I was wondering what is the perfect light for a simple 16.5" x 7.3" x 16.2" computer case and also the best ventilation for it? I want to grow already a year and a half. It was impossible cause of personal reasons. So maby this stealth micro set-up is just perfect for me! I was thinking about a 150watt HPS light and ventilation maby a 80mm. Want also a silencing device. Has somebody experience with it? I don't want that somebody else hear something, want to look and find my computer case :) And maby also a filter system. But i don't know it yet, just making plans. For the silencing device & filter system i need more space than my grow i think, lol :chin:
Also, has somebody a nice (european) site where you can buy all this stuff??

Bless

that case is less than 1 sqft i think. a 150w hps would turn it into an oven. a 70w hps or some cfls would be good.

i think it would be hard to cool a 70 watt in a small case like that. search around for full tower cases. then put a 70 watt hps in that.

silencing device. do u know how a bike muffler looks like inside?

the sound comes from air moving at high speed. you can build a silencer of a tube (the larger diameter the better) and inside that tube u put a screen that will hold glassfibre (against the wall) or any other silencing material. the larger diameter the more silent it will become (it becomes less turbulent and the air speed goes down).

whistle and u see how it works, now try to whistle with your mouth wide open, no sound huh...

btw i think maybe 40-50 w cfl is what you can keep cool at most in that case

Hi
Indeed, i gonna use 3 or 4 silent ventilators, produce each 9db.Also a 70watt hps light. I have the links already to buy it. Just don't have the good paypal. Be patience :)
I wan't to grow organic, no fucking chemicals. Has anybody good commands on a brand ?

Maby i gonna buy a filter as well. Don't know it yet. Maby i'm a little crap of space...

Thanks for the hint of the silencing device. If i hear some noise i can still make one :)

Much thanks

Dude your going to get like 3-5g, why grow thats small, the lights will cost more than the weed if you bought it at $15g. And I assume your growing bagseed. You might as well grow it in a big cardboard box(it would be better), and please explain how you going to keep a flowering plant unde 16in, you dont even have 16in of grow space you actually have about 10in, and you still have to keep the lights from burning the plant.

1.Clfs can be kept within 3 inches of the plants. For me and my computer grow (I'll get a camera one day) I'm having fun with it. Plus it looks like a computer and computers with lights comping out of them are not that uncommon anymore.
2. I'm using a screen to keep my plants from outgrowing my 20" of growing height.

Grow on man. What light choice did you make anyways?

70w HPS with a couple of PC fans on it to cool it down. Ive seen this done in a number of other pc case grows. However you'll need excellent ventillation and that I can't help you with - but good luck man. IT CAN BE DONE!

Yeah, it can be done! I remember a thread where a guy put a soil-filled pet bottle on its side and carved a hole for the stem. I'd also say a well ventilated 70W HPS is the ticket.

What's with that LED light link up there? Is that for real? Anybody growing with those?

I want one. . .

I know it will work but do you really want to spend three months for a few bowls? This all just comes back to the return you get, wich isn't enough to satisfy me. Different strokes for different folks though. Keep on keepin on

There's a great grow diary with a PC micro grow. I'll try to find it, but I think he's got three PC's going now.

Hi
sorry for waiting on me, i think i go for a bigger case,(something like this 31"H 14"W 24"deep) if i gonna use soil i have to. And i don't want to start with organic hydro. But this are still ideas. I have nothing yet, just brainstorming now :) And still i don't know what is the best light, i think that the cfl is better, because it can be closer to the plants than the hps light, but i saw a few pics of a cfl, and they look big. should i need 3 x '40w' cfl's or just 1 x '50w'??

Much thanks

I went with 2 42w CFls....... They say they have 150w light output each and that each outputs 2400 lumens each. I was thinking of adding another one. I won't know till this first one is over though.

Also. Sense I was producing 0% of my own herb a few bowls of mine own is 100% better then none........

lol i do micro grows for the love of the plant , and they just stinky enuff to fill your room, i know i sleep better at night smelling purple kush. also alot of us have full scale grows too , but u just cant spend your life in room thats for plants with 150,000 lumens burning though your shades.

Reminds me of the "easy bake oven" that used a lightbulb to cook cakes....

I would say, fluroescent lights are your only hope in that small of an area.

if a 70w hps would get too hot and burn the plant, how many watts of cfl would you have to use to flower a plant about a foot tall?

i was able to get a 70w hps in mine.
I put the whole floodlight in(econolight) w/ the reflector/ballast built in..
for ventilation I have 1 80mm as intake, 2- 80mm as exhaust though both are sandwiching 2 layers of carbon filter(to lightproof... though the exhaust tends to blow back into the chamber because of this... anyone figure out a better way to lightproof the fans?)

i used 100watts of CFL's in my old computer grow and the results were excellent

cfl's would be the best choice (i think), no cooling is needed. I found some 65-100 watt bulbs at the security lighting section of homedepot, like 12-15 dollars not bad if you want to expirment
