for draining and air to the roots.
I used a coffefilter to keep the peas in and allow the excess water to drain.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5012/billede180ad1.th.jpg (http://img256.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede180ad1.jpg )

Then i added my own special soil mix to the new pots.
Flower soil, peat moss, plant bag soil, sand and leca pea's.

In front is seen the 2x30 seedlings which almost all have sprouted except the X seeds which i wasnt expecting anyway as they were all imature, small and pale looking seeds.

http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/1985/billede181wr5.th.jpg (http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede181wr5.jpg )

behind is seen the Ramone79 skunk mix 15 plants wich are a few days older.
The the left in the background you can just glimpse the older plants which are 3 Misty and 2 Super Skunk from Nirvana ( they were the reason i made the "emergency nutrient mix" - see the yellow buttom leafes and slow groth cause of what turned out to be lack of N).
The older plants are kept seperatly cause they are going to be selected for motherplants for an indoor grow i planned later this year so they are still in pots and will be moved back indoors when the sunlight is aproching flowering cyclus.

A small update.
the pix was taken yesterday, June 19.

Right after repotting the older plants were hanging a little from the root getting use to the new pots and improved soil.
But today i could already tell the difrence and effect from the nutrients.
They leaves starting to look more healthy and more agile in correcting towards the sun.
The next days i expect the yellowing leaves to start getting greener again and the plants to take off in growth

The latest batch of seedlings are still kept under flourecents as im wating for the rainy weather to pass.
some of them are a bit stretchy cause i also had the older plants under same light, thus meaning the distance from the bulb to the seedlings were to great.
The older plants has therefore been moved outside in a DIY greenhouse until the rainy weather passes.
Now the the seedlings are a little more than 1 inch below the bulbs which they seem to like a lot better.

http://img400.imageshack.us/img400/4898/billede187il2.th.jpg (http://img400.imageshack.us/my.php?image=billede187il2.jpg )

The older plants outside is still being fed the "emergency nutrient mix" which they seem to like ( commercial liquid nutrient added rabbit manure and a little molasses to stimulate micro nutrients in the soil)

Still none of the X seeds have sprouted which actually isnt a disapointment as they were just some immature looking seeds i found in some pot from a friend.

The other strains ( TAS/GG3 x DP, ERD/AR x DP, HK x Leb27, Royal Dane ) are surprisingly well germinating.
from 52 seeds in soil, 51 have germinated sofar.

recent update.

Unfortunatly my mobile with camera decided to go blank.
Im not sure when i can afford either a new phone and/or camera.
Thats why updates has lacked recently.

All the TAS/GG3 x DP, ERD/AR x DP, HK x Leb27, Royal Dane seeds have sprouted.

I planted 5 of the Ramone79 skunkmix into my own garden and my neighboor has the last 10 in his garden ( we share a smoke together in the evenings sometimes anyway).
1 of them being weak and small was eaten by slugs.

2 of the bigger ones from the other strains has had their tops eating by slugs also but i hope they recover this very early unplanned "topping".

TAS/GG3 x DP are still indoor under flouresent but going outdoor very soon ( testing atm if flouresents is better than outdoor cause of the rain and lack of sun - size is almost the same but outdoors are doing a little better).
Some of the lower leafes are starting a little yellowing because of lacking Nitrogen and im afraid to use much furtilizer because of the small pot size so they are going outside very soon.

None of them is killer growing atm because of the shitty weather here but the HK x Leb27 is the fastest growing followed very closely by the Royal Danes, but the diffrence in sizes for the strains is kinda minimal in this stage.

The Misty and Super Skunk are still outside in pots.
They just outgrow 50 cm in 4 liters pots and roots are showing at the buttom so they are very soon transplanted into 12 liter pots.
They are ment for a later indoor grow as motherplants.

Ive just recently ordered some new seeds ( 1 x AK-48, 1 x Jock Horror, 1 x NL - Big Bud, 1 x Arjan's Haze #1 ) im still waiting for the seeds and they are also ment for the later indoor grow.
Im gonna grow seeds from them and also use them for some later planned crosses.
The Arjan's Haze #1 costed a freaking 105 Euro so i hope its so damn good as he claims!

Next on my wishlist for seed breading and eksperimenting is the famous ( but impossibel to get) Deep Chunk and some exotic strains as the C99 and others sativas like mexicans etc, maybe some Guerilla Gold etc., but i need to get my seperate growroom finished before i can handle all the seperate strains.

Thats all for now but i hope i can be able to post some pictures soon.
anyways ill update with text info in the meantime..

Stay tuned...

Hey Gunnar  , I'll definately be "watching" this outdoor grow. Get that growroom finished so you can get some DeepChunk started this winter. I'm absolutely sure they will sell out in record time. Oct/Nov release! Good growing my friend.

tnx alot for the kind words.
Yes i look forward myself also to having a nice growroom finished myself so i can satisfy "my green fingers" also in winter time.

Not everything regarding the room has gone as planned but started the other day making walls and air and light sealing it ( pix willhave to be later when i get a cam again).

I have some ideas on some crosses i think could be interresting, including DC, many others and mixing some of them with local early strains etc.
With a large growroom indoor im sure i wont be bored when winter sets in.
Should be the opposite ;)

Yeah, I'm planning a few crosses myself with DC. Perhaps with HTC Skunk to bring up the yield considerably. As they are both true IBL plants, the offspring should be well suited for selection. Not too sure a long flowering sativa cross would be ideal, as DC is best at 9-10 weeks IMO. DC is a breeders delight. Very stable and easy to work with. The only thing that draws back from it is yield. Excellent meds...just not enough of it at harvest.

im offline atm cause i forgot to my my bill to the isp :(( ( browsing atm via my cellphone which is very slow and expensive i should be online again next week)

Crossing with DC in order to make it more outdoor resistent in colder climates and increasing the yield would require to cross it with local early strains like Leb27, Danish Passion, Royal Dane etc.
Leb27 is a very early, mold resistent and sativa dominated hybrid btw.
Increasing yield would require crossing it with a high yielding strain.
I just recived the NL x Bigbud cross from Nirvana which i ( among other) intent to use for that.
An outdoor version suited for my country would be crossing it with above mentioned adopted and early strains.

DC should be very dominating in crosses as ive read so carefully selecting pheno's is gonna be a challenge i think.

Hope to be online again soon.

Take care

leb27 is not a hybrid bro, but a landrace. and its not super early due to its long flowering period.

danish passion or royal dane x dc sounds real nice!

Brother_Monk

Yeah, so far, the DC crosses I've seen have been DC dominated. With the exception of Uk Cheese x DC, and SPG x DC. I have some northern Lights, but I don't want to keep it too short. I would like a fair bit of stretch to the plants. Perhaps a cross with one of the White strains, that has been outcrossed to a long flowering sativa. Hmmm....I'm still doing a little research, so I have plenty of time for planning. Plus, I don't have a lot of room, so having too much variation would be a PITA. I'm thinking about Kodiac Gold, HTC Skunk, or just a good old fashioned mexi sat.

Im still so new in the business that i might mix words up but for me a hybrid is a mix between sativa and indica and a landrace is an adopted strain suited for that particular contry's climate, in this cause nordic/denmark, but it could still be both an hybrid and a landrace at the same time??
as far as ive read leb27 is considered early for nordic climates eventhough both Danish Passion and royal dane are earlier?
im correct assuming that leb 27 is a sativa or still a sativa hybrid?
i have both pure royal dane and leb27 crosses at my place i intend to make some test cross with.
the leb27 for some sativa influence and still being nordic climate influenced and RD and DP for earliness and mold resistance, but i have my eyes on other more exotic crosses also for indoor use, both sativas and indica's.

landrace or not.. "A Hybrid" is when u cross 2 plants and the recessive genes reveals themself in the next generation.. there are many forms for hybrids - color, growth , thc/cbd, smell and so on...
Ive noticed the word hybrid is very misused on theese site's- ive hope it enlightend a bit.. har du flere spørgsmål så stiller du dem bare..

Sorry for the late update.
Been busy and had a phone/camera crash also

Some shots of the outdoorgrow.
I didnt save the exact date but the pix are estimated 2 weeks old i guess
The plants where taken from the small pots in the minigrowhouse and put in soil about a month ago exept the TAS/GG3XDP which where put out a little more than a week later.

They have been wellfed with nutrients

2 HKxLeb27 plants
At first this cross was the fastest growing and tallest but they have been surpassed minimal by Ramone skunkmix and RD but they are still the most wide and branchy ones.
Im looking very much forward to smoking these
mixing a heavy indica with an early Danish sativa dominated landrace is surely something exciting and ive heard others speak highly of this weed.
One in front is somewhat pale green
i think its some kinda nutrient/mineral OD or insufficiency but ive not been able to tell the exact reason and its the only one outside showing this?
Ideas on the cause of this is welcome

They are smaller, stretchy and not even started sidebranching yet.
They got out a week later, recieve a little less direct sunlight, but im sure the main reason for being smaller is that he doesnt feed them nutrients.
He dislikes me keeping rabbits and therefore said no to offered rabbit manure and the result is obvious...

Pride of my life, my son, is spreading joy with a bucket full of nutrients.
today i started using both Canna Vega, Canna Flores and rabbit manure as many of the plants are starting to go into flower fase.
In just 3 days the tallest of the plants raised from 53 centimeters to 68 centimeters

Tallest and biggest in the garden sofar.
Ramone skunkmix with its nice fat indica leaves and bushy appearance.
Tallest one are 68 centimeters, 5 centimeters a day from last pictures.
If you look carefully you can se that the leaves are curling just a bit ( in honour of the camera ive straightened some of them out a little).
No yellowing or burned spots but ive been pushing the nutrient limit with these babes.
but no pain, no gain.
I hope the Trich production can measure up with the growth then im in for a hell of a smoke at harvest.
I gave my neighbor some plants of the same strain and they are looking like sorry excuses for cannabis in his unfurtilized garden.

HKxLeb27
Very similar to the Ramone skunkmix.
Very bushy with indica leaves and good groth rate.
Not as tall now as the Ramone's but also very bushy and wide
Its hidding its sativa ancestor well

TAS/GGxDP male
The only ones still showing sex ( not very tall or big )
picture is a little blurry so the balls are not showing very clearly.
im still in doubt wether to make seeds seperatly for each cross or to let the earliest cross pollinate them all for even earlier strain next year.
Since no pistils are showing yet i still have time to decide but im sure i dont have many days as all the strains are suppose to be early.

ErdPurt/AxDP
Clearly indica dominated but more neutral looking than the Ramone's and HKxLeb27
More looking like the Royal Danes but not as tall and a little more bushy.
As ive heard so much about the ErdPurt crosses i also look forward to how it smokes.
I have other ErdPurt crosses but recieved them to late for soil so i have to wait for those till next season.

They have been a pleasent surprice sofar.
Big fat plants with huuge indica leaves.
Cant wait till i see how they smoke

Almost 60 centimeters in about 30 days outside and about 5 centimeters a day for the past 3 days in mostly clouded weather.
Im sure the Canna nutrients and rabbit manure had something to say and of course some good genetics passed on to me by skilled growers.

i dont see watering a plant is a crime? :rasta:
Neither do i.
My son is very helpfull with just about anything the weekends his here for visits.
He helps with everything from feeding the rabbits, watering plants, cleaning rabbit cages and making compost, getting wood for the fireplace etc and his always asking what he can help with next.
When we are finished with the duties of the day we sometimes race around the neighborhood on a pocketbike.
Fahter and son, 2 boys that will always be boys
My daughter is still to young for outside activities but im sure she will help one day also, including "criminal activity" as to watering my plants etc :muahaha:
no one from the family consider them "criminals" just because ive chosen to grow a little weed in the garden

small update 1/8 07

the growspot as a whole
Tallest plants er now 87 centimeters
Only the TAS/GG3xDP males have shown sex but i think it can happen for the other strains anytime now.
http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/6279/billede000eg2.jpg

The tallest plants are still the Ramone skunk mix with its huge indica leaves
They have grown to 87 centimeters since last update.
Been holding back on the nutes since last time when my son watered them cause ive been balancing just around the limit, but i think its time for nutes again very soon.
http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/6538/billede001qw6.jpg

One of the TAS/GG3xDP males.
Catching up in height but very thin compared to the other strains.
The most "sativa looking" strain i have in my garden this year compared to the more neutral looking one like the RD's and the heavy indica look of the Ramones and the HKxLeb27.
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/3898/billede002nf1.jpg

HKxLeb27
Very bushy plant
Looking a bit like the Ramones but not as stretchy and more dense and compact

Eoyal Dane
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/1781/billede005rw3.jpg

the tallest of the RD's
still a few centimeters behind the Ramones in height but i wonder which of them that yeilds most and delivers the best smoke?
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/72/billede006yc2.jpg

One thing is for sure.
Im more than satisfied with the growrate of the plants.
Especially when they have been in soil less than 5 weeks and only pre grown to about 10 centimeters before that.
But next year ill be in soil as early as possibel with some heavy pre grown plants and a grow with 10 diffrent strains atleast and covering more than 20 times the ground of my current small scale late grow.
my indoor lab should be parttime operational in the next few weeks and fully operational within a month time or so.
Ive purchased and swapped for many new strains including some nice pure sativas so next year will be a very exciting grow year for me, and the lab will provide me with new strains, crosses and pre grown tall plants to go in soil as early as its possibel.
Ill be ashamed if i dont manage to get some sativas pass the 10 feet barrier next year.

UPS
seems like i forgot to resize the pix.
too tired for that new but ill resize and replace the links within the next few days

Yes im also amazed on how much ive been able to get from them sofar considering how late i was out and the short time they actually have been growing outdoors.

Heres the promised update

2 killed instantly and another isolated for pollen.
Height and growth has been a little disapointing as they are only about 60 cm and the isolated male is about 70 cm

They get neglected and only get nutrients when im around.
seems like his soil is to compact for fast growing cannabis ( contains lot of clay and even though i have put a better soil mix around the plants when i put them in, it seems its all been kinda wasted effort)

I apologize for the bad quality shots but my lousy phone cam doesnt like dark shots.
the plants has grown a lot in 24 hours and the tallest one is now 145 cm.

What to do with male plants?

Well some ppl ditch them.
Others compost them and some even use them for sports such as Cannabis Male Throwing :)

I feed them to my rabbits.
Call it recycling as whatever goes into the rabbits comes out as first grade fertilizer again ;)

My premium male rabbit buck having a canna snack.
Hes a 15 pounder Flemmish Giant.
also a giant producer of fertilizer and i owe him a big thank for my plants vigorous growth this year

tnx all..
If it wasnt for helpful, generous and kind DCF users i wouldnt have had any outdoor grow this season.
Thats why i do my best to try and give something back to the community and showing that i appreciate and care for the plants.
Also why im doing the indoor project this year that will give some interesting crosses for next outdoor season.

Time for an outdoor update

Been harvesting a few due to either maturity or signs of mold.
mold has except for on the Ramones been mostly on plants that are under attack from slugs
Slug feecies seem to accelerate mold of the climate is very wet.

But regarding the lack of height is think they are gonna yield nice for their sizes because of their dence structure and tight buds.

Nice grow man, that nutrient misshap is a bummer, if it happens again, try mixing Bonemeal, blood meal, and lime straight into the soil, the garden shop had to have those. The plants will use the nutrients when they need it, and will then need only a few extra feedings everynow and again for complete nutrient consumption.

sorry no harvest pix which im very sorry that i didnt take more at that important time
that period is always stressful of you have many other things also at the same time as having to deal with a large amount of weed
08 i tried to foresee this and hire trimming help but they where all not to be trusted as soon as they have been trimming a few times and had been payed in pot they didnt meet up for next appointments
i guess they stayed in the fog from the harvest weed payment
some of the harvest 07 went up in mold due to too late harvest and some where harvested
but most important that i had some good seeds i mostly gave away on some "other" forum

i bought a pollinator this year to make hash instead of all that trimming work and a friend came by with some really nice looking pot and wanted it processed into hash
he had grown at different places and also bought some seeds from commercial breeders but to my surprise most of it was made using my OD skunk mix 07
i ran it with a 160 micron net and second time with a 200 micron net in the pollinator, one hour in freezer for each run
we ended up with apr 10% in weight of hash way better than any commercial Al Qaeda hash out there
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2418/img0396xp7.jpg
this pix only shows the first 160 micron run

next year there will be harvest pix for sure
maybe also im going to film at my guerrilla spots for a later guerrilla tutorial video if i can get my hands on a cheap night capable video cam with decent quality for night filming in my corn spots
