Hey all,
Currently switching from soil to hydro, and am using the following nutes:
PBP Grow
PBP Flower for soil
Liquid Karma
Sweet
TopMax(biobizz)
FulMag(fulvic acid)
I'm wondering if I can use the last two products with the others in hydro(multiflow system). I've heard the topmax will smell and foam, is there another simmilar product that will work just as well without these side effects?
Also, will the topmax and Fulmag screw with my pH at all? Any tips or tricks?
Thanks much!

I am not sure about the Topmax. I could see how that would foam up, it does when i just shake the bottle. To be completely honest i dont think it is that necessary of a suppliment. It is supposed to accelerate the transport of sugars to the plant.
There are nutes that have complex carbohydrates that i think do the same thing. Liquid Karma has some of these. There is a new product that came out last month that is supposed to actually help the plant create carbohydrates as opposed to just containing them, It is called Sweet and is getting good feedback. 100% organic.
As far as growing organic in Hydro the main problem people have is that there are a lack of Keylates(sp?) in Organic nutrients. Keylates help break down micro-nutrients and biological agents that the plant cannot utilze without the keylates. These Keylates are added to chemical salt-based nutirents. They also occur naturally in dirt by way of micro-organisms. Some one please correct me if i am wrong but i believe the end product of these keylate creating organsims is Humic and even better Fulvic acid so in fact products like Liquid Karma and FulMag(which i am not familiar with by brand name) are essential. Ph can easily be adjusted with organic Ph up or down check your local hydroponic store

from what i have read the main ingredient in topmax is humic and fulvic acids with some "botanical extracts"- probably yucca extract or something similar.....i think you should be fine.....

I would rely on the levels already in the PBP Flower formula because it does contain Humic and Fulvic acid already. The top max works great with the rest of your nute regime and does boost the acids in the process.
Top max can foam in a misting system and the smell is rancid. In my 40 gallon res it is not to bad. I useairwands in the bottom to keep the solids from settling to much. Works great in an e&f setup but smells and will attrached flys, no shit, if don't watch out..
Overdrive from Advanced Nutreints is a kickass bloom booster. I used it in the place of topmax a few times and it rocks.Dr. Hornby's Big bud from AN
Hydroplex from Botaincare is also a good organic bloom boost and it plays off the Sweet for a killer Potash/Potassium/Carbo blast from like week 2 thru week 6 or 7.

Heya Tex and gp:
Anything else you guys think I should consider picking up? Maybe some CalMag? Thanks for the replies!

I use: Start with Tap water that is 280ppm
Veg - Pure Blend Pro grow, Liquid Karma, Cal-Mag, Silica Blast, and Sweet. Maybe a little Hydroguard in the res. if the roots kick out of the bottom to fast and brown. I keep it at a steady 1000ppm anymore and just rotate seedlings and clones into it for veggin.
Flower - Pure Blend Pro bloom, Liquid Karma, Cal-Mag, Sweet, Hydroplex, and a little Hydroguard in the res. I keep this at 1200-1400ppm pretty much all the time.
I flush on a seperate table with r/o water for a week or so and then into the darkness and no water for a couple days. Only chop when roots are dry or pretty much dry. I like dry, and then chop and hang.
I am trying out B-Cuzz rooting agent in my aerocloner instead of the Green Fuse this round to see whats up.

Pure Blend Pro is awesome and I am Glad to see it still getting mention on forums when I peek around. I noticed the mention of hydroguard which is a great product as well that does really keep the root browning to a minimum. For those with a bit more cash to spend I would use hygrozyme which is an enzyme (omri listed)(no shelf life)It protects roots from algae and bacteria as well as promote root growth. With use of this product your roots will explode.Sweet is really cool for carbo loading as well. However sweets primary function is to ease the transition into flower from veg and most importantly to help your plants to be as aromatic and resinous as possible. Keep an eye out for the new smelling version..I think it will be a pineapple smell.
What else ?? Liquid Karma is awesome stuff meant to accelerate growth (catalyst) Primarily being fulvic acid (20%) and other plant extracts meant to add flavor. not meant to burst anyones bubble but it's not 100% organic. It is however mostly organic and works great.
As far as I understand it humic/fulvic acids are natural chelating agents (keylating sp) the acids attatch them selves to nutrients to facilitate nutrient uptake.
thanks for reading. More ranting to follow later

P.S. Dont put liquid karma in an aero system without first straining it. Use a paper towell or cotton filter to strain it . The undissolved organic solids wreek havoc on small aero sprayer nozzles. They get clogged every day :yoinks:
LOL and to answer the first question I honestly would just use cal-mag instead of fulmag . the cal mag has been brewed to have more calcium and be more readily available to the plant..

so did you come up with a solution? PBP Grow
PBP Flower for soil
Liquid Karma
Sweet
TopMax(biobizz)
FulMag(fulvic acid)
I would say you would have tooo much humic/fulvic... check the labels, pbp has 7% LK has 20% TM has 30% and lord knows how much is in FulMag... If it works it works, but I would say it is overkill my friend. Actually I would say using LK and TM together is overkill and potentially toxic. I use both, but never together.
