trimming fan leaves

would trimming fan leaves be a bad idea? on one of my plants, the fan leaves cover all of the lower flowering areas, and light does not penetrate very well under that. so should i trim them??

After a few weeks veg i usually trim a few bottom fan leaves, theyre usually not getting much light by that stage anyway. Also when they're half dead i'll trim them so that the plant can use its energy on healthier and more productive parts

IMHO, I would either do a little trimming or tie them down as to allow the light to penetrate the lower flowers

I'd tie it down, as it's been said, allowing to keep more fan leaves. You can tuck them under the main canopy too, if they're blocking potential budsites.

i dunno-one year i had access to a haippies farm-when i left for a few weeks, he trimmed ALL of the fan leaves off-"that's how we always did it in the 70's" he said
i wanted to punch him in the face but in the end-they grew right out and harvested plenty

thats what i do too after 50-75% of the green is gone.about week 6-7

I trim kinda alot in late veg--looks kinda stalky---but I try to be sure not to violate potential sites. As a result I have less trim or dealing w/fans in flower. I do a mixture of tucking and trimming in flower depending on stress impact
I guess its personal---seeing how the plant is doing/reacting and what approach you feel is more beneficial. I hear from both schools all the time

yep.I'd pick a few off to get better light to a few lower branches.
