Hi there! First a short intro...we're 2 guys :joint: :joint: living in Spain, fed up with scrabbling about for bits of weedy weed and harsh hash, which cost us about 200€ a month, so we decided to make a grow room on our balcony.
After loads of reading and a-gathering of info, we decided on coco for the sheer simplicity of it.
We started a journal on a couple of other sites, and got sum bad advice and made a couple of bloopers  :pointlaug but that's the most wonderful thing about coco - it's soooo forgiving!
We will definitely be sticking with coco for all future grows, and if anyone reading this is still in any doubt, COCO ROCKS!!!! All it takes is to get into your head thats it's really a hydroponic grow, and the girls love it!
'Nuff chat, here's our pics

Awesome! Love how you show the changes over a regular time progression.
Coco DOES rock. Relatively little medium does so much! It's like plant steroids or something.

Hi guys, thanks for popping by

Hand fed all the way, with added Canna A+B, and a bit of vinegar to lower the ph.
We're very proud of our girls, they've grown up in the most delightful way, [tear glimmers in Gary's eye]

i was just gonna say it looked like u used canna AB :D
its great nutes isnt it :D
so u are using vinegar to lower the ph! wow that must get cheap ? any specific reason ur not using other acids?
the only thing i could ad is a fan on the top part too :D
i would maybe start flowering earlier? it seems the light doesnt get down there - but what does it matter ? even the fluffy ones are ur own homegrown and tasty :D
nice grow guys :D

Wassup bone! Yep, we use vinegar, mainly cos it's cheap, but we wanted to be as natural as poss, without going the whole hog with worm & bat shit and rotting fish etc! (we live in an apartment block with fairly nosy neighbours)
I've noticed a lot of peeps use rhizotone and cannazoid (?) with A+B? Does it make a difference.
With regards to the size of our ladies, we vegged 'em a bit too long, and obviously won't be repeating that little gaff. Mainly cos it's taking too long to get to the sssmowkin stage!! :drum:
And everything seems nice n dry in there, so hopefully no mold probs later.
Thanks for dropping by, we'll keep updating as and when anything exciting happens.
Peace guys. D & G in Spain.

Hey darrengary,
that's a great looking "balcony" grow man :D
i hope you made sure that the light doesn't shine out where the neighbors could see it?
love the way you have shown the development progressively, i can't wait to see the rest of this grow. keep up the good work.

Many thanks, gaius. Nah, the cabinet is totally light tight, so no worries on that score.
Now, the smell is another matter...we'll probably have to invest in a carbon scrubber v. soon. "sigh", another week of work to pay for it!!
Peace

hehe yeah - i know what u mean :D i decided this year also not to buy a new scrubber untill flowering. they are damn expensive :D
rhizotonic is awesome - its magic for root growth - i guess mainly in the first stages of growth - from clone/seedling untill flowering. i see no point really to ad rhizotonic end of flowering.
to spray rhizotonic on fresh rooted clones boosts the root growth amazingly.
and i think the other product u are taling about is cannazyme - atazyme does pretty much the same thing and is only 9 euros in the local grow shops :D
peace :D

OK, thanks for that, bone. Ur the man!
Our gals seem to have done fine without any additives, only A+B, although we've just finished a week of PK13-14, as advised by the wonderful people here at ICM.
Now we just wait....and wait......and wait...
"patience is a virtue" they say, but I wanna get wrecked!!!!!!!
Peace to all.

you know there are instructions out there for making your own carbon filter. if you are good at that kind of stuff it can save you some money for the first time. the trouble is a home made one will not last as long as a bought one. i think the active cole is packed much tighter in the one you buy.
it's incredible what you can get with just A+B at the right dossage, it will be cool to see you do it.

in a carbon filter its the amount of surface of the carbon thats the most important part - when u make a home made one i bet its dificult to get same quality active charcoal as the ones ment for air filters. for example dust could be a problem.
but yes i checked those threads - basicly 2 cylinders of mesh, one smaller inside the other - fill the space between with the carbon etc etc.
worth trying.

 don't we all eyeoftruth, don't we all!
This week we've been in the process of building a "clone room" out of a small cabinet someone had thrown out. It was just there in the street, calling out to us to take it home and make it useful. :woohoo:
We've set it up with only 1 30watt cfl, (equivalent to 150watts), and have sown our last 2 remaining seeds, again in coco. They've started to sprout a root already, 1 day after planting.
Our plan is to let them veg in there till we harvest our first grow. When they're well established, we'll take some clones. Then we'll just keep them alive in there until we're ready for flowering, and pop only 2 or 3 in our tall cabinet. We hope to try and time everything so we get a constant supply. That's our dream, anyway, free weed for life!!!!
Our 4 main plants are stre-e-e-etching so much, and filling with lots of flowers. We kept one plant untopped to see the difference, and it has 16 tops, including the main cola! Also it is a few days ahead of the 3 topped plants, so I dunno if we'll top our next lot. Time will tell.
But "time goes by, so slowly, so slowly, so slowly, so slowly"
Will post some pics soon.
Peace to all.

that will be perfect to start them off - later u might want to ad more fluoros in there - dont check the W on the fluoros - check the nr of lumen :D u need lots to veg nicelly :D
i love the fact ppl throw furniture in the streets here - sometimes there is real treasures to restore :D antigues and all :D

Hi crazyleaf  GC is a bit slow in responding, so we only check in a couple of times a week. Nice to see u here!
Hey bonecarver, we've got 1900 lumens at the mo with that 1 bulb, and the unit is white inside, which saved us a job of painting or covering in plastic! In our main cabinet we got 600w hps, which I think is why our gals got so bushy.
bonecarver_OG
02-09-2007, 02:09 AM
1900 lumen is ok to root clones etc and seedlings - quickly u want that to get as high as possible - to veg try to fill the roof with fluoros - and the sides too :D
i use about 37400 lumens for veg

Hi guys, here's an update.
Our girls are doing some fantastic work on themselves, with some amazing colas.
We really didn't know what to expect when we started, but we now know that 4 plants is too much for our space. We actually started with 5, but had to give one away. With our light (600w HPS full spectrum) the girls got really bushy very quickly, and the bottom half of the plants is just wasted space, so we'll only grow 3 maximum next cycle.
As all 4 plants are fighting for space, we pruned a lot of the dead/dying leaves from the bottom (like ScrOG grow). This has had no ill-effect on the colas, in fact it helped them as there's more air flow round them.
All tops and colas are showing some wonderful frosting, but our camera can't handle it. The HPS is too bright, the flash bleaches out all colour, and to get a close up in focus is nigh on impossible.
Here's the best of a bad bunch of pics:

My mouth waters every time I look at them, and they smell delish, like fresh toasted coffee and pine forests. :yummy:

nice grow... if i ever leave the states i'm going to spain
canazyme and rizotonic are ok but as you can see from your grow they aren't necessary
