Indica or Sativa, your preference?

Greetings all,

Previously if anyone had asked me I would have said that I preferred indica over sativa. (using very general terms)
but that was because I hadn't tried a good sativa! :)

I switched to growing sativa dom a couple of grows ago but wasn't happy.

Prior to this grow i thought I was growing Durban Poison but it was such a bad smoke I think I might have been gypped! I felt paranoid and edgy when smoking it and it was pretty bad all round. More hazy than high or stoned. I persevered through a couple of harvests - smoked it even though it made me para as I had nothing else :)

Luckily the last DP I grew mated with a male Skunk/Haze before I discovered it and I found one seed on the whole plant! There were probably more but I didn't find them. I've assumed it was a gift from the goddess :)

So, currently I am smoking a Durban Poison x Skunk Haze and it is a revelation! When I smoke it I feel happy, relaxed, surprisingly energetic and HIGH as a kite! :)

From now on I would like to grow a combination of indica and sativa plants so that I have a variety to chose from.

... I am fairly new to mj forums and all I can say is the revelations continue! :)

Funny to think I been smoking for about 20 years but never bothered to study up on what must be a large component of my blood and fatty tissue! lol

My fav. is usually Indica dom. , But I always grow a variety. Just harvested a Durban Poison , last week, and am less then 2 weeks away from pulling 4 fat BOG's " BlueMoonRock " girls.:cool:

I prefer growing indica plants, love that full and bushy look!

I did have one sativa last year, took forever to show sex, and a long time to finish... but it was worth it in the end, definetely the finest smoke I`ve grown. :)

I`m not really sure which I prefer smoking.... indica, sativa... I smoke so much I`m not really sure I get "high" anymore. lol
Probably indica though, I enjoy the relaxed feeling.

Hi Hi High! without a doubt... the choice for me is SATIVA *grins from ear to ear*... for this gal enjoys a HIGHER level of "high".

For indoor growing... check out TH Seeds "Sage". Stuff is a VERY sweet sativa buzz, easy to grow, good yeilds too. Haven't tried growing their new "sage n sour"... but with a faster finish time than Sage... sounds very yummy. Have also been enjoying HGF's Jah Herer... one of the better "Jack" hybrids tried. Nice buzz (if you dont let her run too long) and an all over "yummy" taste.

For me, when growing the indicas... usually they are for others... but I do smoke some Bubblegum (enjoy the goofey buzz it gives) and CaliO. Know that many claim CaliO is a "clear and up" buzz... ha ha ha, but not for me... hee hee hee... for me the CaliO's are much more like a "vitamin C laced fog" *grins*

Hard to say just one preference cause I believe it depends on 'mood' and time....I prefer sativa's for daytime, uplifting, buzzy highs full of energy, but come night time I like a nice indica to float away with.....:D

As for growing, love them ALL! Just have to have the knack for patience if growing long flowering sativas. BUT, there's a great sat dom that's real quick....C99.....around 56-60 days you'll have one heck of a sat dom!

I agree Dutchgrown, it always depends on the moment, time and space...
I prefer the Sativa, because I get oldfashion giggleshocks :D and munchies.
With the "heavy" Indica strains I don't have that and I stop dreaming (at night,lol)...

Over all though indicas are easier to grow indoors IMHO and Bogglegum provides the best of both worlds anyways so I could smoke that all day and night...

the nicest weve had of late is some GRApefruit .. im sure its a mix of something satava dom... was not couch lock just up and happy. no idea of the origins of the genetics or who made it but a very nice job indeed............ i usually want the knock out indica for pain..........PEACE

Am with the majority here
Sativa for day time and
Indica for night time
Last summer I grew some Big Freeze

it is very nice but leave you wanting
more all the time
the plant grew up to 24 " outside
and yield 300gr pretty cool
now am in my winter mood so I grow inside
and it is indica since it is a small controllable
plant. Eventually will do crosses so I can
get the exact type of plant my system required.

for our last grow we grew mainly indica dominant strains. it's nice to smoke our harvest in the evenings...helps me get to sleep. but to tell you the truth, it gets pretty tiring smoking indica dominant buds all the time...so for our next grow it'll be a mix of sativa and indica strains that way when it comes time to smoking our harvest, we can alternate between the different strains depending on our mood.

it's nice to smoke indica dominant strains when you just want to chill at home and watch movies but it's nice to smoke sativa dominant strains when you want to socialize with friends and go out...at least in my opinion.

I prefer indicas to grow and smoke and i love the way they look, sativas look cool to and u cant beat a good sativa high BUT i started suffering from anxiety after smokin skunk#1 for months and i put it down to the sativa high, tho some sativas i am ok with like most of Somas sativas and Kali-mist which is a fantastic high........peace all weed is good :smile:

I probably lean more toward indica's but a good sativa is like nothing else. A good blend, which I found the lifesaver to be quite nice. Not good sativa's can give you anxiety........I have a sk-1/d.p. going right now and it is beautiful....I just hope I can enjoy it. :D

I'd have to say for medicinal use, I go for the indica. Helps with the anxiety, depression, insomnia etc. For meditation, creative visualization I definately prefer to go with a sativa. Helps raise my sensativity level... :yes:

stativa or sativa dominant fro me. Sativas will cause paranoia/anxiety sometimes, but that also has alot to do with your own mood.

I smoke a sativa dominant blunt, it usually tricks me to thinking i'm just mildly stoned, everything very light, good mood and a whole lot of deep thinking and realizing really personal stuff about myself; making breakthroughs that stay with me forever. So i'm actually really high but really sharp and not drowsy.

Heavy indicas will damn near impair my speech, to me is the more regular high where i will get sleepy and just zone out.

They're all good, couldn't choose betweent them depends on mood, smoking in the day isn't really an option to most of us workers, I can only imagine what my boss would say if I turned up to work after smokings sativa's all morning.

As for paranoia never experienced it in 11 years of smoking but now I'm growing I experience it daily, indica or sativa or straight.

Tell you the truth I've never smoked a pure sativa but I'm going to this fall when I grow out some Apple Pie and Jamaican Sativa. I'll smoke these in the day because of the uppy energetic high they will give. I'll smoke my more indica dominant strains at night when I'm winding down and relaxing. I can't wait to be able to wake up and roll a nice fattie of some Jamaican and wind down and relax to some Deep Chunk. So far the most sativa dominant strains I've smoked were AK48 and Diamond Head and both were nice highs. I liked the DH high alot because it was mellow and uppy. I was high but not stupid high. The AK was a different story, I was too high to do anything in public. The was more of a stay home high. It kind of had a paranoia thing to it. Some tasty shit though. I think I'm going to be a sativa connoisseur. I'll keep the pure sativas to myself for personal smokage.

I agree that it depends on the time of day. I really like a good Sativa Indica combo. I think MrSoul got the combo damn near perfect with Apollo.

Sativa in the morning well not too much because you know how that is when you're raring to go and you rush out without anything in your pockets with a head full of piss and vinegar.

Indica at night to quietly rest her head on your shoulder and put your ass to sleep and then rip you out of your sleep to drag you to the refrigerator to eat up all the rest of the cereal and milk. Gulp =burp. Then you know you got to take another hit before you lay back down.

I don't have nearly enough experience with sats to be able to judge but I (like most others here) like sats for the day and indica at night. I'd have to say 50/50 is my favorite for anything though. I love the kind of buzz that contours to what your doing.

I'm new to ICmag but I think I can contribute a little to this cool thread. I agree with the majority Sativa to get things going in the day and Indica for a " I wanna be sedated".

As for paranoia... well wrong mood, too much good sativa stuff and you have it! Cause if you're in the wrong mood and smoke too much Indica you'll sleep like a rock!

MY OBSERVATIONS SO FAR:
NL#5xHaze was by far the most trippy of all the sativas i've smoked... But great to focus on the one thing.
White widow-stinking shit- was great all around. Very powerful, needed just a little to work. Good buzz, what a shame about smell (security).
Blueberry would have to be one of my favorite so far. Good pain killer, mellow worryless stone, beautiful smell.
Bubble gum is the stuff for pain...well so far anyways! Couldn't get enough of it!
Skunk#1 is ok for a light head buzz...hit's behind the eyes. Smoke some for a busy day ahead and all your chores will be done before you even realise it!
BC bud is good for night but a bit too light for my liking... that's why i'm getting White Rhino shortly. That should knock me on my ass!

I'm still exploring and my opinion is mostly from a medical aspect. :joint:

I am at the moment into a more indica type strain, I am trying out "Couchlock" which is northern lights#5 and Afghani #1. The name speaks for itself. For me it is somewhat of a narcotic type high,It smokes great,tastes great, smells great, but looks a bit lanky.so I guess lately I have mainly smoked indica types. It's been a while since I smoked sativa types, but soon enough :-) We are going to be switching up shortly to AK48 and are going to try nothern#5/Big bud and see how those go.

for me i like it to be about half and half :-)

I love 'em both.....but a slight edge on the indicas! I usually smoke later in the day/evening when my work is done and I'm ready to relax.....this may have something to do with my preference. Also, indica dominant stuff is always what's been readily available to me......sativas are pretty rare around here. I will say this though........when I want a sativa.......I want one NOW! :sasmokin:

the sativa high is more energetic and i find myself getting involved in inteligent conversations and then just bursting into giggly highs. will keep you awake . indica late at night or after work for big wind down. for commercial crop def indica.
