Here are my personal strikes Pro/Con for the cantidates.
Bush:
Pro:
1. Space Program proponent.
2. ???
Con:
1. Intensifying/Expanding Drug War
2. Gay Marriage Constitutional Amendment.
3. WAR!
4. Abortion Opponent.
5. ... (The list goes on)
Kerry:
Pro:
1. Served in Vietnam, then came home and protested.
2. Admitted Smoking.
3. Better foreign relations stance.
Con:
1. Old School Political Family. (Like Bush!)
2. Strong corporate ties.
3. Against legalization.
4. No strong stances against 1, 2, 4 of Bush Con. list
Nader:
Pro:
1. Strongly anti-Corporate
2. Strongly pro-Worker
3. Strongly pro-Consumer
Con:
1. Not a chance in Hell of winning in this 2 party system
2. Communist Ties w/Green party
Personally, I will vote libertarian if they even make it on our ballot. I never believed that "You are wasting your vote on a fringe cantidate" stuff. Otherwise I will vote Nader.
Lets here your choice and why.

I will rest easy knowing I cast my vote for Bush...
While I dislike the war on drugs, I feel I must vote for the person that will protect the US to the best of his/hers abilities

It's really the lesser of the two necessary evils at this point.
Right or wrong, Bush started this war after he ended the American game of "take a hit, lob a few missiles" that we had been playing for close to two decades...
If he leaves office for Kerry, we could go one of two ways...
1) Kerry will dramatically reduce the friction that Bush has fomented (necessarily so, in my mind). In this vein, we lose much ground.
In turning, we'd alienate our new "friends" like Pakistan as we left them to rot...we'd ignore the realities of the Middle East for an ostrich-like agenda - which will come to haunt us. This war with fundamentalism (ironically fought by a fundamentalist president) will not just end should our regime change.
Perhaps Kerry would have the tact to pull us out without compromising our security, status or right to self-defense and self-determination.
2) The war will continue, albeit in less dramatic fashion....This is the option I think has to happen, no matter the leader. Kerry could continue the fight, but bring it back to the international consensus makers...
The Middle East is volatile at the moment and the squeamish shouldn't run...this is the moment of truth - this next decade...
Israel can be changed, Palestine can be born, Iran can be ruled by Iranians and not Mullocrats (as is the Iranian populace's deepest wish), Iraq can federate and move forward...
Then Saudi Arabia - the true and final target in the WOT - can be confronted and isolated....
The key is to achieve the above with the least amount of boot stomping...and it can be done.
I'm not confident Bush has the tact to do this, and I'm not confident Kerry has the stomach to do this....
It's a tough call and it's going to go down to the wire....

why throw your vote away, when it is so very important to remove shrub from power?
Have you not been paying attention? or do you refuse to see?

I voted Kerry in the primaries. I shouldnt be a 1 issue voter, but unless Bush stops the war on drugs, it wont matter what happens in the rest of the world, cause world events lose importance when your locked up.

Kerry has slowly been moving his marijuana stances towards our goal. He has a long way to go for me to believe that he will actually do anything for me with regards to marijuana, but I will keep an eye on him.
Bush, not a chance in hell. Good man, sound beliefs, but I just can't go along with his foreign policy.
In this day and age there is no need to have this large of a military budget for any reason. We could more than adequately defend ourselves and our borders with a third of our military budget. Even then we'd be improving on what we already have for national security. Who ever elected us to be the worlds policer. I believe that we are the best in that role at this time, but if we are going to continue in that role the rest of the world better pony up with the $$$. I for one can't stand for funding it any longer while we are in debt. The thought of social security being cut for those who have worked for it while our military spending increases is wrong. Greenspan what are you thinking?
So where do I vote...
I'm not sure yet at this point.
I would love to see the Libertarians get their act together by getting behind one another instead of bickering between themselves. At this point it's already too late for them to get a viable candidate.
the Green party is a bit more organized than the Libertarians but will never probably see a healthy share of the vote.
The sad thing about both the Libertarians and the Green Party is that even in times that they have had good candidates they can never get a healthy share of the vote to show people "We're here, and we have an agenda." People don't often take them seriously and for that reason the people who feel a vote for someone who doesn't have a chance is a wasted vote will never vote for them.
I think that if all the smokers and those friendly to smokers would use just one presedential election to make a statement we would have a chance of correcting the marijauna laws. I mean how bad could it be nomatter who won. Look at my state of Minnesota for example. We elected Jesse Ventura for Governor and we didn't fall off the face of the Earth. Look at California, they just elected Arnold Schwarzennager. So what I'm saying is that someone whose main agenda would be to change the marijuan laws couldn't mess us things that much.
I'll vote for whoever can promise that they will work and not stop until they get marijuana laws changed.

Bush won't keep anyone safe. He has fumbled the ball as Quarter-back and he will be replaced this fall. America has sufferred so much loss of prestige and economic power during his term that he hasn't a chance of a snowball in hell of winning.
Don't vote Nadar as the Republicans would pay him to take away Democratic votes and he is fine with ruining us all again. If you like nadar than vote Kerry.
If you are a tree hugger or a pot smoker who wants America to be less hated then Vote Kerry. The man earned it and we need him to try and restore America's image with europe. BOG :)
He will be much more effective in the War on Terror too...
Bush wasted our resources in iraq and now we are being blamed for our failures. :(

Make sure you give it all a good looksie before you pull that lever.
In biblical days, in times of trial, one would don sackcloth and cover themselves in ashes and meditate....
Wear what you will, but there's something in that, that applies here to me metaphorically and realistically.
Think this through...search your soul but be sure to ask the right questions and find the answers yourself. At this point in history you cannot trust your future (or your children's)to someone without a thorough background check.

Thanks to everybody who posted. I wanted to get a view of the "Stoner State of the Union" on this. As of this point, I guess Kerry is the choice for those who want to vote for someone who has a chance of winning or of the "Anybody but Bush" crowd.
GET OUT AND VOTE! (Don't forget to register either)

i myself am voting for Ralph Nader. Although there is no chance in hell that Nader will ever be elected president he has tackled some issues that both Kerry/Bush would never touch upon. Nader has pretty much taken the stance that he will do whatever he can to get Bush out of office. Democracts have been real good in recent years of electing bad Republicans. The two party system needs to be done away with, it was created by rich white politicians back in the day, and continues to be ruled by the same in our current times. Although I don't believe Kerry to be fit for being our president, anyone other than Bush will do. It's our country and we're only killing ourselves by electing another dimwit like Bush.

I'm not happy with either Bush or Kerry right now.
Bush needs to get rid of a few idots surrounding him. i.e. Chuckles Chenny, Asscroft and Rummy the dummy.
Kerry doesn't have a clue what side he is on. He is Waaayyy to wishy washy for me.
It doesn't look good in either direction right now.

I keep hearing the discontent among the right side of the spectrum and that's because many conservatives believe in principles that Bush has violated. They also feel as embarrassed by him when he smirks at the wrong time or whatever. He is one lousy diplomat and as he says, "I am a redneck". He can be kinda cute at times and i doubt he is stupid either.
He won't win though. I have liked Kerry a long time but then again I like the Kennedys too. ;) Love you Gunny and I respect your true heart. I too am a conservative on many issues. BOG :)

I agree with ya Gunny, Kerry has always been one to change his stance on something. As for Bush, the problem lies in the fact that he's basiclly a puppet for his administration. His father def still has some say in what goes on, and they always say that the most dangerous people are the ones you never hear about. We'll have to wait and see what Bush does to the economy from now until election time, a good economy = happy americans :)

vash my brother...a "sleeper cell" is a terrorist organization that sits quietly and then pounces.
the fuks that pulled of 911 were sleeper cells.
We'll agree to disagree on that one - my brother.

I'm sure Ron has already been forgotten . But I'm in one of those states that hasn't had primaries yet and I'll be damn sure to vote for Clinton . Then come November cast my vote for either Libertarian or possibly McCain if Romney ends up with VP nomination . Sorry guys as much as I want herb to be legal , our economy is far more important and Romney's track record as a businessman is very respectable . Obama hasn't got a fucking clue on how the economy works or middle eastern politics . Obama's doin nothing more than selling snake-oil to the American people . At best he'll be a lame duck .

I'll probably write in "not them". There's not a single person left running that I would piss on if they were on fire. I'll probaby focus more on local level people, along with senate/congressional races. The best we can hope for out of the 3 stooges is a lame duck presidency.

I'm pretty sure that no matter who wins, we really lose. I find this latest batch of candidates to be especially weak. If this is seriously the best we have to offer, I fear the worst. It's going to take a lot to get this economy back in shape and in almost every other aspect our country is suffering (war on drugs, immigration, health care, education, foreign policy, upholding constitutional law, etc.) It's going to have to be something major and I just don't see any of these candidates getting it done.

If Nader gets on the ballot, then he's got my vote. I know everyone thinks he has no chance but even if he gets a higher % than last time that says something to the big corporate party duopoly system. I encourage all of you to atleast hear the man speak he's a genius. If you value true democracy and what is right for our country you'll vote for him.
