Ok..I know there are alot of music related threads, but I'm posting this because I received an email from my father asking the family to reply to him with their 10 favorite songs of all time. His rules are pretty minimal, but limits 1 song per artist, (except you can have 1 song from the Eagles, and still another from Joe Walsh...not sure if I'd be able to list a James Gang song, also though).
Anyway...my list so far is:
(also in no particular order)
Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Mary Jane - Rick James
Tiny Dancer - Elton John
Hotel California - The Eagles
I Seen A Man Die - Scarface
November Rain - Guns 'n Roses
Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton
Family Tradition - Hank Williams Jr.
California Love - Tupac & Dr. Dre.
Only have room for 1 more, but this isn't my final list. May end up replacing a song or two or three. But Just wondering if anyone has any other great songs that I may have forgotten about(I'm sure there are a ton..like CCR, or other southern rock..or even some good country songs.)

Lamb of God- break you

Stone temple pilots- sin
Faith no more- Epic
just some songs i quickly picked from a group of music i enjoy... im sure my top 3and down could change day to day... i did a quick pick from the albums i have at this time. Peace, Dime

Not too familiar with alot of the music you listed, although "waiting in vain" and "epic" are both great songs(and epic may just end up on that top 10 list). I was thinking about some Soundgarden like "black hole sun" or something.

Yeah..top 10 songs is almost impossible to list. Now that you mention Pink Floyd, "Confortably Numb" comes to mind as a great song. Also, red hot chili peppers..but maybe something earlier like "under the bridge" or something.

eh, no particular order and well over 10, this list is my mood at the moment, other times there would probably be Sex pistols, Dead Kennedys, Clash, Velvet Revolvers and would have some jazz in the mix, louis armstrong or perhaps some Miles or Coltrane, I'm a sucker for good old school jazz.
I have probably 500gigs of music most of it in lossless formats so I'm always exploring new tunes.
There's some great rock thats coming around this day and age, not very commercialized but very very good, elements of dylans folk roots is quite striking, there's some great folk rock if you dig it.

This is hard, but I have a huge collection so my tastes (and top 10) are really diverse. Here goes...
1. Josh Ritter - kathleen (the perfect story about an underdog who waits outside of a party to drive home a girl....and gets her!)
2. The Band - the weight
3. Cesaria Evora - sodade
4. Ray Lamontagne - how come/shelter/three more days (anything by this man!)
5. Damien Rice - delicate
6. David Gray - shine
7. Doves - there goes the fear
8. Iron and Wine - naked as we came
9. Jeff Buckley - last goodbye
10. Sufjan Stevens - casimir pulaski day
Did my best to pick 10, but most of them came out really slow/chilled out because lately I've needed a lot of background music that doesn't distract me while working. I tend to like singer-songwriter stuff, lyrics that you really need to absorb and interpret to find the meaning. I'm an amateur musician myself (guitar and trombone), so I really enjoy an artist's unique style.

Bro, I would just like to say that I LOVE this list. I was seriously thinking about Pancho & Lefty and Magic Carpet Ride prior to this post. Also..all of thse other lists are great. Good songs guys.
Oh..and a little off topic, but when I worked at a Country Club in the DFW area, I had the pleasure of meeting Dime Bag. He was an avid golfer, and I remember seeing this guy on the putting green and asking one of the batenders "who is that guy with the weird facial hair"..he replied "dude..that's Dimebag". Wasn't a huge fan of their music(it was very respectable..just not what I'm into), but definitely proud to have them be from Dallas

Used to Grow: Glad to have someone list an Eminem track from his Infinite album. Definitely a great album for an indie. Also, I'm definitely going to have to put a Tom Petty song in there. Oh...and the Outkast song also had Slick Rick in it(the original storyteller and one of the top 10 greatest rappers ever)..Good stuff.
