If you cant find cool tubes in Oz, theres always the option of buying a Bake-A-Round tube off ebay and attatch one yerself.

An uncharted market.
Someone with some business skills could make a killing here.
The only air-cooled options we have in .au are ablite & manta air-cooled.
With a good product like cool tubes I don’t see a lot of risk. You have no competitors so you will have no problems gaining a critical mass of the market share. The whole air cooled market is wide open.

Why don´t you send the guys from indoworld an email!
I ordered a 160mm Cool Tube from them for 89 Euros and am very happy & they´ll ship worldwide.
Just send an email to info@indoworld.de & ask for more info.

Rekiz: i think your getting confused between aircooled shades and cooltubes...from what I saw on their page (and I am familiar with that place thats where I ordered my ablites from) they dont have cooltubes....let us know if you know something different...

XBX it would seem that your right.... as soon as I saw Ablite and Manta I thought they must be talking about aircooled guess not... :(
anyway I'll do a search for you and if I do come up with anything i'll post...
Yeah good question. I'll be making a few of these soon for verticle growing.
Have the specs but hard to find the glass. :woohoo: Simax glass is what you need for these i think. Grow hard Aussies....

Check out the Pyrex Bake A Round. it's a glass tube that people are using to make their own cool tubes with. They can be had for like $10-40USD on eBay.

Any hydro store that has dealings with 'Holland Forge' can get them for you. They have them on their site.
http://www.hollandforge.com.au/
There are 3 different manufacturers that I know of:
1 from China
1 from Nth. America
and the last one from Europe
Stay away from the cheaper one from China
I also like Father Time's idea of having them blown here in oz, at least you'll get what you want........ custom dimensions etc.
Last but not least greeny bought a shit load of them earlier, just ask him.
Hope this helps you hideyoshi.

So have you noticed much of a decrease in temps?
I myself havent had the chance to run mine yet due to security issues I have at the moment due to fck'n kids bringing unwanted visitors.
you know what they say....... only parents of teenagers can understand why some animals eat their young....lol
I'm hoping to be up and running soon though.

my plans changed and i didnt use it for the situation i intended...but tryed it in a grow tent amound other hps....so hard to judge room temp. but it could be keeped close to the plants...i had over kill with the air in and out....only problem i see is when i drop it!!...HH. =]-~
rekiz
10-22-2007, 05:12 AM
yeah I am planning on using it inside a tent as well 1x1m with a 600w HPS turns out to be about 55w per square foot but it should be ok (I think)
correct me if I'm wrong but cool tubes should be toughened glass so simply dropping them should not be a problem perhaps pegging them against a brick wall may be a problem...if you like you could test this theory out for me....let me know how it turns out for you....lol

hehe i wish they were made of hardened glass! Sadly they're not. I smashed the crap outa 1 a few mths ago after i dropped it. Also if u folar feed don't get any spray on the tube cuse it will crack - also me. lol.

Regarding temps, i'm running 4 x 600w all in tubes in a 2m square room. I got them in pairs - 2 tubes to a fan/ducting. Temp peaks at bout 38c. My room used to peak at close to that with just 2 x 600's with no tubes.

Wow Rattrap they're high temps you have there! Gas too?
I've been thinking about maybe taking some new tubes to a glass blower or some one else in the glass industry to have them hardened/tempered,,,, have no idea what they might charge, hopefully its worth the effort,,,,, especially with the misfortunes I've read about. Have to do some shopping around first to find someone willing to do it.

high temp ya think? i used to grow outdoors in SA where day time temps in summer regularly peak at well over 45c in the sun. I'm running a bio bucket system now, the water their feet are in is at only 24c. No gas in my room.

thats way to hot for in doors should be a lot lower than that
what size fans are running?
are you pushing or pulling your air?

lol yeah smurf. MJ loves the heat as long as its feet are cool. As i said this is a bio bucket grow with the water at a perfect 24c. They are growing in 20L buckets of water. This isn't the first grow i've done at these temps & never seen a heat prob yet.
latest harvest.

well im not going to debate about those temps...but will say that the cool tubes do make a very noticable diff and obviously well worth it...
