Among the most rare of the Colombian strains this is the quintessential Afro-Colombian cannabis cultivar and goes well with a good Cumbia album. About 1/3 of plants produce solid black flowers with the remainder being a very dark green. The plants grow well with a skilled hand indoors with around 50 wpf and the first mature flowers finishing at around 15 weeks of 12/12 with a subsequent flush around 5-6 weeks later. Resin production potency and flavor are noticeable improved when grown from cuttings indoors or as a large plant outdoors and after a long cure. Seeds are only one generation removed from region of origin and selected against intersexed traits but otherwise open pollinated. About one in 6 plants produce a creeper/jungle vine phenotype and its a great plant for staring a breeding project for either a true breeding creeper or indeterminate multi harvest strain. We are very proud of this one which is a must have for any collector of rare cannabis.

I also forgot to mention the flavor has a dominant tone of anisette/black licorice reminiscent of it's african heritage.

high H&L,

Nice to see you here bro. This CB matures over a couple of stages with the very first, lower buds achieving maturity first, followed later (5-6weeks) by the rest of the plant..

Sativa/Indica: Pure Sativa
Indoor/Greenhouse: 18-26 Weeks
Outdoor finish: Late December/January at 30 North.
Odor level: Low
Mite resistance: Low
Mould Resistance: High
Stretch: 3x and greater
Yield: High

Black Colombian is a seedline native to the eastern plains (llanos orientales) region of Colombia.

The 'Black' is a pure Sativa genotype typical of equatorial latitudes, the 'Black' was very likely was brought to Colombia by African slaves. Evidence for this origin is suggested by the presence of a distinctive anise/black licorice flavour detected in the smoke of its blackish green to pure black flowers.

Other similarities to African genotypes include a relatively mild body effect and a more pronounced clear, positive mental stimulation that renders the user extremely happy within the moment.

As an adaptation to an equatorial environment the Black matures its buds in several harvest 'windows' with the earliest from our test grow coming in at 15 weeks, the next coming 5-6 weeks later.

Peace, hhf

hhf- thanks for the info bro! :) she sounds really interesting, ive never grown a plant that had buds mature 5-6 weeks apart. :yoinks: i think i'll have to wait for the buy-it-nows to pick up a couple of packs, i have a feeling i'll get my ass kicked on the bidding, lol. im no good at the seedbay wars. :D

I wish there wasn't such a limited release of seeds.

The prices are going to skyrocket.

Maybe next time.

from what i understand, the initial releases go to help finance further collection efforts by zam and hhf, so its definately a good cause. i think there are supposed to be some buy-now's down the road...

I'm thinking there's a way you can work this strain where if you pick the right cutting and work the nutrient and possibly the light cycle a little a grower can milk multiple flushes of flowers for 3-4 months after the first buds are picked. I can't wait to see some grows posted.

Here is a old photo from one of the test grows of the 'Black Colombian'

Unfortunately this pic is of the 'green' phenotype within the line. We should have more photos of this line and particularly the 'black' phenotypes next week.

The resin production on this plant is just amazing. This plant is not only exotic but has some of the best breeding potential I've ever seen.

The main bulk of seeds was made for preservation purposes, they are in the cold store. Having preserved the line we made available this seed lot from selected parental in order to share the genes with others.

It will be three years minimum before these are run by us again. There is some more to be added to Seedbay, but not a lot of packs left. So yes a very limited edition release.

Bests, hhf

Like hhf said these seeds are limited and won't be back around for a while. However, we will have some equally desirable seeds up in the future and perhaps in the next year someone will make another generation and put some seeds on seedbay.

There will be another Black too, in the future, we have a accession made from a equally interesting Lumbo Black line from a different area of collection and will always have a selection of the best of the Landrace cultivars we find from around the globe at Seedbay. Be a few months before seeds of the other Black line are cured, tested and at the bay, but they are coming.

In the immediate future we will be sending some Indian Parvati Sativas. Pure Indicas from Pakistan and Afghanistan. Japanese Landrace lines. Some cabo verde, Sri Lankan and many other gems.

High Ganico,

Last year we made a accession of the 'Dosanko' and 'Obi' lines collected on the Hokkaido islands of Japan. We will be sending in some of the 'Dosanko' over the next weeks. We are also working to make accession of the Hokkaido Island 'Wild Sativa' this year, so there will be 3 Japanese landrace lines available in due course.

Peace, hhf

Try these in the Japanese forum bro it has some good information in it on the strains from Hokkaido islands in the north of Japan, there is some useful pictures of that thread and linked from there.

I'll detail the Dosanko and the Obi shortly here as we are going to do some for a photo call. Zam is going to grow some I hope.

Prior to 1948, Hemp was legal in Japan, was a part of Shinto culture, all shinto shrines have ropes and paper streamers made of hemp. Many kimonos were decorated with images of the hemp plant and it was considered a beautiful ornamental plant. Hemp grew feral all over Japanese Islands, but now is almost gone dut to eradication schemes. Only hemp plants grown legally are very small number on gounds of Shinto shrines to provide fibre for tradtitional symbolic rope and paper.

I know how it sounds but the hard disk with all of our pics from H's breeding projects is dead and unrecoverable. Some will be up eventually we'll figure something out even if it means growing out some cuts from a black pheno mom we have in bonsai mode just to get pics.

It should do fine 12/12 from seed. I believe that's how the mother plants for these seeds were grown.
